Photoshop :: Elements Does Not Have CMYK Option For Photos
Jul 19, 2012
I use photoshop elements on the mac. I will be color correcting photos for a project and must convert to CMYK format. Elements does not have a CMYK option for photos. Can I purchase an upgrade of Photshop Elements, or do I need to upgrade to full Photoshop?

I'd like to convert a file from RGB to CMYK. Normally, I can go into Assign Profile, and just select CMYK. However, in this case (actually hundreds of files), none of them have CMYK as an option. So, all the files remain in Untagged RGB, when I need them to be CMYK US Web Coated SWOP.

I am using InDesign for a class presentation. I was told I should convert any Photoshop images that I use from RGB to CMYK for printing, but I am just printing it at home on my little desk-jet.
Second question: If it IS necessary, why do I get a alert in Photoshop saying "You are about to convert to CMYK using 'U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2' profile.

I'm doing a set of postcards that will send to print using offset.
I will tidy up in PS and correct in Lightroom.
It's just when I make the corrections in LR(inRGB) and send to PS to convert to CMYK.
I convert to CMYK in PS only to loose some colour corrections.
you can only export as RGB in lightroom.
So what is Lightroom used for then? Only digital print or web? Does RAW have a CMYK function?
How can I maintain the correct colour to output as CMYK onto an offset printer using LR?
What is the best way to colour correct Photos for CMYK?

Description of the task: I want to create a tool which is able to visualize the positions of pieces on a game board. At the moment I'm using Photoshop Elements 7. I think the following procedure would be appropriate:
2 layers, the basic layer would show the game board and the images of the pieces would be on the second layer. If I try to do that with Photoshop Elements 7 then each time when I insert an image of a piece a new layer is created. I don't need a layer per figure. Yes, one could reduce a layer afterwards. But it's not so comfortable this way.
In addition the images of the pieces should be movable on the game board. There is the option "free transform" in Photoshop Elements 7 but only one element (one piece) is movable afterwards. All the inserted elements should be movable.
So my question: Is it feasible within Photoshop Elements 7? If not, which version of Photoshop Elements would be adequate or which software do I need?

I need to create a document, which i want to print, in CMYK mode, but this is not possible on Photoshop elements 5. Apparently Photoshop doesn't support CMYK. Some of my colleagues are graphic designer who also work with Photoshop and they say, that CMYK is always available... I don't understand why it's not available on my software. Do i need to change the setting or something?

When opening my jpeg photos in Photoshop elements 9, once saved elements seems put the image in a format that my Apple Mac isn't compatible with. So when I then try and upload the images to Facebook or other software in a bulk upload the images are highlighted and I therefore can't select them and upload.

Premiere Elements 12 does not import CMYK still images as it is time consuming to have to keep converting to RGB. Does Adobe propose to remedy this? Also, a 'generic failure' message is not exactly useful. And it would also be useful it the official Adobe list of acceptable files made it clear that CMYK could not be imported. I always thought that Adobe were experts when it came to file formats. How would we manage without Adobe Photoshop?

New user to PSE11. Is it recommended that ALL photos be in albums or is the idea that photos in albums are a subset of the photos in folders? With all the sort and search functionality, I don't understand the benefit of albums.I name my image folders using a standard naming convention with the date embedded so it makes them rather easy to manage.

The instructions in Adobe Photo Elements 11 Classroom In a Book are the classic Windows "Drag and Drop" Method. However, when I try to do it, the cursor/icon I am dragging turns into a gray circle with a gray diagonal when it reaches the Media Browser pane in the Organizer and the folder/photo is not imported into the Organizer when I "drop." Do I need to change setting in Windows (Vista, SP2) or Photoshop Elements 11?

I just upgraded to photoshop elements 11. When I attempt to sync photos in iTunes (to synch with my iPhone), Photoshop Elements appears in the drop down and when I select it, it finds all the "albums" in the catalog. However, when I select an album to sync, iTunes indicates 0 photos are available in the album.
I'm running photoshop elements 11, iTunes 11.0.1.12, Windows 8 Pro.
if I try to sync "all photos and albums" it still reports that there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've tried to make new albums, which iTunes "sees" the names, but there are "0 photos" available to sync.
I've also tried to sync with a folder (file system) which works just fine.
