I am doing basic graphic design in PS Elements 10. I'm creating what will be an car door magnet that is made up of images and text. I want to draw a rectangular outline around the entire design and can't figure out how. When I use the rectangle tool I get a big solid color box that covers everything else. I just want to make a bounding frame....

I am looking to design a grate approximately 5mX10m with holes 250mmX32mm. My first thought was to drawing the outline of the 5mX10m grate, then create an array of tiny 32mmX200mm boxes and extrude the material between the boxes and the boundary frame. Unfortunately when I create the simple array (something like 50box by 120 boxes) inventor keeps freezing I'm thinking this is too large of a patter for inventor.
How I can make the grate in a smarter/ less resource intense manner?

I do not understand how to draw a polar array around a rectangular shape. If it were a rectagular dining table of any size how do I array the dining chairs around the table's shape. Alternatively what if I had a large square table and wanted to array 12 chairs with 3 chairs on on each side of the table ????? I get polar arrays around a circle or polygon but do not understand the rectangle concept ???

It seems that if you want to repeat along non-perpendicular axes like this, Inventor fails if there are too many repeats. I came across this when searching the site:

I can verify that this is my exact problem but can add that in my example, 4 repeats on the almost horizontal axis and 3 on the vertical work fine. However, 3 almost horizontal axis repeats by 4 vertical axis repeats will only work if I choose the vertical axis as Direction 2. (Is this a bug or am I trying to use the Rectangular Pattern Tool incorrectly?)
The repeat unit can be simplified to 1 circle with 2 construction lines along the repeat Direction instead of the 2x2 circles shown here but the problem persists. Also
What would be the best approach to draw a mountain outline using a vector approach & fill, but be able to adjust the outline later via a vector approach? (i.e. outline shouldn't get rasterized)
So the approach would need to be able to:
* create the outline & selection with a vector based approach
* vector selection has to be effectively saved for later
* modification later should support getting access to the original handles of the vector selection (say with Pen tool) and make adjustment
* after adjustement of the vector area is made, the fill should automatically occur on the extended or contracted area
approach/which tools to use in CS6 to be able to do this?
I'm struggling to do the most simple thing - draw a circle outline. In PSE, all you have to do is hit the circle marquee button, then use Stroke. But how the heck do you do it in Xara?

Converting it to an outline is really easy and I have no problems with that. However, I need each individual piece of the design to be separated out as an individual object as certain pieces would get cut out of different materials.
What is the easiest way to convert this design from one big outline design, to individual components?
How do I draw an stroke/line around an rectangle shape and let it be "INSIDE of the rectangle". Like in Photoshop in the stroke layer effects.
What I have so far: I am aware of the "line" option. BUT it paints the stroke OUTSIDE of the rectangle and extends its size. This is NOT what I would like to have.
I have been doing the design and shop drawings for lattice structures using AutoCad in 2D. It works fine but there are a few problems where parts collide in final assembly. My client suggests Inventor as he thinks it iwll be faster (and thus cheaper) and it would also automatically make shop drawings of each piece.
While I have no doubt it is possible to design and draw a lattice structure in Inventor, would it be efficient or would it be a waste of time compared to another program. Would 2D AutoCad be more efficient?
I need to crop a slightly non-rectangular, four-sided image (a photo of a picture in a frame) and end up with a rectangular image. I've tried cropping and lassoing but nothing seems to do the job. how I might do this on PSE.

View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to scan an old 1888, 10x12 photo in two halves (left and right), and used the Elements Photomerge to combine the two shots. It worked quite well - slightly askew at the top edge, but the rest of the image appears to be well-stitched - to the naked eye, at least.
After sharpening the image, I went to Guided Edit and began using the brush to "heal" a few of the old marks on the image at full size - that worked well!. Until I moved my brush into the area that had been the left side, that is.. The brush no longer worked. Then I noted that the about 1/3 of the left side was not sharpened like the right side was, either! To test it further, I changed it to a black & white photo. Only that larger right section changed to black & white, and the left part of the image stayed it's old sepia color. I saved the images, closed and re-opened Elements - but had the same results. The left side just can't be edited.
Isn't there a way to edit the entire merged image?
I've saved the image as a high-quality JPEG, and also as Adobe Elements format - but they still won't fully edit. The two are large files - I was thinking that I'd need to save it at high-quality in order to end up with a nice retouched & sharpened 8x10, suitable for framing.
Also, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit on one laptop, and Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit on another..(I'm trying to get by with the Elements version I have, due to finances.)
I have read various answers regarding upgrading to new PC's using newer versions of PSE. All solutions seem to differ slightly. Any good path to follow for upgrading from PSE 4 on old windows XP PC to PSE 9 on a new Win 7 PC

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using the template from labelbythesheet.com to make stickers. When I print a sample on a plain sheet of paper everything comes out perfectly centered. When I make the circle ring invisible and print on the actual sticker paper the entire sheet is off and the stickers are unusable. I am using the correct template for the stickers purchased as I got it from their own website.
