View 1 RepliesWhen editing an image or images in an external editor, such as CS5, OnOne, Nik, etc, LR5 places the images (when it works) at the end of the image sequence instead of where the origonal image came from and stacking the edited images with it. This is different than LR3 or LR4. LR5 does not seem to play well with Nik software either. After editing three images in Nik DHR Efex Pro 2 the saved image did not reapear in LR5. This was never a problem in LR4. Is there some 'tweeking' that needs to be done in LR5?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI get this new iMac (OS 10.8.2) and I upgrade from LR3 to LR4.1. I had Photoshop Elements 10 loaded first before LR. The problem is when I am in LR4 and I want to edit a photo in the external editor. It opens PSE10 but no window and no photo. I was able to do this easily on a Windows machine matching LR3 and PSE10 and figured this would be just as easy. Not to fast apparently. What to do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust did update to LR 4.2 When I tried to do an external edit to PS cs6, I got no options: edit original, edit a copy, edit with LR settings. It goes directly to PS without bringing the PS window to the front. It is also not added to the LR catalog. Photos are raw. Did not notice this happening before update.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know I can set LightRoom Preferences to open an image in Photoshop, but it seems my only choices are ProPhoto RGB, Adobe RGB or sRGB as working spaces. I'd like to set it up to use BetaRGB as my standard editing space. I know I could open in ProPhoto and convert to Beta RGB, but that is an extra step each and every time I edit an image. I would prefer to go straight from LR to Beta RGB in Photoshop.

I opened a DWT renamed it and saved it as a DWG, then i used the INSERT/EXTERNAL REFRENCES/ATTACH DWG to bring in drawing. When i select the explode button i cant select the drawing i need to edit.
My computer was recently repaired to remove a would be virus and my PSE 12 plug in was missing from the external editing drop down? I thought I saved the instructions, but cannot find them. I remember where to go; just don't remember what I am looking for to choose?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use 2 external editors in my work. Nik SilverEfex Pro 2 and Portrait Professional. SE creates Tiffs to work on, PP creates PSD files. I can use both plugins fine and export and tweak my images. However, my problems start on the re-import stage.
Â
So, I'm working in a Filtered list of files. They are filtered by the couples name (its a wedding). So I only see this couples wedding. I edit the files externally and they re-import. But - here's the problem, they don't show up. First off I thought that perhaps the metadata was not copied over. But it is. If I clear all filters, the images are there in the library. They also have all the metadata attached correctly and the star rating too. But, if I use the couples name to filter again - they refuse to appear in the selected group.
Â
Solution - quit LR and restart it. Now they appear! The metadata clearly hasn't changed, it was clearly there. You can read the correct keywords are there assigned to the images, but the filter refuses to see those keywords until the program is restarted. As I dip in and out of SilverEfex many, many times during a wedding edit - this is infuriating to say the least.
I have Photoshop CS3 and CS5 Extended on my computer. CS3 is the default external editing program Lightroom 5 chose to use to open files during initial setup, which causes selections such as "Open as Smart Object or Merge to Panorama" to be grayed out. How can I change the default to CS5 Extended, short of removing the CS3 version on my system?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CS5. The problem is that if I apply a custom camera color profile created by X-Rite Passport Color Checker, I can no longer use an external editor, such as Photoshop, to edit my photos. Before I apply the custom profile, the external editor function works just fine. If I apply a custom profile in the Camera Calibration panel, then the ability to use external editors no longer works. There is no error message, but nothing happens when I try to edit in an external editor. If I go back and turn off the custom profile and go back to Adobe Standard, then the external editor function works again. What is going on? Is there a way to make it possible to apply a custom profile in Camera Calibration and still be able to use the external editors?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI shoot in raw and typically edit files as ProPhoto uncompressed 16-bit TIFFs. It's been a while since I set that as my default and I can't remember what the tradeoffs were for compression and even PSD vs. TIFF. Is there a handy reference to inform these choices?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have not downloaded any images into lr5,as i am just finishing setting up all my preferences fAlso how . My catalogue is located in my f drive in a second internal drive on my desktop computer. Where is the best location for my catalogue backup? I figured i would backup the catalogue to this f drive, and also to my new 1tb external drive.  I will do this also for my images only on both drives. also how would i set up my external editing info. the custom templates. Can this info be set up later on. Is there a good link as to what this setting is and how to set it up.? also on metadata presets what categories are mandatory to fill out. I am an amateur photographer and do not publish any photos so i do not need a copyright. So I figured i would just fill out the creator section only.Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to send images from LR3 to Photoshop Elements 10 for editing and would like the copy sent to PSE 10 to be distinguished from the original by having 'Edit' added to the end. I believe LR3 does this by default (have been reading Scott Kelby's book) but I must have done something to change this and don't know how to get back to this default.
Â
Also at the end of doing some editing, the instructions in Scott kelby's book, are very clear, just press Command-S to save the image and Command-W to close it. He's very specific about not doing anything else like choose 'Save As'. But when I pressed Command-S, a box appeared and I had to choose Save As or Cancel. Is that because his instructions work with full Photoshop but not Elements 10 or am I just not understanding something fundamental here?
I want to use external edit (in my case: Adobe Photoshop Elements) for editing features not available in LR3 (for example: skew) and easily save back as JPG. The source in LR3 is a DNG-image.
Â
LR3 offers easy workflows out-to-external-editor>back-to-LR3 if you save back as TIFF or PSD.
Â
But, I didn't find any easy or not extremely clumsy way to saving the edited photo back as JPG to LR3 and having it organized "close" to the original/source-DNG (preferably stacked).
After editing a photo in an external application, only the original raw file can be seen. The edited photo is hidden, even when searched for by name.
Â
I have been reduced to the following workaround, which has the drawback of deleting all the original raw (.cr2) edits: Edit the photo; edit in external application; save and close. Back in lightroom, delete the raw file (from lightroom only); then close lightroom, reopen it and then at last I can see my edited file. Then I have to re-import the raw file and of course the edits have disappeared. But at least the final result can be seen.
Â
The photos are supposed to be in a stack, but there appears to be a bug in this function because you can only ever see the raw file.
It is set to Photoshop CS4, which I have uninistalled. I have, of course, added an "additional" external editor preference by choosing Photoshop CS6.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem following playing around (Typical, isn't it?). Architecture 2011 allows editing property sets from external objects through the host drawing (i.e. change a room number of a property set attached to a space xref'ed in from another construct). This obviously has to put an editing lock onto the xref to prevent data loss in case somebody else works on the xref in the meantime. This editing lock is removed when I close my host drawing. However, the lock is immediately restored when I re-open the host drawing.
How can I release the xref file lock again after editing the property sets in my host drawing?
I'm currently working on a Mac G3 with a G4 chip upgrade. I'm pretty short, however, on HD space (only 2.5 GB left), and I don't want to deal with putting in a new and bigger internal HD on this particular machine (too many issues there). My question is, how much of a performance drop off will I get if, instead of a new internal drive, I get a fast, FireWire, external drive?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI keep having a problem where I cannot unmount my external hard drives while Photoshop is running. I have them unchecked in the System Preference for "scratch disks", so what else can cause Photoshop to use the external disks? It's a real drag having to quit Photoshop every time I want to move my laptop into another room.
Â
(By the way, the only reason this disk is attached is it contains my music library, so no, I'm not opening files off that disk either.)
My computer is getting glitchy and I want to burn a copy of my cs6 to HD or thumb drive. I think it's legal would like to be sure. I went to pdf files suggested for another persons question but it is in every language but English???How to accomplish this burned copy

Can I instal PS CC on an external HDD so that I can take it from place to place?

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy internal driver is full on my laptop. I have to either buy a new external HD (500GB/7200rpm) or change to a larger internal one (500GB/7200 or 5400rpm). I am aware the external one will be lower compared to internal one. is it acceptable? I think that PS will use HD only when opening and saving the photos. It uses memory and scratch disk (configured on internal one) most of the time. I can not add the second internal HD. Only Photshop CS4 and MS office installed on this laption which is only used for PS. OS is window 7 64-bit with 4GB memory.

Totally new to Photoshop Elements 11. Watched tutorial videos, but still don't know how to import photos from my external HD. I search for file on E: drive and select Get Media, but all I get is the photo (have to Search to find it). The file is still on my E: and I don't see how to import a copy of the photo to my C: drive
View 2 Replies View RelatedOn a 64 bit machine with the 64 bit version of LR installed, evoking Photoshop as external editor still incorrectly opens the 32 bit version of PS, not the 64 bit as used to happen with LR4. One can work around this if one remembers to open the 64 bit version of PS beforehand, but still, this is surely an easy bug to correct.
View 7 Replies View RelatedBecause OS 10.8.2 was the worst update in Apple history, for the first time ever I decided to do the 10.8.3 update on an external boot disk before sacrificing my internal disk. I used Super Duper to make a bootable clone of my internal , booted from the external and then did the combo update.
The first app I tried was Photoshop CS 5.1. It tried to open but I got a window that said "could not inialize scratch disk because disk could not be found". After I clicked OK on that, another window said "could not open because disk could not be found" . I have never tried to open Photoshop any version from a bootable backup before and I don't know what this means. The scratch disk for Photoshop is set to be my internal drive Macintosh HD.Â
Why would it not find it? If I were booting from my internal and had set the scratch to the external it would find it. Why would the app be looking for itself on another disk?
After recloning my internal which is still 10.8.2, I have not yet booted from the external to see if the problem was somehow caused by 10.8.3, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was. People have reported the usual weird behavior of an upgrade already on forums, but not this paricular problem
Due to space problems I just moved all my photographs to a 3TB external disk. Now when I try to write metadata to a photograph in Bridge CS6 all I get is error messages and nothing gets written. If I move the photographs back to the PC everything works okay.
