Photoshop Elements :: Drop And Drag In PSE11 On Windows 8
Feb 6, 2013
I am running elemens 11 on windows 8 with a touch screen conputer. when I try to use the Move tool, I get the boxes around the image but I can't get it to drag and drop. What can I do?
I can't drag and drop from windows explorer into Draw x6. it didn't really bother me until today.
1. open coreldraw, new document or no document. 2. open windows explorer or any folder or any file manager. 3. Drag a jpg from the folder/explorer to Draw. and you are met with: Ø
Current System: i3 3.07ghz, 3gb ram, Windows 7 32 bit with all updates and X6
I just upgrade to Windows8 x64 and I'm using Illustrator 64 CS6.  I am trying to drag and drop a TIF file off my desktop in to a document like I have so many times before in Illustrator but my cursor is showing the 'No' symbol (circle with line thru it).  It is working in Photoshop tho.
I'am using Photoshop Elements 11 on my Windows 8, but when creating a catalog everytime I press the button the organizer will crash "Elements 11 organizer has stopped working".I had done re-installing and deleting the file folder before re-installing the software but the problem still occur. I haven't used the software because I just bought it and had done nothing yet with it.
I am a Windows user moving to a Mac. I did a backup of my (Windows) Photoshop Elements 11 catalog on an external drive in preparation for restoring in on my MacBook pro.  I've read a number of different posts on here regarding the restore process and gathered the following information:  1) Open up Elements 11 on the Mac and select File > Restore Catalog
2) Navigate to external drive and select the .tly file. (choose as source of restore)  Backup folder contents on external drive (former Windows Catalog to be used on Mac)  1) My backup folder contains about 9,500 items. The majority of the files all beging with a "B" and are jpg files. However, a small number also end with the following: .cache, .dat, and .xml. Should these be in the backup file?  2) I also have "Catalog.buc" and "Backup.tly" files within my backup folder on my external drive  Question(s)
1. Based on the information I've read online, it would appear that the only thing I want to be concerned with in the backup folder is the "Backup.tly" and the other files contained within my backup folder on my external drive aren't relevant to the restore. Is that correct?  2. Do I need to select anything else as part of the restore process after selecting the "Backup.tly" on my external drive? For example, do I have to point to a folder on my Mac for the restore to occur or will this happen automatically since I will already have Photoshop Elements 11 open on my MacBook pro when I am performing the restore process?  3) Currently, I have hundreds of "folders" under "My Pictures" on my Windows machine that separate out each event (Xmas 2010, Xmas 2011, etc.). Up until now I haven't been using the tagging feature within Photoshop. My initial intent was to copy the "My Pictures" folder from my C drive on my Windows machine to the "Pictures" folder on my Mac. (not planning to import them into iPhoto).  Will PSE 11 on my Mac be able to "find" this new path for the photos that were moved from my Windows machine to the "Pictures" folder on my Mac? Do I need to do something to make sure this happens during the restore process on my Mac?  As an example, the patch for a random photo in PSE 11 on my Windows machine looks like the following:  C:Documents and SettingsTomMyDocumentsMyPicturesXmas 2010 (as an example for one of the pictures contained in my Windows catalog)
Clearly, this path won't exist on my MacBook Pro and I just want to make sure I know whether or not I have to do something to redirect the pictures in my (restored) catalog.
having this problem with PSE11 in Windows 8! In sharing preferences, I am only given one option -- Adobe mail. And it won't work. I've used that service before on my work computer running PSE9 and Windows XP. Why don't I get the Windows Mail option? What good is it anyway, sitting there on the start screen and seems to be unavailable otherwise -- I'm usually working from my desktop. I dual boot to Windows XP and have Office 2003 installed there and am able to email photos via Outlook (not express) -- works good. Unfortunately, Office 2003 is not compatible with Win 8 64bit. What do I do now? I saw the tip about downloading and installing Windows Live Mail for Win 7. I thought it was built into Windows 8? Arguablly Windows 8 is a goofy operating system, at least for desktop PCs!
A lot of pictures of my collection do have GPS-data in EXIF-header. Sometimes they are shown on the world-map, sometimes not. In list-view they are never shown. The list-view knows only locations, which are matched with PSE.
The EXIF-input was made by two different tools (Holux GPS Software and Geosetter 3.4.16).
How can I get the list-view for the saved files without using PSE adding location?
I am running elements 10 on I-Mac with montain lion With a new blank page when I drag and drop from the Project Binto Panel bin the pic is black & white why
PS Elements 10, v.10.0 (20110831.m.17215)  27" Mid-2011 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 12 GB RAM, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4  I have a very simple question, for which I can find NO answer: since I upgraded my Mac OS to Lion, I can no longer grab an image -- or, most importantly, several images from several locations on my several drives -- then drag and drop them on the PS Elements 10 icon in my Dock, or on the PS Elements 10 icon in my Applications folder, and have PS Elements 10 automatically boot open, and load these images into the Editor workspace. I try it, and PS Elements 10 just sits there and refuses to open. I could do this in Snow Leopard, and I can do this in Lion with EVERY other app I have (providing I'm dragging and dropping files that the apps recognize). As I have many images in many files, this is, obvious
Trying to drag an edited picture from photobin in Elements 12 onto a blank documents. Elements is resizing my photo to fit the blank document. I don't want it to resize. I want to drag and drop multiple photos onto a new blank doument as I have in other versions.
I have recently upgraded from PSE 10 to 11. In 10 I used to drag People tags onto autodetected faces which would server to add the tag as well label the mark of the face (2 birds with one stone). In 11 when I attempt to drag and drop a People tag onto a marked face, the square and the "Who is this" disapears. The only way I can find to actually mark the face is by actually typing the name for each person. Definitely a more painful way of doing it versus drag and drop. Did Adobe drop this feature or is this a bug I can expect to be fixed in an upcoming update? Or is this problem that is just local to my machine?
When I move a directory to another location using drag and drop in the Elements 11 Organizer folder tree most, if not all, of the images become unlinked. What is the right way to move a directory and have the image paths updated in the Organizer database?
After updating to Photoshop Elements 12.1, the move tool can not be used to drag and drop one photo onto another (when more than one photo file is opened).Â
In my previous version of Elements, I was able to duplicate a layer (which was a picture) and then drag and drop a new picture into that layer. How can I do this with Elements 12, since the drag and drop option doesn't work? Â I am using this for a "scrapbook" photo page, where there are multiple photos and text on the page.
I have just bought Elements 12. Great programme. I used to use Picasa 3, a good free programme. In Picasa it is easy to move images around in their folders by simply click, drag and drop. This does not work in elements. Is it possible to achieve this somehow?
I'm having this problem since the last time I formatted my computer. Basically, when I try to drag an image into photoshop, the cursors changes into a circle with a slash in it (unavailable).
I can open files by right clicking and choosing "Open with -> Adobe Photoshop CS6", and I can also open with "File > Open..." (ctrl+O)
I've searched for a soltion for this and nothing worked. This is what I've tried doing so far:
- Resetting the preferences (ctrl+alt+shift) - Running with administative rights - Running without administrative rights - Making sure I have premissions for the files - Making sure the files are not set as read-only - Changing the scratch disk option (Preference -> Performance) Â None of these worked. Â Here are my PC specs: OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1 CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.50GHz RAM: 4.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 400MHz Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. G31M-ES2L Graphic Card: 1024MB GeForce GT 240 (nVidia)
My Adobe PhotoDeLuxe was unfortunately deleted and I had to buy Photoshop, which is far less convenient for my needs. How can I drag and drop, or copy and paste, an image I have modified in Photoshop directly into another programme, in my case usually MS Publisher ? Â Is there a way that, when I double click an image in My Pictures, I do not have to watch a long list of the people who designed Photoshop before I can actually use it?
I've been using photoshop cs6 Extended for almost a year now and never have had any problems with it. Recently however, I purchased a desktop with Windows 8, and when I reinstalled Photoshop on that, I have had problems since. When I move to drag something onto photoshop (Whenetheir it's from the internet or a folder on my Computer), A black Stop icon that represents my mouse refuses to let me. I can still open files normally with the "Open" tab in Photoshop I've already tried the following:
Running as both adminstrator and non-adminstartor Made sure "Clip thumbnails to document bounds" is checked" Resetting Photoshop Preferences Made sure none of files I wanted to drap and drop were "Read only" In addition, When I'm moving files, the background for some reasons flickers My OS is Windows 8 and my Version of photoshop is cs6 extended.  Â
I'm using CS4 and haven't had this problem before. After loading various actions, I am unable to drag and drop them into one of my sets. The actions either drop above or below the set. I'd appreciate any suggestions.
I could always drag an image from a browser window onto photoshop and work further with it. But now this trick doesn't work anymore. When I drag now onto PS, PS show a dialog box with sizes and stuff and when I click 'ok', I only get a white canvas with the wrong sizes and when I paste (maybe the image 'hangs' in the clipboard) it pastes nothing..
when you drag and drop from firefox into photoshop, more than half the time you get an error message.
firefox 3.0 is coming out (beta was released), and Firefox DISABLED draging an image into photoshop as a NEW image, you can only drag images into other already open images
we NEED the ability to drag in images as new photos,
when you drag and drop from firefox into photoshop, more than half the time you get an error message.
Well firefox 3.0 is coming out (beta was released), and Firefox DISABLED draging an image into photoshop as a NEW image, you can only drag images into other already open images.
I don't know what made it stop but at this point it's beginning to bug me to no end. I can no longer simply drag a file into Photoshop. I now have to go to "file --> open" in order to get anything into. Is there anything I can do to restore the ability to drag and drop? Just to let you know I reset the preferences already and that did nothing. The other thing is I'm running Windows 7, however I've never had an issue with PS on it. I'm using CS4.
I'm using Photoshop CS6 and when I drag and drop a color image from one screen to another, all the color disappears and the color image becomes B&W. Additionally, when I tried to use my brush tool to color the B&W image, the only color that works is gray - even though I used the color picker to select an exact match brush color.
In CS4 when I had multiple files open and wanted to copy a layer to another file I would display the files on the desktop as tiled. That enabled me to drag and drop layers to other files, new files, whatever. How do I do this in CS6?
I loved an ability in Photoshop 5 to just drug and drop layer onto different doc tab to paste it. But seems like i cant do this anymore in Photoshop 6. Are the copy/paste and arrange docs the only ways to move layers in to a new location in cs6?
