View 2 RepliesI have just installed PE 12 for the first time and am in difficulty trying to move the catalog.
It seems to have done it but tells me it cannot do it because the catalog is in use by another program. I would like to start again.
I had PSE10 installed. I just installed PSE11.0, and the new catalog is located in:
%allUsersProfile%AdobeElements OrganizerCatalogs
I would like to move the catalog to a private location:
%appData%AdobeElements Organizer
I click the File menu and click Manage Catalogs. I then click my current catalog, click the Move button, and click "Catalogs Accessible by the Current User". However, I then get an error message saying "The Catalog "Shane" could not be moved because it is in use by another program".
How can I find out which other program is using my current catalog?
Is it possible to move Photos from one Catalog to another one?

The catlog for PSE was located on the same drive as a programs and even I have almost empty data drive I cannot install any more programs because there is not enough space on the drive for the programs.
Questions:
1. How I can move Catalog to another drive?
2. How I can configure from the start or re-configure PSE to have Catalog in another location/drive?
I am not able to find a way to have it done? Is there a way for having it done?

The first would be the ability to move and copy items from one catalog to another. This might entail being able to have more than one catalog open at a time. I could then drag and drop or copy an item from one to another. I have several items in a family picture catalog that more appropriately belong in my genealogy catalog. The only way to rectify this now is to delete from the one catalog and then recreate it in the other. The second would be the capability to stream albums directly to my Smart TV. Windows Media Player can currently do this, but I would have to recreate my albums in Windows Media Player, which seems a waste of time if I have already built albums in the Elements catalog. (There apparently is a way to do this currently using iTunes and an Apple TV device, but I would like to be able to do this directly from Elements). The above two enhancements would be really cool!!

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy latest battle with PSE11 is trying to access my catalog in PSE11 via the Catalog Manager but it doesn't show up in the list.
The catalog is named My Catalog 2 is located at C:ProgramDataAdobeElements OrganizerCatalogsMy Catalog 2. It is the only catalog I use and is the one that opens up when I launch Organizer. But, for the life of me, I can't get it to show up in the Catalog Manager. The only catalog that shows up is the original catalog which is at a different location and was created when I installed PSE11 on my new computer (Thinkpad W530, Windows 8). I've tried the Custom Location option and browsing to the location, but still no dice. This catalog has thousands of pictures and was converted from my previous PSE6 catalog. How do I get the Catalog Manager to find my current active catalog?
I have lr 4 on my pc. I upgraded to lr 5 on my mac. I have the upgrade, but no catalog. I went back into adobe and downloaded lr 4 on my mac. Still no catalog.
Do I have to physically move the catalog from the PC to the mac and then apply the upgrade?
I had LR3 running on my laptop, but due to slow performance, I got a new machine and just installed LR3 and would like to move the Catalog over. I backed up ALL of my pictures to the new machine already (JPG, PSD, RAW, etc...) So I have all of the files on the new machine, but I'm not sure the best method to get only the RAW files back into LR3 like I had them on my old machine.
I can do an import of each folder, but that would take forever!
In Lightroom 4, I would like to copy a catalog from machine 1 to machine 2, and while someone else is working on machine 1, I would like to create a collection on machine 2, and then just move that collection back onto machine 1's original catalog. The user on machine 1 is also making collections, so if I just copied the catalog back from machine 2 when I was done, it would destroy the new collections on machine 1, so I think I want to just move the collection I create on machine 2.

If I add the MBP and run a Mac version of LR on it can I still move the catalog back and forth between the Mac and Windows machines? One option is to use Parallels on the Mac but looking for all the alternatives and potential issues before I bite the bullet.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to move my Lightroom catalog from my old PC to my new iMac.
The catalog contains only images located on a NAS.
I can connect to the NAS from both computer, but when I'm trying to ´import the catalog I get the message "Lightroom could not import this catalog because of an unknown error" I use the same versions of Lightrrom on both computers.
I re-organized my PC. Now, I have all of my photos on my "C" drive. They used to be on another drive. After importing from my old catalog, I lost all of my develop work. My photos are all unchanged from when I imported them as raw files from my camera. Here are the steps that I did:
1. Export the 3.4.1 catalog
2. Format the hard drive and re-install Windows
3. Install a fresh version of Lightroom 4.4
4. Import from my 3.4.1 catalog ("Import from another catalog")
How can I recover my work?
I just added to the catalog a series of folders containing pictures.
What I was hoping is that Adobe LR was going to copy all those pictures and put them into "my pictures- > year -> date" so that I will have all my pictures organized by date. [ t)
However, adobe LR have just added all those pictures using their original location (i.e. the folders where i had them), and therefore the automatic organization by dates that i was expecting didn't happen.
I would like to move all the pictures to the "date system".

View 4 Replies View RelatedI would like to move elements of that painting onto a separate layer. What is the best way to do this? An example of this would be a painting with the moon in a night sky. I might want to move that moon object into a separate layer.
My reason for wanting to do this is I want to change the background of the painting without worrying about doing fine details around the objects I am moving. A second benefit of moving the objects to a layer is that I can then easily move the location of those elements in the painting around, trying to reposition them.
can I get all of the elements I am moving onto a SINGLE layer AND still have the ability to move those elements around separately? If I want to move 10 elements in a painting to a separate layer, it is REALLY inconvenient to have to put those into 10 separate layers and constantly maintain naming of these different layers.
I have quit the program and restarted it. I have restarted the Mac and the problem is still there. None of my other program windows are stuck, just Elements.
It is too far to the left and it won't move over.
