View 1 RepliesI am having trouble figuring out how to use layers to edit digital photographs. Based on the online tutorials I've viewed, I'm under the impression that in order to edit parts of a photograph without affecting the original background image, I am supposed to create a layer for each set of edits I want to make and then merge these layers together to form a complete edited image with all the touch ups I want to make. I am also under the impression that any edits I make to the layers I create should not be showing up in the original background image, otherwise I have no way of comparing the original to the edited parts of the image to see if everything looks the way I want. Is there any way to make edits to image layers without these changes showing up in the original image and if so, how do I do it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI went into Windows 7 Picture Manager and annotated the images with a number and a short description. This gets them into the order that I want. When I imported them into a newly acquired Elements 11, the program put them into DATE order. How can I get the sequence into the order that I WANT, ie, by image name, something that W7PM does quite happily?

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow should I size a photograph to attach it in sensible proportions to an e-mail when using Elements 11? In Elements 9 I set the dpi at 72 and then the longest length at 1024mm. he shortest length was set automatically by the programme. Elements 11 doesn't allow me to do this. I've tried starting off with 72 dpi but as soon as I enter the longest length the dpi changes. This did not happen with E9 and in E9 the size of the attachment was measured in KB's but with E11 I finish up with quite large MB sizes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use photoshop elements 10 with the organizer as my photo catalog. I have deleted my photos off my iphone. I want to get a selet few of the photographs back onto my phone. I thought the easiest way would be to use iphoto with itunes. I don't want to email myself each individual photograph back to myself. My filing system is as following tree
Pictures/photoshop/Each year I have take photographs/Month I have taken photographs/
itunes does not recongize all the sub folders so I would have to download the whole catalog into my iphone.
Prefer this method would be to make up an iphone album in the organizer and just have these photos downloaded to my phone.
Even if I did this system, however, the mac version of photoshop elements does not let you export photos to create a folder in my system for itunes to syn with.
I wish to reset the order of an album containing many photographs. The current album order is somewhat random. I'd like to rest the album order to date/time order as the first stage to sorting the photos as I want them, which is not strict date/time order. How can I do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI wish to report a bug that has been present in x4 and x5 regardless of SP or updates installed. Due to this bug I use X3 as it was the last version that worked for me.
The bug is that several menu buttons on the Edit screen will not display correctly, it is as if the icon is corrupted. This happens with the free trial version as well as with a registered version with updates installed.
See the attached screen shot as it explains this much better.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a text box and type all of the fonts are all basically the same. They donot display correctly. I uninstalled and re-installed photoshop elements 11 and they still do not work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I write text in a free style I'm unable to adjust the line spacing anymore - it turns out much to big and whatever value I choose it's every time the same !?!When trying text in a box it's all OK, but I seldom use text in a box..I'm using PSE since 11/2012 and the problem occured just now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using PSE 11 & Windows 7. Was working just fine. I opened up some RAW photos through the organizer; selected a file to view, and clicked on editor > photo editor to open and edit it. This worked fine, too. It would open in the RAW editing window first (where I make the RAW adjustments like exposure, etc.) and then I'd click open image and edit in PSE 11 just like I wanted to.
I did this for several photos, got up to go to the bathroom, and came back to my cat on my laptop keyboard. Of course.
Now, after rebooting, reopening PSE, rebooting again,I cannot view my photo in the editor. I go to PSE organizer, find my RAW photo, and click on editor > photo editor just like I used to. It flashes "edit in progress" just like it should, flips over to the empty PSE 11 window, and just sits there. Empty. The photo's not showing up.
I've clicked every button/setting/menu I can find. In the bottom toolbar there's the option "show open files" or "show files selected in organizer". When I click "show files selected in organizer", a tiny preview of the photo I'd selected shows up in the lower toolbar, but not in the main gray workspace. Taunting me. I've click-dragged, right clicked, etc. when I just try to open the file from PSE, instead of going through organizer, it doesn't work either.
Do other people have an issue in Photoshop Elements 12 with it not consistently saving photos in version sets? someties it works correctly and somethimes it doesn't and it also bumps me out stating it is a new photo. i do have it configured to always save in version sets and to not notify me with new photos?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have tried the alt/ctrl/shift to no avail. LR4 will display them correctly as will Windows Live Photo Gallery. I've deleted from catalog and re-imported with same result. Using the "update thumbnail" tool does not work. Some times it will display item as an MP3 file that shipped with PE11. The mp4 files were created with Cyberlink PD10.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a PhotoShop Elements with >12,000 images. I have keywords assigned and some are rated.
My computer has gone from WinXP to Win7. I have also had several different hard drive upgrades.
I currently have C:, D:, E: as available hard drives and F: and G: as Optical drives.
When I import, it has the correct number of photos, but thinks that everything is on F:. I believe that the E: drive used to be a different volume number previously.
I can manually refind every folder, but that will be very time consuming as I have around 100 folders.
Is there some way to say "Use E: instead of F:"
I saved an image attached to an email in jpg with 4000 x 2664 pixels to the organizer. Even though I designated jpg format, it was saved in png and was downsized to 150 x 100 pixels. How do I save the attachment in jpg format and not be downsized?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have some problems with th CLONE STAMP TOOL at the right hand. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. I do the correct thing: I press ALT-button, the click.

I opened up an old catalog in PSE 11 which was created in a PSE 10. This catalog has been converted.
Then I click grid I see about a hundred folders down the left hand side of screen. These folders are names of the location the pictures were taken. If I select a folder & click on it I see that almost all of the thumbnails have the tag indicator located in the bottom right hand corner of the thumbnail. If I hover the mouse over the indicator I sometimes see tag names for places, people or events.

When I start up PSE11 and go to print I set up the paper size then select a Printer Profile. When print the image it is a mess and seem to be black and white it is as if I printed on the wrong side of the paper.
I then go and try to print it again. Now it all works as it should beutiful colours and spot on. all other print following this works.
Then I shut down PSE11. Start it up again. Guess what first print is a mess again. all others after are fine.
I uninstalled PSE11, deleted prefs. and reinstalled PSE11. Same thing.. first print a mess all others ok.
no problems with PSE10 or PSE9.
I am trying to access the edit original (edit with) option to edit a photo that has not been edited yet. I right click and go through the edit menu and does not appear or is not available? Would I have to reopen it manual in photoshop or is there a way around this to access that setting? it sometimes does not appear on my already edited photos.
I would prefer not to open each photo again, as some files i do not have and were imported into the document with another computer.
I use the Magnetic Lasso in CS to guide a line along the edge of the backdrop between the ground and the sky. It takes time and can be a pain if there are trees. Then I create another layer and place in a more agreeable sky.
Question. Is this the only way to effect the solution to the problem above. I have tried the magic wand and in reality it is more of a problem.
Is it possible to create a 3D composite photograph of a person using photoshop?
My 13-year-old wants to design her own clothes, for which she wants to create a 3-D dummy of herself. She was asking me today whether a series of full-length photos of her standing motionless on a revolving platform, could be combined using Photoshop (or some other program to make a 3D composite image. (I own Creative Suite 2.)
