Jan 16, 2012How can I create the pattern in the image below? It's not the green gradient obviously . I saw it on a website and found it interesting. It's supposed to resemble a city map.

View 1 RepliesI have a pretty basic knowledge of Photoshop and I am trying to change fabrics on curtains I have managed to do this but now I am trying to use pattern maker to create a tiled pattern with a fabric so it repeats correctly I have worked out how to start this off but every time I generate a pattern and tile it it becomes distorted I have tried increasing the sample detail but this just seems to distort it more.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to take a feature created by a pattern and reuse it to create another pattern? I have a circular part on which I have created a linear pattern (using the rectangular pattern feature) of holes, 6 in total listed as 3 ccurrences. if we number the holes 1-6, I would like to make a circular pattern based off holes 2 and 5. I have been unable to figure out how to select the individual "occurrence" related to the hole once in the pattern feature. If I create the circular pattern first and then the linear and try to suppress the others it supresses both holes in the occurrence.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI played with the feature a bit and understand how to create the patterns. Problem is when I go to fill in my 12x12 space there are seams. I have chosen different sizes in the pattern window but all show up with seams when I fill the larger space. Am I doing something wrong or is the largest size you can create with this tool seamlessly only 9x9?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a question concerning the symbols on map. You see, I'm making a world map in Photoshop (atlas style), and I am wondering what to use as map symbols (for city sizes and such). So I settled for the standard ones (image below), but how to make these, or how to start making these.
Should I use the brush tool, or perhaps the custom shape tool (what is the difference between those two?), or something entirely else?
Don't say "Why don't you just copy the icons?", because they are kind of low-res and I really want to learn this myself.
I am currently designing a new map for a planet i am designing, however i want to add some city lights to it so in the dark, it looks like it is actually populated, much like most pictures of the earth, showing both the light and dark side (because of my post count i can't insert a link to an image but hopefully you get what i mean) .
At the moment i don't have any lights, how do i get this effect.
I can't create a Pattern of a selection area. When I try to create the Pattern at Edit->Define Pattern, this option isn't available. I will tell you the steps I'm taking:
->Create a new doc and use Paint Bucket Tool to paint it with Black (this is the background).
->Then I create a new layer and with the rectangular marquee tool I do a square.
->Keeping the selection I press cmd+backspace and the square becomes white.
->Keeping the selection I do a Stroke with 2px, color black and option Inside.
->Then I go to Edit to define a pattern of that square, however the Define Pattern option is gray, so I can't use it.
how to go about getting the effect on the picture (the slanting lines). I am quite sure its done using the define pattern function but just not sure how to create the pattern.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a seamless pattern in CS6. Before I had CS6 I didn't have this issue.
So, I have my 1500 x 1500 pixel document.I have set up the new pattern design in the center that I created.I go to Filter/Offset - wrap around and choose 750 px for both the vertical and horizontal.I fill in the spots, not touching or going to the edges to create the rest of my patterned tile.Define pattern. Then, go to fill a new larger document with the pattern and the offset is not seamless. See attached.
I have not encountered this problem before and have made lots of patterns this way. I do realize I can do this in Illustrator, but my client needs a PS file.
how to go about using a shape to create a pattern? I have been able how to create a pattern using brushes.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'd like to increase the lights' intensity of a picture I took to the Manhattan skyline during late evening, creating halos around them
I tried with the Gaussian Blur and Diffuse Glow filters but with no satisfying results...
I am currently using Photoshop CS4.Anyway, I want to make a grid, not necessarily with square grid blocks, then attach an image to a new layer underneath the grid. Then I want something that will go grid block by grid block, look for the predominant color of the attachment image within that grid block, and fill that entire grid block with that color. The images I am looking to attach are cartoon style (i.e. logos), and there are not complex color schemes to work with. The Pixelize effect is similar, except that it gives a blend of the colors which may not be in the grid space to begin with. i.e., if only black and white is used in an image, it might spit out a gray color shade rather than black or white. I am essentially trying to create a pattern from source images.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've taken some time to follow some tutorials and I think I've become pretty decent at making planets over all. However, I decided to try and create a city planet, but I don't know exactly how to execute it.
By city planet, I mean something that looks like Coruscation from Star Wars. I've tried making circular and ovular patters, but they don't turn out right when I render the 3d effect. Also, the texture just doesn't seem to come out as smooth as the one in the picture.
need to draw the map of a city, roads, streets, squares, roundabouts and the like. I remember a command of parallel lines in autocad to to this, but that was years ago... so how to map the city...
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been planning on making a Sci-Fi city in paint.NET recently, after viewing the pictures others made in photoshop and other programs (example)
I just tried to make one. It didn't go so well.
So, my question: how would I go about making one of these? What would I use to draw the buildings? (Line tool leaves jagged edges at 1 when trying to color.)
I know how to create a new fill pattern, BUT, whenever I use a created pattern to fill an object, I get weird lines in it - as though the fill ends then starts again. It's as though the cross that you use when creating the fill is imprinted on the pattern.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am currently drawing a map. It is going to be a detailed one. I wonder if i could make small town names disappear while zooming out and at the same time big city names emerge. And contrarily make disappear big city names while zooming in and emerge small town names. I want it to make similar with the application that google map uses. Can we do that with autocad?

Let's i want to make a leaf shaped town such that it can have any desired area e.g. 800 acre with the same dimension like the leaf that added below. While experimenting with arc tool I've so far been able to do it but i would like to know the exact ways to do it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to create asymmetric pattern, both circular and rectangular, in assembly environment. For example, I have a component which I want to circular pattern at different angles rather than fixed angles. Let's say 3 components around the circular pole- angle between 1 &2 - 175deg, angle between 1 & 3 (in same direction) 265deg. I understand that this will violate the definition of pattern but would be nice to have such feature. If I am not mistaken, Solidworks has that ability to do asymmetric pattern which I have used years ago.

If you look at this example below, the pattern (behind the hands, log, etc) looks completely random. How would I go about recreating this effect? Would I need to draw the whole thing manually?
