Photoshop :: Converting Bird's Eye View From Game To Elevation Map
Mar 1, 2008I would like to convert in-game terrain (from whatever game) to an elevation map, so that I can use it in a program like Vue to generate a 3D terrain. Basically, I'd be flying above the game terrain and taking snapshots, and would like to know what's the usual approach to convert these snapshots into elevation data in Photoshop.
I understand the basic concept of how a grayscale image translates to elevation, but am having difficulties grasping how the grayscale version of my snapshots would translate in proper elevation information.

Jul 10, 2013I created the image below (mostly using a photoshop template I downloaded), but I created the outside text on my own, which I'm having a problem aligning properly. If you notice in the below image, the outside text alignment looks bad.
For the current version below, I used the Warp Text -> Arc tool, but it seems like that tool can't arc beyond a half circle, so I created 2 Arc'd text items and tried pushing them together, which creates the bad alignment you see. Is there any way to create text in a perfect circle in photoshop (or any other adobe product)?

Apr 6, 2011I am using Photoshop Elements (version 4) and I am working with text around a circle. I downloaded a premade text-on-a-path file made by someone with the full Photoshop and it works almost perfectly for what I need. The problem I have is that the text goes upside-down at the bottom of the circle, so how to make a file with the text right-side up at the bottom of the circle. This would make the text upside-down at the top of the circle, but that's fine as I will just use two separate text layers (one for the top and one for the bottom). I've included a quick mock-up of what I'm hoping to have, made with PSE's "Warp text" option which looks messy. I've also attached the psd file I'm using for the top of the circle. (I can't post links yet so they are attached).

Bottom layer do something strange to it (I inverted for this sample)
Once you've set up the 3 layers activate the middle (black filled circle) layer and select the move tool. Now move the black circle around with the mouse...
As the circle moves the color will show up in the circle..

Feb 16, 2006I am trying to make an oblong shape, then a work path and then stroke.
I select the elliptical marquee tool, hold down shift and form the circle, seems easy ..... i go to the paths tab, make work path and the stroke path and you would think it should be a perfect circle. Its not !!
Its as if the circle is hand-drawn in three places, really strange, it just veers in and back out again from the line it should be taking .... it is realy strange.
I closed PS down and double clicked the icon and held down shift, CTRL and ALt and choose to remove the history, and tried this again ... but still the same?
