I use different catalogs in my PSE10 for different purposes. The file name of the catalogs is always the same: catalog.pse10db.Ok, they are in different directories. And have have only one open at the same time. But could it be a problem in a specific constellation? So would it be wise to renamethe file names of the catalogs - like catalog_tim.pse10db ?
PSE 11 catalog but when I try to restore it it says it's empty. I can open the folder/files on my hard drive but the restore function says it is empty.
I have a file "silence.wav" that was apparently in my Elements catalog. It is located in a folder that has been deleted over my years of upgrading Photoshop Elements. My problem is I can't find the file in my organizer/catalog in my Elements 11.0 to delete it from the catalog. Typically, with a picture that has been deleted, I can still see it in my catalog with a little question mark indicating the file connection is lost. I can then either reconnect or delete from catalog. However, since I can't find this silence.wav file in my catalog (searching the catalog doesn't locate it) I can't delete it. As a result it always shows in my list when I reconnect files from time to time. How to get rid of this file so Elements doesn't continue to think it is part of my catalog and missing a link?
I need to restore a catalog. All of the info I have found eventually leads to the statement "Restore a catalog to a previously saved version".
Using the hyperlink in this paragraph is a dead end and yeilds a message "The file can't be found". I desperately need my .tly file restored. I do have Norton Ghost image backups but they don't do much good. I think the problem was generated when I removed PSE ver 11.
Just out of curiosity, why is the "my catalog file" which PSE references on the local drive so much smaller a full backup of the catalog to an external drive?
I am trying to move my catalog from a Windows xp computer to a new Windows 7 computer. In attempting to do so I an trying to make a backup of my catalog. When I attempt to make a full catalog backup I get an error message at the end of the writing of the backup file. The message is: "Error encountered while writing file."
The images are written to the backup file (> 20,000 images) and the Catalog.buc is written as well, but the Backup.tly is missing in the backup folder.I have gone thru my catalog and have found no unconnected files and no file that are in need of repair. Everything seems to be in order with the catalog.
We have 11000+ plus photos all carefully cataloged in Photoshop Album 1.0 on my old Windows XP PC. Our new PC is Windows 7 Home Premium with Photoshop Elements 9. How do I import our existing catalog and continue sorting our new photos into our old catalog?
My latest battle with PSE11 is trying to access my catalog in PSE11 via the Catalog Manager but it doesn't show up in the list.
The catalog is named My Catalog 2 is located at C:ProgramDataAdobeElements OrganizerCatalogsMy Catalog 2. It is the only catalog I use and is the one that opens up when I launch Organizer. But, for the life of me, I can't get it to show up in the Catalog Manager. The only catalog that shows up is the original catalog which is at a different location and was created when I installed PSE11 on my new computer (Thinkpad W530, Windows 8). I've tried the Custom Location option and browsing to the location, but still no dice. This catalog has thousands of pictures and was converted from my previous PSE6 catalog. How do I get the Catalog Manager to find my current active catalog?
I have a new computer and want to move the databse catalog over. I backed up in PSE 9 to an external hard drive. I connected to HD to the new computer and tried a resotre catalog. I chose "New Location" since I was going from XP to Windows 7 and was unsure if there would be a conflict with file locations. I also chose "Restore Original Floder Strucure". Very quickly I recieve an error message "Could not restor file .xml". I have run Restore Catalog several times and each time a DIFFERENT FILE receives the error message. I then disabled Norton Anti Virus Auto-Protect. I then disabled several programs running in the background. Same problem. I then copied the Backup Catalog to the new computer and tried to Restore it from there. Same Problem. I have now run a Repair Catalog on the original file. PSE states there is no error. I want to purchas PSE 11, but wanted to install/restore the database with the same version 9 first.
I've got a catalog that work fine in LR4.4, but when I try to upgrade them to LR5 I get the error, "Lightroom couldn't update the format of its catalog file because the file appears to be damaged." The catalogs aren't damaged as they work perfectly in LR4.4. I urgently need to update them to a new mac with LR5.
I recently bought a new computer and with I ordered photoshop cs2. This would be an upgrade from elements for me. My question is can you move the catalog from elements with all the tags etc. and put it into photoshop cs2 with adobe bridge. I need to know because I plan to reformat my old computer before photoshop arrives and if I should back it up.
When I try to backup the catalog, it starts to calculate space; at 24% through the process photoshop appears to freeze and no further progress occurs. How can I get past this problem?
I have pse11 and i've lost the catalog with all my photos. I was in "manage" catalogs and somehow set up a new catalog. It contains no picshow do I restore?
It stalls during the "Calculating Total Media Size" operation. All else seems OK. I am able to "Save Metadata to Files" and "Prepare Files". I'm running Windows 7 64bit w/ latest updates.
How do you transfer a PSE 3 catalogue form an XP computer to PSE 8 or 11 on a new 7-64bit computer. I have not installed PSE 8 or 11 on the new computer yet. I need to have the PSE 3 catalogue transfered complete with groups and collections to the new computer. Should I install PSE 3 on the new computer then transfer or should I install PSE 8 or 11. I'm told that you can't transfer PSE 3 to PSE 11, but will PSE 8 work?
This has been an intermittent problem. I can't open Elements 5.0. It hangs up when trying to load an old catalog. Is there a way to work around the issue. I only use PSE 5.0 for slide shows, all other work is done in the full version of Photoshop.
I've used PSE 6 before, but it doesn't work anymore in Win8, so I'm thinking of updating to PSE12.
To be honest, I don't know where is my old catalog located, but I think it is in the same folder as photos. At least I see "my catalog.psa" files in there. But when I' try to restore them to trial version of PSE12, it only accepts *.tly files. My files are .psa.
How I can restore my catalogs? Because if I can't, there's no point to buy Adobe product at all, because I have to create everything (thousands of photos) from scratch. So I can do that with Adobe product or with any other software, even with free ones.
I was working with a group of 12 photos in my cataalog, and it went away. I tried to revive, no luck. So I tried to import the items again -- the screen would not allow it because they were already in the catalog. How can I recover???
I have PSE 9 all organize now I upgraded to PSE 11 and I am having trouble transfering my catalog.I've tried to import it from my external drive but it's not working.
Comp. crashed.I've loaded all my photos and PSE 7 onto the new HD but find the catalog on the old HD. I can bring up PSE from the old drive with all the pics and tags showing, but can not find the catalog to move it to the new computer's HD. I've been trying for days with no luck.
