want to create a checkerboard pattern where each cell is a single 1x1 pixel square of alternating colors.I guess I could just draw the first 4 pixel block and then copy & paste, but I often find myself wanting to do these kind of geometric operations (especially grids) so would love to know what other techniques are useful..

On a transparent background, the checkerboard pattern is kind of hard to work with. The project, to be exact, are sprites for a game I'm developing, and the 32x32 really limits what I can work with.
EDIT: I just need it to be a different color. Black or grey would work fine.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a pretty basic knowledge of Photoshop and I am trying to change fabrics on curtains I have managed to do this but now I am trying to use pattern maker to create a tiled pattern with a fabric so it repeats correctly I have worked out how to start this off but every time I generate a pattern and tile it it becomes distorted I have tried increasing the sample detail but this just seems to distort it more.

I have a circular part on which I have created a linear pattern (using the rectangular pattern feature) of holes, 6 in total listed as 3 ccurrences. if we number the holes 1-6, I would like to make a circular pattern based off holes 2 and 5. I have been unable to figure out how to select the individual "occurrence" related to the hole once in the pattern feature. If I create the circular pattern first and then the linear and try to suppress the others it supresses both holes in the occurrence.

I have chosen different sizes in the pattern window but all show up with seams when I fill the larger space. Am I doing something wrong or is the largest size you can create with this tool seamlessly only 9x9?

Now I made all the assets, and I thought I can use the star animation as a sub animation, so I can tell it to appear in random heights, move from right to left and start at a random frame, so I made a GIF just for that. But I fail to see any sort of controls that let me do what I was planned.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't create a Pattern of a selection area. When I try to create the Pattern at Edit->Define Pattern, this option isn't available. I will tell you the steps I'm taking:
->Create a new doc and use Paint Bucket Tool to paint it with Black (this is the background).
->Then I create a new layer and with the rectangular marquee tool I do a square.
->Keeping the selection I press cmd+backspace and the square becomes white.
->Keeping the selection I do a Stroke with 2px, color black and option Inside.
->Then I go to Edit to define a pattern of that square, however the Define Pattern option is gray, so I can't use it.
how to go about getting the effect on the picture (the slanting lines). I am quite sure its done using the define pattern function but just not sure how to create the pattern.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a seamless pattern in CS6. Before I had CS6 I didn't have this issue.
So, I have my 1500 x 1500 pixel document.I have set up the new pattern design in the center that I created.I go to Filter/Offset - wrap around and choose 750 px for both the vertical and horizontal.I fill in the spots, not touching or going to the edges to create the rest of my patterned tile.Define pattern.Then, go to fill a new larger document with the pattern and the offset is not seamless. See attached.
I have not encountered this problem before and have made lots of patterns this way. I do realize I can do this in Illustrator, but my client needs a PS file.

i made 4 little squares, used them as a swatch. filled a big rectangle with the swatch and expanded the object again so all squares are now individual elements...
now all i need is the full gradient from left to right but filling each square with one fixed color.
I'd like to create some text with a Checkerboard look to give it a racing effect kind of look, probably black and red. Of course the text would be very large so the checkerboard effect can be seen. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might create this look?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Photoshop CS4.Anyway, I want to make a grid, not necessarily with square grid blocks, then attach an image to a new layer underneath the grid. Then I want something that will go grid block by grid block, look for the predominant color of the attachment image within that grid block, and fill that entire grid block with that color. The images I am looking to attach are cartoon style (i.e. logos), and there are not complex color schemes to work with. The Pixelize effect is similar, except that it gives a blend of the colors which may not be in the grid space to begin with. i.e., if only black and white is used in an image, it might spit out a gray color shade rather than black or white. I am essentially trying to create a pattern from source images.

When I add them to the page, they have the white background instead of being transparent. I know that saving files as jpg will create that but these are png files with the checkerboard background. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it. Oh and I'm using Elements 7.0.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two art objects on two layers. I want to match to the pixel the two objects that otherwise could be exactly the same but one layered object was imported slightly smaller.
The scale tool has good scale handling, I just want to measure the tool spots to the pixel to gain an exact scale size factor and match sizes.
It blows my mind that somthing this simple isnt all that simple. I used the eyedropper tool to slect a color from another photo, then used the brush while fully magnified to change the color of each pixel.
It was coming out a weird greyish color, and I noticed that if I clicked more than once, it got darker, but so did the pixels directly around the one i was editing. So, i copied both pictures, loaded them into paint, and went to town.
It worked, but then when i copied it back into photoshop, it had a black background (there was no background in the original pictures) around the sprite I was editing. I tried to use the magic wand tool to get rid of it, but it took parts of the sprite with it, so...
Is there any way that I can edit the color of a single pixel (or hell, even a group of pixels if they share the same exact color would be nice...preferred, even) accurately? If not, what program could I use that would keep the transparent background?
I purchased an update for PSCS6 disc. Whenever I use a slider in editing (such as adjusting hue, contrast, etc.) the background on my screen flashes back and forth between black and grey/checkerboard! It does this as I slide the slider in all adjustments! It is impossible to edit with this flashing! I have set the background to black, but it will not stay there. I have downloaded all the current drivers for my computer. Nothing works!

I know how to create a new fill pattern, BUT, whenever I use a created pattern to fill an object, I get weird lines in it - as though the fill ends then starts again. It's as though the cross that you use when creating the fill is imprinted on the pattern.
