View 5 Replies View RelatedI am working on a header for a site. The left side image faded in nicely by layering it over black, lowering the opacity and blurring the right edge. I also sat the black layer a bit further in and blurred it to get a smooth edge. However, I cannot get the same look on the right side image. After about 2 hours trying, I am at wit's end. But I am still a newbie to PS and I have no doubt there is a better way to do this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to fade a background texture so that it isn't so bold. In Flash I would do this with the alpha controls, but I Googled alpha for photoshop and it wasn't what I was looking for. I've tried playing with the partially transparent gradient, using mulitple layers, but I'm not getting the desire results.

I have pretty much achieved this by choosing an inner glow effect and using the same green color as my glow color but I wanted to ask if I am doing this right or is there a better way.

I am trying to fade a layer but when I do there appears to be black/white checkered boxes.
The way I am acheiveing the fade is by:
-selecting the layer
-adding a layer mask
-selecting the gradient tool
-shift and dragging the gradient tool from left to right on the image
the result:
a fade but with checkers
Lets say you got a picture set up, we'll say the picture is a sky with clouds. And you want to add pictures/images , we'll say pictures are of people.... and you want to add them on the picture of the sky without overlaping it (which normally turns out deleting out that portion of the picture). How is that possible to add it but somehow meshing it in...

I have a script that I am using but cannot figure out how to make the bottom reflection fade to transparancy. The image on the left is what comes out from the script & the image on the right shows how I want the reflection to fade into transparancy. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S. I'm a Photoshop n00b so please try to be simple in the instructions. EDIT: I forgot to mention that the image needs to remain at it's original 60px × 224px, the fade to transparency cannot change the image size.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to fade text from top to bottom using a path I have always followed, but isn't working now:
Â
1. Select the layer the text is on
2. Create Fill or Adjustment Layer > select Gradient from the drop-down menu
3. Click on the Gradient bar to bring up the options
4. Adjust opacity, direction, colour > OK
Â
When I create the Fill or Adjustment layer and select Gradient, the gradient is applied to the whole document rather than just the text on the layer I've selected.
Â
My text is white against a blue background..I have tried selecting the gradient "Foreground to Transparent", but can't get past the stage where that is applied to the whole document.
i use photoshop cs5.1 and want to fade the background of text, not all the picture but only back side of text.

Using CS6 on Windows 7. I've got a product photo of a product with square corners and the shot is taken on a angle so that a corner is pointed out towards you with 2 sides going away from you. I've created a copy of the layer, flipped it vertically and lowered the opacity to create a reflection. I then added a layer mask to the reflection layer and then a gradient to fade out the relection to solid white on 1 side of the product. But I need to apply a gradient to the other side of the product to fade out its reflection, but when I do this, it removes the first gradient. How can I fade out both sides of my reflection?

I'm having a difficult time wrapping my head around the best way to achieve this goal. I work with PS CS6 Extended (v 13.0.1 x32) on a Win XP sp3 platform.
I have never had this issue until CS6. I do have a Retina Macbook Pro too. Basically though, I'm building a website and need to fade out a texture to transparent. I usually do this and it works fine, but right now it is going almost straight to transparent it isn't a smooth gradual gradient.
