I have a picture that I want to use as a very muted background [ in a web site]. There will be text over it, so the picture needs to be toned down [ is that the right phrase?] so it is background material, not interferring with reading text, but still there.

Photoshop :: Fade Text From Top To Bottom

Oct 13, 2012

I'm trying to fade text from top to bottom using a path I have always followed, but isn't working now:

1. Select the layer the text is on
2. Create Fill or Adjustment Layer > select Gradient from the drop-down menu
3. Click on the Gradient bar to bring up the options
4. Adjust opacity, direction, colour > OK

When I create the Fill or Adjustment layer and select Gradient, the gradient is applied to the whole document rather than just the text on the layer I've selected.

My text is white against a blue background..I have tried selecting the gradient "Foreground to Transparent", but can't get past the stage where that is applied to the whole document.

VideoStudio :: How To Fade Titles And Background / Group Title Elements To One Object

Feb 27, 2012

I use titles a lot with VS x4 and have a couple of questions. I often use the backgrounds available in VS x4 under the titles to add style and make them more visible. I usually fade up to the title and fade back out again. However, when I do this, the title itself fades fairly smoothly but the background looks terrible. Is there any way to get titles and backgrounds to fade in/out together s-m-o-o-t-h-l-y?

Edit: Here's a video from YouTube: [URL].....

Watch the background for "Just a Good Read"... as the title fades off at the end of this title sequence, the background doesn't fade -- it just sort of snaps off. I really like the background but want it to fade in/out smoothly with the title.

Another question about titles: Is there any way to group title elements together so that they become one object? I created a complex title with lots of little elements such as dashes. However, when I move any one element, the others don't move, and lining them up again is a pain. Can I associate these items to create a single object in which everything is moved (and for that matter, sized) together?

After Effects :: How To Fade Some Text From 100% Opacity To 0% Over 45 Frames

Nov 6, 2013

I'm trying to fade some text from 100% opacity to 0% over 45 frames, and end my layer when it gets to 0, (Thus making it dissapear?). My text stays there with 0% opacity (Slightly visable), untill the next layer begins.. I don't understand why I can see it when the layer it's on has ended. I preview it with audio using num 0.

This has happened to me multiple times and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Some of my text fades and dissapears normally, but I don't understand what's different about it. I'm probably doing lots wrong, but I'm pretty new and you have to start somewhere! This is also my first post, hope it's in the right forum.

Premiere Pro :: Opacity Fade Of Titles Is Pixelating Text

Feb 15, 2014

I'm making a video with mostly titles.  I have found the video transitions to be very choppy, so I've opted to control the opacity fade of each individual title, creating keyframes that move from 0%-100% then back 100%-0%.  This simulates a nice fade from black, fade to black effect. However, when i do this all of the text in my titles pixelates.

Photoshop :: Remove Text From Background

Nov 8, 2012

I used the Flaming text effect, and I was wondering if there was a way to have just the text (with flames) and no background. I am trying to use this text to put on a video clip with effects, and would like to have the text on clip, but if I use the background You will not be able to see video effect I want behind the text. I tried the wand, and unless I missed a step or something different, it didn't work. I am a noob, but trying to learn.

Photoshop :: How To Separate Text From Background

Jun 24, 2011

I have made a digital picture of a book page with my digital camera. My camera is a 12 mpix digital camera and it should make good digital pictures, at least in theory. The original picture made by the camera was 4000 - 3000 pixels big and I made a small chunk out of it which you can find in the attachment.

My problem is how to isolate text from the background to make almost perfect text selection. I need text for the OCR procedure so the text selection needs to be appropriate.

I have already tried some simple methods like magic wand, contrasts, brightness etc but this things look like a game to me. I would like to know if there is a systematic approach (channels, masks) to perfectly isolate black color from the rest of the picture and how to apply it.

Photoshop :: Possible To Separate Text From Background

Would it be possible to separate the text from the background, as in make the white background transparent (Or as close as possible)? Normally I would use the Alpha feature on Keynote, but the font is too tricky for me to do that. It would be amazing if you could remove the background and keep all the text (including cup).

I'm having difficulty making a "spray" logo for half life as my front text layer keeps blending in with the blue background layer. The background has to be blue so it will show up as transparent in the game. It has to be PURE blue, no off shades of blue at all can be in the background. So, I need a way to prevent my text layer from blending with the blue color of the background layer.

When I try to use the clipping mask with the text over the image, it will not give me the option of the clipping mask. When I put the image over the text it then gives me the option, but cuts the image into the text....

I have a clean image and want the text to cut itself into the image.

Photoshop :: Removing Text From Background

Jul 2, 2007

Some basic question: just need remove text from image (png), text is just on white background and there are no other objects around it, so text area can be easily selected with Rectangular marquee. If I just select text with Rectangular Marquee, then use Edit > Cut this probably will be destructive editing way, which isn't good. I can also select text use Rectangular marquee then Edit > Fill and fill Contents area with Background Color.
