I was told that if you resample by using exact multiples of the original file percentage size such as 100% to 50%, or 100% to 200% that image quality isn't compromised as much.
View 2 RepliesI want to resize an image without loosing picture quality but I'm not making it larger - I'm making it smaller. For example, there are small stars in the background which seem get deleted when I resize it.
But here's the thing - After resizing it (but before "confirming" my changes), it looks perfect. Then I hit enter and then it deletes certain details. Basically I can look at the image at the size and quality I want in PS but I can't save it that way. And it's not a matter of saving it with a higher quality level, it happens as soon as I resize. WTF?
how do I close out of elements 12 without loosing all unedited pictures- I want to work on them at a later time

I am doing the artwork for an album I am working on and need some help resizing the cover image. As of right now the image is around 3000x3000 resolution, but it needs to fit on a 5.5"x5.0" template. I copied the image from photoshop into illustrator and used free transform to scale it to the correct size. However, the image was pixelated and unusable. So I basically want to know the best way to do it without losing quality. Also, should I add the text before or after its been resized?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI know I have an out dated version of VS, but all my videos are shot on a DV camera with 4.3 resolution.When I'm done editing I burn to a DVD using the VS program.
The quality of the DVD in not that good for some reason.I have checked all the properties and they seem to be right.But being a novice maybe the're not.If I save the file as an AVI then import it into another program (in this case Power Producer) to burn,I get a much better quality DVD.
PS. The reason Im sticking with VS 7 is that I can navigate around it fairly easily.Not saying Im confident, but enough to get by.May look into upgrading to a new version in the future with a new HD camera too.But for now VS 7 works fine for me.
I am trying to import photos from my computer to Photoshop elements 11. It has imported most but wont import some as "file quality is too high". How do I get around this? Do I have to downgrade the quality of my photos? To do editing wouldn't you want the best quality photos to start off with?

There seem to be an action uploadable on Photoshop to keep the quaity of the photo before uploading it to facebook. Is there a similar action/present for lightroom 5 as well?

How can I keep the quality of my jpg pictures while working with adobe Photoshop? After using layers and flattening Istill have jpg and good quality, but when I save the picture its all of a sudden a photoshop format which I have to change to jpg and than there is no quality left.

When I produce a slide show using Elements 11 the pictures are no way near as clear as they appear in the folders. I just want to show my pictures without them looking like crap. They were taken using the highest quality photo on the camera, which is a new Nikon and look great when viewing through Elements Organiser. They also look amazing in the original source, eg My Pictures files. When making slide show it asks the quality and I select high.
View 25 Replies View RelatedI'm pretty new to photoshop, and I've started on a personal project. I want to basically take a video still from a music video and turn it into a poster. Sadly i can not find a good quality version of the video as it is older and not super famous, (kyuss-one inch man). So i found an online video that is better then youtube but not great, and i captured it through the vista snipping tool (screen capture).
Basically I want to take this low quality picture, and turn it into a good quality poster (not huge). What techniques and things must I do? I'll probably have to find a printer near here and require a specific dpi as well.
In Elements 11 on a Windows 8 64 bit machine. I can upload photos to Facebook using the standard quality without any problems.
However if I select the High quality option, the upload appears to work, I get the progress bar, and the done message, and if I select a new album the album is created on Facebook, but the album is empty and the photos do not appear anywhere in etiher the newly created album, or an existing album if that has been selected.
The orignal files are JPGs around 7.5MB in size.
I want to know how to resize a photo without loosing quality....... in the image resize box the is a check box that says maintain file size ......what does that do .
I have tried to resize using it and the file stays the same as the original.
I have one hard disk filling up with photos, so I have purchased a secondary hard disk to expand my storage. I would like to move my shoots from 2010 to that new hard disk, but I don't want to loose all of the edits saved on them in LR3. I have experimented with moving non-important images that have edits on them, then re-importing them. Unfortunately, LR3 does not preserve that history.

The "more options" menu doesn't provide for "printing choices" and "show captions" for picture package, and I'm not sure how else to do two pictures per page. Is there another way to get the captions to print out when printing two per page? The captions print when I print individual photos.

I am currently moving files aboout on three different drives and have found that I have to constantly go back manually and search out files to re-establish connections. THis gets to be quite time-consuming as I have over 10,000 pics on these three drives. What am I doing wrong> What is actually happening to these files when I organize them? I am constantly re-filing these pics for different purposes and I thought I could get around this with Elements.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried this feature with mixed results. Scaning 2,3 or 4 pictures of different sizes, changing angles using an HP8600 Multifunction device. I have tried both scannig using HP software and directly with Elements at 200, 300 and 600 dpi. Elemets will sometime split off one of the pics but is not reliably sepatating them all. What ca I do to improve my results? I have a lot of pics to scan and really don't want to do them one at a time.

I've tried to improve the picture quality in Photoshop 7.0 myself but I just can't seem to get this picture to look any better.

I know how to make it grainy and lower the contrast a bit, which helped, but the pictures are still very crisp and clear. I don't want them out of focus, but a little blurry to look as if they were captured on something like a camera phone.

I need better res files to send to the publisher, I'm hoping we can save it out such that it will be 600dpi?

I have the new VS x4. My experience with both x3 and x4 have been good. They produce an excellent DVD. In most cases , I use both video and pictures . My problem is with my pictures that are portrait format. When I play them on the TV, they are not sharp as with landscape pictures. Some are some what distorted. My thought is, they have to be compressed for the Tv screen, but not sure.

My question is, after I create my new image for 16 x 20, if I scale up my picture (design) layer to 16x20, will that produce poor quality? Or am I just "stretching" the pixels?
