Photoshop Elements :: 12 / Can't Get Files From Picasa
Mar 4, 2014
That's how I thought it would work but unable to connect to Picassa icon on my desktop for files - nothing shows! Can connect to everything else on desktop! Control Panel /programs etc. does not work either! If I email image, then click on little icon in attach and move it to desktop, only then I can move pic to PSE 12 Organiser. Something went wrong in download perhaps? Need to download again?
I still use Picasa and LR3 (new to LR3, havent made the full switch as I'm still trying to get a grip on the LR3 learning curve)
What I did was change the folder names in Picasa (and found out I cannot undo folder name changes). I can locate the files in LR3 by keyword, but dont know how to reassosiate the files to their new folder.
Whats the the best way for LR3 to find these files again? I dont want to have to delete and reload the images, but will if its easier
I just came back from a long trip out west and almost all (a very few do open) .nef images in Lightroom 5 64bit give me the "unsupported or damaged" message.
I imported the files using Picasa and can view them just fine on there and can see the EXIF data.A lot of searching online led me to try converting the files to .DNG using the DNG converter 8.1 but I get the same "unsupported or damaged" message.
I have recently purchased Lightroom 4. I have edited my photos and saved them as JPEG. I exported them to my computer and wanted to select some for my Picasa web album. I have never resized previously and uploaded full size as I thought they are my back up if I lost everything here.
Anyway when I tried to upload to Picasa it said the image was too large. Some were around 3-4MB which i thought was ok?
I've just inherited a 500GB HDD from my Dad and I'd love to be able to work all his photos through LR, although there's no way I'm sitting there and importing each and every directory!
As Google Picasa can be told to monitor a directory (eg My Pictures) and each time a new directory or directories are added, on startup it scans for and locates these new dirs and imports the pictures.
Can LR3 be set up to do this please as it would save me hours if I could just leave it overnight to import all of his pics straight into LR.
I am using Photoshop Elements 10 Version 10 (20110831.m.17215) and everytime I plug in a memory card to upload images it wants to upload every image on the card, even though it has previously uploaded images from that card, even though I have the "Copy New Files Only (Ignore Already Imported Files)" box ticked in the preferences Camera or Card Reader section. This gets very frustrating and time consuming when I have to go through the images every single time to uncheck the images that have already been uploaded.
PSE 12 has a new feature under Preferences/Camera or Card Reader called "Alutomatically Stack RAW and JPEG." Checking this will stack a RAW & JPEG file combination, i.e., when shooting with the camera's RAW + JPEG setting checked. In my case PSE 12 appears to stack my Panasonic RAW files and each JPEG thumbnail shows the right facing arrow to expand the stack. When I click the arrow the arrow disappears but the stack does not expand to reveal the RAW file. The RAW file still exists on the hard drive, but I can't find any way to reveal it in PSE (I've not tried to re-import the RAW files because there are a lot of files in a lot of folders.) This is rather critical and needs to be fixed.
When importing pictures from the hard drive to Elements 11, how can you keep the file structure intact? Specifically, if the original file has both pictures and sub folders, how can you import the original file exactly as it exists on the hard drive. So far I can move the pictures just fine, but I lose the file / sub file identity.
I have recently bought a new Nikon D7100 camera . When I try to open some NEF raw files, Photoshop Elements 11 complains my camera is not on the Camerra Raw list. I have tried for hours and hours to see how to fix this ... I have done the usual look at the plug-ins etc - the plug-in states I haev version 7.4 - which according to the blurb means D7100 files should be Ok ... beginning to get a bit pee'd off now with Adobe......
I've been using Photoshop Elements 11 for several months with my laptop running Windows 8. All of a sudden today I can't open jpegs. I click "open," navigate to the picture I want to open and nothing happens. I tried holding down, Ctrl, Alt, Shift when starting the editor to reset preferences and that did nothing. I even tried going to Preferences and clicking Reset Preferences on next launch and that also did nothing.
Can I edit .GIF files in Photoshop Elements 12?I can drag the gif file into the program, but it does not show up animated.I've test edited some gifs, but the only file that changes is the first layer of the GIF.
Trying to import Nikon NEF-files into Organizer is not possible. I get an error message "Not a valid filename" or "xxx.NEF wil not be imported as it is not a valid file format". I did update Organizer, but that did not solve the problem.
After you edit an image in any version of PSE and save it for the web a box pops up that wants to know if you want to save it before closing (already saved once). I often have 65 files open and edited and don't want to agree to not saving for every one. How to close them all at once short of turning off the computer?
I"ll tried directly importing files as NEF and I've converting them to DNG usuing Adobe converter and still the error message says doesn't recognize files.
