Photoshop Elements :: Cannot Open CR2 Files In 8 Or Bridge
Jul 13, 2013
I shoot in RAW, and have always edited my pictures in Camera RAW via Elements 8. I recently upgraded my old Dell to a new Mac, and now I'm having trouble. I cannot seem to open the RAW files in Elements, this is what I get when I try to open a file with Camera Raw (I know it says Photoshop Raw, but I do have Camera Raw selected):
When I try to open a RAW file in Adobe Bridge, it's not even an option, it's grayed out. BUT, it will let me open jpegs in Camera Raw in Adobe Bridge! So confusing. So far I have tried updating the Camera Raw plug in. I followed the directions exactly, but no dice. When I look at the "about plug in" section on PSE, it shows that it is the updated version, 6.2.0.29. But when I look at a jpeg in Camera Raw through Adobe Bridge, it says Camera Raw version 5.0.
After an external backup drive had its partition deleted we used recovery software to get as many files back as possible. It sorted the files by types but gave them all numbers for names. Using bridge to preview the illustrator files, most show a thumbnail, some just a small illustrator icon. When I try to open the files, some open no problems.
Some of the files are collections of vector art (multiple clipart in one file). In the preview that Bridge shows, the file is complete and all art is there. When I try to open some of these files, I get error messages like:
"Can't open the illustration. The illustration contains an illegal operand. ##.####.## %##.####.####.###.....etc."
And when I click "OK" the file is either missing some of the artwork or it is completely blank. How does the preview show the complete file and when opened it's either missing elements or blank?
Windows cannot find C:/Program Files (x86)/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS3/Photoshop.exe
I installed Photoshop CS6 Upgrade (64bit and 32Bit) to my PC which ran CS5 Extended. When I deleted CS5, Bridge stopped opening files, whether I double clicked on the file or did Open with: I get the same error message.
I am using CS4 Bridge 3.0.0.0.464 When I double click on a JPG file it opens in Photoshop. I prefer to edit my JPG files with Bridge camera RAW. At present, I have to right-click and choose 'open in camera RAW'. Is there a workaround for this?
I changed my preferences to remove the check-box "prefer Adobe camera RAW for Jpeg and TIFF files" , restarted Bridge and tried to open a JPEG from bridge directly into photoshop. But double clicking on the image in bridge opened "paint".
So I change the Bridge preferences back to Prefer ACR for JPEG again, restart Bridge, and then bridge tells me that it cannot find Photoshop CS2. CS2 is not even loaded on this machine anymore.
So then I go to the file type associations preferences and "browse" to the CS3 version of photoshop, restart bridge, and double click on a JPEG and it again says that CS2 cannot be found. I change the association again using the "browse" to CS3 and then it opens the image up in "Paint" again.
Why won't Bridge open JPEG's in ACR anymore?
Why won't bridge open JPEG's in Photoshop CS3 anymore?
Whenever I try to open the Brushes panel, the Bridge window pops up. I know that Bridge is a media manager, so I'm not sure why is it opening. I really need to edit the brushes and I can't find a way to do it. Is there a way to disable bridge or another way to open the brushes panel that won't open bridge?
I can not open CR2 file in CS4 or Bridge. The CR2 images show in the preview window when I click the "open" button under "file". When I select the image to open I get "Unable to complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." I have uninstalled and re-installed the software, installed all the updates and get the same results.
I am not able to see or open Raw files from my Canon 40D in either Photoshop CS3 or Bridge CS3. At first I was able to open RAWS in Photoshop and then I followed directions on the internet at how to manually replace a Camera Raw Plugin so I could open it in Bridge and now neither of the apps work with RAW. In photoshop It says that the file is not supported.
I looked up what plug in I needed and it said 4.2 for a Canon 40 D. I also followed the instructions in the read me file that was with the plugin download. No results from it. I even tried to switch it back to the old plug in to see if I could atleast get back the capiblility of opening it in Photoshop even though bridge was not working...still can't open it in either. What am I missing?
I saved Raw files to jpeg via bridge but now some of the jpegs won't open in CS5, they only open in bridge? How do I get them to open up in photoshop instead?
I installed Photoshop CS6 - 64 bit, but Bridge keeps opening up photos in my CS5 that is still on my computer. How do I change this so that it will open the photos in Photoshop CS6?
Well, I use normally Bridge CS4 (that was included in Elements 8) to organize my pics and to edit or open in camera raw of Elements 11. I normaly shot in raw format with my Nikon d90. Now I shoted some pics with the new Nikon D7100 and I can't use Bridge CS4. I tried to update but Bridge doesn't work. So now I'm obliged to use Elements 11 organizer. Any possibility to update Bridge CS4?
Is there a reason Photoshop would start refusing to open any type of files from Bridge and Window Explorer? If I double click a .psd file, nothing happens. If I drag the file over to Photoshop, it gives me the 'no' symbol, circle with a line through it. The only way to get files to open is to do it from photoshop.
It's done this a few times before, usually if I shut Photoshop down and restarted it would work, not helping this time though.
Using PS CS6 on Mac running Mt. Lion. When I am in Bridge and I choose OPEN, then the picture is opened in the PS application that shows in the dock or in PS that may already be opened. If, however, I choose OPEN WITH and choose either Adobe Photoshop CS6 (default) or Adobe Photoshop CS6, a second Photoshop application appears in the dock and then opens.
I have recently bought a new Nikon D7100 camera . When I try to open some NEF raw files, Photoshop Elements 11 complains my camera is not on the Camerra Raw list. I have tried for hours and hours to see how to fix this ... I have done the usual look at the plug-ins etc - the plug-in states I haev version 7.4 - which according to the blurb means D7100 files should be Ok ... beginning to get a bit pee'd off now with Adobe......
I've been using Photoshop Elements 11 for several months with my laptop running Windows 8. All of a sudden today I can't open jpegs. I click "open," navigate to the picture I want to open and nothing happens. I tried holding down, Ctrl, Alt, Shift when starting the editor to reset preferences and that did nothing. I even tried going to Preferences and clicking Reset Preferences on next launch and that also did nothing.
