View 2 RepliesEvery time you duplicate a folder or a layer, it adds the word "Copy" at the end. Is there a way to get rid of this?
I've been looking for a solution to this for the past 2 years. I spend 8 hours a day in Photoshop creating Comps. I'm crazy about having my layers clean, therefore I use a lot of folders, etc.
I probably waste an hour a day removing the $%)?#* Copy word at the end of layers/folders. This is driving me CRAZY while losing a lot of precious time.
Is there any way to say to PS so it will duplicate X layer to "document -1"? When I record and duplicate it saves it at strictly to Y document not to "document" -1 or +1 or +x.
View 7 Replies View RelatedUnless PS has been updated to make this a feature, i may have found a bug. Now (in CS6 vs. previous versions) when you duplicate a shape layer, if you had previously selected specific points of the shape (for example with the direct selection tool) only those points will be duplicated in the new layer. This is true no matter what tool you are currently using.
What I did was make a rounded-corner rectangle shape -> then direct selected all points on one side to stretch the rectangle without distorting the rounded corners -> then switched to the move tool so no points were selected anymore and only the layer was selected-> duplicate layer (with the intention of duplicating the whole shape). what i got was just the rounded corners on a new layer.
It seems the only way to duplicate the shape layer in its entirety is to go back with the direct select tool -> select ALL points of the whole shape -> change to move tool -> dupe layer.
If that's the intended new functionality, it's a bummer because if you intend to only duplicate certain points, you can already do that while using the direct select tool. Using the move tool, it shows no direct selections and therefore you should be able to duplicate the whole layer.
Maybe I have some weird default option checked that I'm not familiar with? This is not how any previous versions of PS worked and will add friction to my workflow if this is new.
In order to make a copy of a layer. I know I make a copy of the layer, but then I'm having issues taking the layer, and reversing it horizontally so that I can create a new layer using the previous copied layer. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, and I've been experimenting with it. I'm now able to create really nice and curvy looking hills, but still just not able to copy it, and reverse it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt's duplicating the layer style along with the layer which is fine but now when I change the style on one layer it changes all of those other layers as well. Is there a way to turn this off? I even tried removing the style and adding it new and it still changes the original!
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a sample 3d eCover and I want to fit an image over the front part. However, I'm having a hard time transformating my image to perfectly the front layer. Is there any option to apply the same transformation of my front cover layer to my image?
Additional info:
1. The front cover layer of the 3D eCover is not yet merged with the other layers. So, I can still edit it.
2. I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS6.
I want to create a plug-in that will improve detail in under- and over-exposed areas of photos, but I can't get as far as duplicating a layer. I'm new to GIMP plug-ins. My plug-in below is intended to create a copy of the image's layer and add the layer to the image.
The plug-in will register in Windows 7 (GIMP 2.8) but won't register in Ubuntu 12.04 (GIMP 2.6.12). In Windows, the plug-in gives an error. I don't get an error if I comment out line 8: Code:
In my previous version of Elements, I was able to duplicate a layer (which was a picture) and then drag and drop a new picture into that layer. How can I do this with Elements 12, since the drag and drop option doesn't work?
I am using this for a "scrapbook" photo page, where there are multiple photos and text on the page.
I want to duplicate & then rename a project I have stored on my vault computer, However I am experiencing many difficulties.
There are probably around 1000 + files in this project-multiple assemblies/drawings & parts. Initially i did a Pack & Go of the Project to my desktop. I then took my first top level drawings & using Design Assistant renamed all the reference parts and assemblies related too it. This worked fine, albeit a very long time to rename all the files.
The problem is that i have say 50 drawing files, some contain similar assemblies/part files which will have already been rename in the first top level drawing & some container different assemblies/parts (which are not related to the first top level drawing) & will have to be renamed separately.
Is there an easier way to duplicate & rename a vault project because design assistant makes this task extremely laborious. An great tool to add would be to 'Find & Replace' a file name & apply it too all the files. Similar to the function in Microsoft Word.
I have looked into the copy design feature in vault however, you can only copy a project within a project, you cannot copy it to a completely new folder in the vault.
The other problem is, is that you can only add a prefix or suffix to every file/related part/assembly, & i would rather replace the project number rather then add the new project number to the file names. This would be a viable option if you could rename multiple files quickly, however this just stems back to the design assistant.
I am using elements 9. I duplicate a photo on one layer to a new file it has a green cast over it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I insert one layer from one image file to another file I find it difficult to align it. I ensure that both layers are the same DPI and the same pixel dimension. But when I drag one layer on the other file it is hard to align it so that it exactly lays on top/underneath the other. And even when I ensure thet layer is the same size it doesn't always seem to align size wise with the existing layer. This is the one area that I am struggling wtih on Elements and I want to use this a fair amount. I had Elements 11 and have just upgraded to Elements 12. Haven't seen a tutorial video on this, but maybe I missed it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can no longer drag and drop photos within photoshop elements 12. When working with a layer, I want to move it to a layer within another existing file, and no longer have the option. The only way I have fixed the issue in the past is uninstall and reinstall the program. I've read other forum posts and followed the instructions by resetting preferences and it does not work.

How do I edit the text layer? How do I save the finished work product? The background layer is locked. I can't unlock it. I have tried any number of approaches none of which open the text layer for editing.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using ACAD 2005 and am trying to copy&paste several objects from a layer I created in one .dxf file to one of the 2 standard layers (0 or Defpoints) in a new blank .dxf file.
My problem though is that if I copy and paste all of the objects (or even one of them) and them move to the new file and paste, it pastes the objects, but also "imports" into the new file the original file's layer that these objects were on.
For clarity, the new file only has the 2 standard layers and then after copy/pasting an object, the file manager shows the 3rd layer from the original file.
I have two maps of same area (different years) and I want to match them up as one map. I can load them both as layers and make the older map transparent so that I can see through to newer map, but older map is larger than the newer map (in the background). I can move the transparent map but I cannot make just the transparent map smaller to fit over the other map. I will also need to rotate the map slightly. When I try to resize it changes both maps. I have tried the transform and the move tool. So how can I make one layer smaller and rotate it it leaving the other layer intact?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to copy a mask from one layer to a new layer in Elements 11. I can do this in CS3 by using alt and dragging to the new layer. It doesn't work in Elements 11. Is this feature unavailable in elements 11 or is there a different command? there doesn't seem to be much point in spending all that time making a complex layer amsk and then being unable to use it on another layer.
I have to give a tutorial on layer masks using both CS3 and elements at the Camera Club!
I've just run into another new thing in PS. If you Option (Alt) Click on any previous history state in the history palette (not the latest one) it is copied. I can't imagine what this is good for. Perhaps because I use linear history rather than non-linear history?

I've tried creating brushes and stamp patterns but neither does the simple task that I'm looking for. I just want to be able to place a full image the way you would place any shape with a paint brush.
Suddenly when I click on the CS6 clone stamp tool and then ALT Click to select an area to use as the clone are, it duplicates the whole picture. The only way I can get out of the whole picture cloning is to close the file. what has happened and how to fix it?
