Photoshop :: Could Not Use Move Tool Because Target Channel Is Hidden
Mar 17, 2013
I tried removing the quick mask in the channel side bar and also uncheck "edit in quick mask mode" but I still cannot stop the pop up saying "Could not use move tool because the target channel is hidden". I cannot draw any objects or move them. What should I do?
Hidden Channels. I've got starting working on personal project. During working I have not done nothing with channels layer. In certain moment I cannot move with elements, or changing style options.
Error message came in: "could not use move tool because the target channel is hidden".
I'm using the Photoshop CC in Windows8 64x as trial and find a curious bug with the Move Tool:Usually I select multiple layers creating a selection with the Move Tool on them, but in this new CC version the tool is selecting hidden layers too. More details: the hidden layer are inside a folder. The folder is hidden, but the inside layers are not.
This type of selection has always worked perfectly in previously versions, and of course, I leave the option "Auto Select> Layer" enabled.
For example: when you use a brush set to 40% opacity on a new layer or when you apply a mask to a layer you get semi transparent pixels. However PS doesn't show a channel that represents that transparency but I know it has to do this somehow internally. That layer isn't just RGB: it's RGB plus something that stores the transparency. Is there any way to make this transparency channel visible/editable?
I am using the trial version of CS5 (probably going to upgrade at the end of the trial), and I've only found one thing about it that I don't like more than CS3. This is VERY VERY annoying, and I'm not sure if it's a glitch, or just a preference that needs to be reset:
When using the move tool, I will move something and it will just snap back to where it originally was. When it snaps back, it might move a few pixels over in the direction I was dragging, but it is definitely not moving to where I want it to go. The only way to get things to move the way I want to is by Free Transform...but it's annoying, when you're trying to design a layout, to have to free transform every element you want to move, first.
I'm guessing that this is a glitch because sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't...it's pretty random. I've tried turning Snap on and off, and nothing changes.
I have to use a german version of Illustrator and will be translating names of menu items.
I'm working with an illustrator file with several drawing areas. I often need to insert a new drawing area. I then reposition the new area and the content of the old ones by the menu item "arange drawing areas" ("Zeichenflächen neu anordnen") and check the check box "move content with drawing area" (Bildmaterial mit Zeichfläche verschieben"). However, this does not move elements which have been hidden or disabled using the according icons in the layers dialog. How can I achieve this? Actually I would be happy if invisible content would be moved together with its drawing area, since it is somewhat logic that disabled contents are not moved.
When using the LR5 spot removal tool I can perform cloning or healing and LR automatically selects the target used to clone from, but I cannot see where this area is on the image. A pin should appear with a line connecting the area to be removed and the target area used to clone from. I see no pin. Is this controled by a setting?
Is it possible to use the "Rearrange Artboards" option in the Artboards flyout menu and also move not only the artboard itself but also the hidden artwork (layers, objects, etc.) on that artboard?
I have tried check-marking the "Move Artwork with Artboard" option, but that still does not move the hidden artwork. The default behavior seems to be that only the active or visible artwork is moved along with the artboard, but the hiddden artwork is left behind somewhere on the workspace where the artboard used to be before it was moved.
I find this a little cumbersome, since I often hide artwork that I'm testing and having to make them all visible again to just move them with the artboard would break the dinstinction between all the many very similar layers, objects, etc. that I might be working with at a given time.
For some reason now, when I select a tool with hidden tools under them, they display the hidden tools in a pop up next to the selected tool. This is very frustrating and causes me to lose a lot of valuable time with extra clicking. Does any one know how to reset this particular feature?
anyway to tell photoshop CS to quit showing me all of the hidden tools every time I choose a tool. I'm not an idiot, Photoshop...when I want the paint brush, I don't want to choose between the paint brush and the pencil! What kind of a 'feature' is that?
I've tried using the union tool in AutoCAD 2013 as well as the Boolean join function in Inventor Fusion 2013. In AutoCAD it doesn't let me select more than one object (says that the array is the only object and that individual unit blocks are duplicates). In Inventor Fusion I can't seem to get the hand of selecting the target & tool bodies.
I can no longer find my Marquee Tool. In place of it there is now a button or icon labeled as "Go to Adobe Online" I don't recall seeing this button ever before. Someone else was using my computer last week, so I'm guessing that they somehow caused this change. Does anyone know how to bring back the Marquee Tool? I find it far more accurate for cropping than the "Cropping Tool"
In ps7 editor I can have 2 pictures cascaded and using the marquee tool and the move tool insert a section of one picture into the other. I cannot do this in ps11, what am I doing wrong?
I've been using the pen tool for almost a month now… I'm actually getting pretty good with it now, mainly using it to make my selections more precise… I haven't even bothered to try to draw with it, yet…
Anyway, I was already kind of sleepy when I started to outline the chopper with the pen tool… I got pretty tired & saved what I have done into a PSD. In Illustrator I know it would probably save my anchor points…
When I click on my Path palette, I can see some of my outline… But, the rest of it is filled in with white as a shape…With all of that said, in Photoshop… Is there anyway I can pick up where I left off tracing the nice Harley-Davidson?
Or… Do I have to start all over?
I already tried to use the Direct Path tool & Direct Selection Tool… My anchor points remain hidden.
I hit the zoom tool to zoom in on my document. Say I want to zoom in 5 times. After zooming in once (clicking on the document once), the magnifying glass switches to the move tool cursor If I click again, slowly, it goes back to zooming.
When I have a none vector tool active for example the brush tool and I press and hold the Ctrl key down I see the cursor change from the current tool to the move tool cursor. If I presses and hold the Alt key I see the cursor change from the current tool to the eyedropper tool. If I press and hold both the Ctrl+Alt keys a see a cursor icon change to an icon that has two up pointing Arrow heads one Black the other White. What tool is that cursor for? It seems to copy and move the current layer and move its position over the canvas.
Usually I can click a took and thats the end of it...if I want to show hidden I have to click the little arrow or something of that nature. Now when I click a tool it automatically opens up the hidden tools menu, which makes it very annoying to select tools because I've then got to click it in the hidden menu to select it.
Also performing things such as double clicking hand tool to show an image full screen don't work becuase as soon as I click the hand tool once it opens up the hidden tools menu and won't allow me to double click it. I've tried resetting to defaults and even checked my wacom/mouse settings...cant figure out what the issue is.
I started learning Photoshop CS4 about a month ago. One of the first things I learned was to add text. Simple, fun. I am now trying to learn about layer masks. One of the exercises in one of my books is to open an image and then add text to it. (The idea is to then add a mask and 'hide' portions of the text behind portions of the image.) A really strange thing is happening when I try to add text. I highlight the image in the layers column. (Prior to adding any mask layers.) I then click the text tool. But when I click on the image (in the area where I want the text), the text tool 'becomes' a move tool. A text layer pops up and the words I'm trying to type on the image come out in the title area for the layer (in the layers column). I've tried everything I can think of to 'get' the text on the image but can't solve it.
My 'Tool Options' Box has always been on the left of the screen - at the bottom of the 'Tool box'. I clicked on something yesterday while using the Tool Options Box and somehow moved it. There is now a message there that says 'You can drop dockable dialogs here'. I've tried various things but can't get the Tool Options box back. It's lurking underneath the main Tool Box. I can drag it out and use it, but afterwards it hides again. I know this has to be a dead simple problem but I just can't seem to correct it.
I am a screen printer and I print my separations from Photoshop. I routinely work with multi channel files or RGB files with additional spot color channels. I have created actions to place my registration marks, re-size images, etc to get ready to print but I manually have to create the text labels for each screen if they are missing from the original artwork.
The files I work with have channels named as "Base White, Red, Green, 284 Blue" etc indicating the ink color. What i would like to be able to do is click an action that would copy the text from the channel name and insert it into a separate or each/all channels near the top of the file so that when I print each positive it has a corresponding label for ink color.
I am not sure if this is even possible, and I am limited on my knowledge when it comes to actions and have pretty much got lucky in the past getting them to do what I want without unnecessary steps.
On my registration target action it creates a new channel with each individual reg mark then combines them into one separate channel in which I just copy the contents and select all the ink channels and fill with black to make them appear, i'm happy with the steps it takes as it isn't too much trouble and if this could do the same with labels I would be happy with that.
It seems that I've somehow "hidden" all of the extra options for any given tool in the Toolbox in GIMP (in 2.6, but I'm having the same issue in 2.8). I'm quite baffled as to what I did to cause this issue. URL....
In 2008, never had this issue.Just dumb, circles, and lines in a view port, that have hidden or center linetyoes assigned to them. When we go to plot using legacy hidden (this new for 2012?) the plot comes out with continuous lines. These are not solids. Just ordinary line entities. Now, when I change the shadeplot to "hidden" the linetype is shown correctly, but now my entities are coloured, when I just want my drawing to be black and white (going to PDF), even though all of the colours in the pen style are set to "Black".
Has this changed? Is there a new variable introduced?
Just made sure updates for the video card and all the hardware were current and still getting this problem where when I go to adjust a channel of video a random frame from the below channel will insert itself into the clip that I just moved as if it was married into the source footage.
Adobe Premiere Pro Running an nVidia 660 with 331 drivers installed Win7 64 bit ultimate
How can I get the channel subassembly to attach to the assembly insertion point at the channel flowline marker? I need the flowline to follow my profile elevations.
I'm drawing objects (walls, platforms, etc.) in 3d made up primarily of extruded polygons. I want to be able to plot these objects in a way that hides all of the lines which are obscured by other objects. Currently I have my viewports set up with a 2D Wireframe visual style and a Hidden shade plot. This isn't working for me. I'm still getting all of the lines in the drawing visible no matter what.
Here's the strange thing: It seems to work perfectly fine in plan view, but not in front view. Also, it's worked fine in the past. It seems that the problem has gotten progressively worse over the past year or so.
I try to use photoshop CC and it crashed EVERY single time I click the move tool, no matter what document I have open. I haven't been able to do much else with it to see if it crashes in other places or not. It crashes on both the 64 bit and 32 bit version.
I have windows 7, 64 bit. I have an AMDHD 7700 graphics card and I also use the integrated Intel 2500 graphics for more monitors.
I have 16gb of ram. I have just updated both of my video card drivers to try and correct the problem, but it has not fixed the problem.
I also get the "Photoshop has detected an error in your display driver" when I go into the performance tab in preferences.
