When I create an image layer (say 1.5 x 1.5 inches) and when I set that image onto a background (say 2.5 x 2.5 inches) the image expands to the larger background size.
Why? Or what am doing wrong that would cause this to happen. I recently upgraded from PSE 9 to PSE 12. This was never an issue with PSE 9.
When I open an image, it appears in the layers palette as layer 1. I want it to be the background layer.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to crop or resize an image that is originally 2,122 x 1,415 px | 7.1 x 4.7 in | 300 dpi. I am to crop/resize image to fit 756 x 275 px. However, I don't want to lose the whole image. I would like to use the whole image just adjust it to the dimensions.
How can I accomplish this without creating any distortion or by removing elements by cropping the image?
Is it possible to change the image size in Layer 1 independently of the Background image?

I only seam to find answers as "change it to 16 bit" but that's not a solution. In previous versions of Photoshop you were able to composite images in 32 bit.
I'm having issues with my text editor. I have just completed a multilayered composite image with a border and want to add a title on the background layer and can't get the type font to be anything other than very tiny...so I can't even see it.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI open a jpg image. It becomes "background" and locked in layers panel. I want to edit it so i click in layers panel, and get a box where I can call the layer a name and it changes from background to layer ( in my beginner´s terminology...)
When I click on "Ok" the image disappears, or really i think it becomes transparent, because in layer´s panel it is still visible. What has happened? I have done well all day, and suddenly this happens.

I recently purchased elements 12. When using layers, I noticed the background layer was only partially locked and not fully locked as I was assuming it should be. I couldn't find anywhere that I could change this.

But it still has a square white background surrounding the feather. When I look at the Layer panel , the transparent added layer is showing nothing. The selection did not appear on the layer. It is shown as "locked" with a padlock. Then I open an image file (.jpg) to add to the background layer, and I get a message that I need to unlock the background layer so I click to unlock it. However the added image locks onto the background layer and doesn't make a new layer. If I open another image file it locks on top of the others.

View 3 Replies View RelatedStarted working with PSE and when I tried to "stamp" a brush shape (whether default brushes or otherwise), the program does something it had never done before....SEE ATTACHED. I will create a new layer to use my brush, but when I try to "stamp" it onto background, the program then creates a layer mask where I can see the brush shape AND a new layer, however ALL that shows up on the background is the icon you can see in my screen grab I am attaching here. What is this icon? (The teeny one middle right of image, black square, outlined in red, with two red circles in the middle) I called Apple, we did a few things, they said it wasn't on there end. I reset my tools, I uninstalled, reinstalled, to no avail. Again, I've reset all tools, the "eye" icon on layers panel shows it should be visible, I've tried layers-->merge visible, I've uninstalled and reinstalled.....
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Photoshop Elements 10 on Win 7 PC. I am trying to print multiple copies of one image on a single 8.5x11 sheet of paper? The images are artwork for buttons (to be used in button-making machine) so the dimensions must be exact on the duplicated images. When I select Picture Package, the images are resized to fit the dimensions in the picture package. When I select Contact Sheet, the images are resized to fit the number of columns I selected. Neither is acceptable. How can I repeat the same image on a single piece of paper without having the system re-size the image? I know that I can manually create a new PSE file and manually insert the images into this file. This is what I have been doing as a work-around.

I'm trying to apply a layer of #7C6844 with the color effect at 56% opacity and a layer of #999999 with the color burn effect at 12% opacity to the foreground image which has a transparent background. This task has proved to be rather impossible for me, but it seems like there should be a way to do it. I would use the wand tool > select inverse and apply the colors over top that way, but the foreground image has a lot of leaves and branches, so that method would be extremely tedious.
Is there a way I can select the entire image as a whole and leave out the background?
I'll attach the image and the desired result to further assist.
I want to keep the width pixel size the same but change the height of the background layer (canvas). When I unchecked constrain proportions and choose reshape, of course the proportions are off on the layers within and when I try to resize each of those layers, they become blurry.

It deletes the current background and inserts the photo that I have selected but it seems to be about 50% opacity. I can see the photo and it is half faded with the white and grey square background.

is this normal? my docked control is not 407 wide....
it was 350 the entire design phase! and if it added 57 it would be one thing but it "stretches" half the controls and leaves the rest so they overlap!
