Photoshop :: How To Get Access To Hidden Channel That Stores Transparency
Jul 2, 2012
For example: when you use a brush set to 40% opacity on a new layer or when you apply a mask to a layer you get semi transparent pixels. However PS doesn't show a channel that represents that transparency but I know it has to do this somehow internally. That layer isn't just RGB: it's RGB plus something that stores the transparency. Is there any way to make this transparency channel visible/editable?
I tried removing the quick mask in the channel side bar and also uncheck "edit in quick mask mode" but I still cannot stop the pop up saying "Could not use move tool because the target channel is hidden". I cannot draw any objects or move them. What should I do?
Hidden Channels. I've got starting working on personal project. During working I have not done nothing with channels layer. In certain moment I cannot move with elements, or changing style options.
Error message came in: "could not use move tool because the target channel is hidden".
I'm developing a tile based game, I have basic ground tiles, and above these tiles can be objects. My game engine supports objects with an alpha channel, where the alpha channel is used for transparency:
alphachannel 0 = completely invisible pixel alphachannel 255 = opaque pixel alphachannel between 0 and 255 means the object and the background tile below that are blended, like semi-transparency.
This is useful to give the objects soft edges, and for semi-transparant fire, ghosts, and other nice looking effects. Code:
how to edit the transparency channel in Photoshop but I can't find anything.
In photoshop the transparency channel is completely hidden from the user. Why is the transparency channel hidden in the first place? Even in GIMP, it is shown as Alpha 1 and can be edited. Is there any way to unhide this channel so it can be edited?
If there is no way to edit it directly then it is pretty simple to recreate the transparency channel info in a layer or channel. Simply control clicking on the layer selects the transparency info. You can the fill the selection with white over a black. It can then be edited. But is there any way to upload the edited info directly into the hidden transparency channel?
I'm trying to do something that I could previously do with other image software. I want to 'paint' the transparency of a layer using the alpha channel. So when I paint black on the alpha channel it makes that part of the layer completely transparent, and white makes it completely opaque (and grey shades are in between). From what I understood of the help, this should be possible by just creating an alpha channel and painting in it. But when I try and then click back to display the RGB channel to look at the changes I've made, nothing actually changes. Whatever I seem to do to the alpha channel it doesn't actually affect the layer's transpancy at all.
I have removed the background from a photo using selection deleting to transparency via alpha channel. My dog was left. I then exported to png. When I try to upload the dog to use in a label, (Open Office), the back ground turns to white.
I already have an image file in png format..which I want to use as an application launcher icon for my android application.
The android specifies image with following properties for the launcher icon(Will need 4 different image to support different screen size in mobile devices)
Launcher icons should be 32-bit PNGs with an alpha channel for transparency. The finished launcher icon dimensions corresponding to a given generalized
Screen density are shown in the table below. 1. 36 * 36 px 2. 48 * 48 px 3. 72 * 72 px 4. 96 * 96 px
I would like to create 4 png files(with specifications mentioned above) from the already existing image file. How do I do that in GIMP.
I am completely novice to image editing(Never touched any image editing software before) and not sure how to achieve this in GIMP.
My Learning Center uses a program to throw away all changes made to the drive where PSE 10 is installed (system drive) every night. Is there a way to change the drive on which the preferences are stored so they don't get thrown away every night?
I made some presets to effects, toolbar customization (including creating my own), create picture frame and so on. I would like to backup these information considering the case of reinstall PSP and recovery my settings.
a) which are the folders that stores presets, customization and my settings?
b) If I install PSP in other computer, could I just replace these folders in order to recovery my presets, customizations and settings?
c) Recently I reset (shift + F8) the PSP to its factory setting and I lost all these stuffs ! Were the customizations deleted or there is any way to recovery them?
I created a work in PSP using raster + vector. The image is configured to A3 paper dimensions.
I want to send it to be printed in an external store. With CorelDraw, it is just sending the CDR file (with vector in curves) and the file by itself shows A3 paper dimensions when opened. So, the guy who will print just make the job, without any question!
It seems to me that files like PNG or JPG can’t be handled as CDR file by the person who will receive the file. So, what should be the better PaintShop file format to send to external store to be printed in the way I mentioned?
I am a screen printer and I print my separations from Photoshop. I routinely work with multi channel files or RGB files with additional spot color channels. I have created actions to place my registration marks, re-size images, etc to get ready to print but I manually have to create the text labels for each screen if they are missing from the original artwork.
The files I work with have channels named as "Base White, Red, Green, 284 Blue" etc indicating the ink color. What i would like to be able to do is click an action that would copy the text from the channel name and insert it into a separate or each/all channels near the top of the file so that when I print each positive it has a corresponding label for ink color.
I am not sure if this is even possible, and I am limited on my knowledge when it comes to actions and have pretty much got lucky in the past getting them to do what I want without unnecessary steps.
On my registration target action it creates a new channel with each individual reg mark then combines them into one separate channel in which I just copy the contents and select all the ink channels and fill with black to make them appear, i'm happy with the steps it takes as it isn't too much trouble and if this could do the same with labels I would be happy with that.
In 2008, never had this issue.Just dumb, circles, and lines in a view port, that have hidden or center linetyoes assigned to them. When we go to plot using legacy hidden (this new for 2012?) the plot comes out with continuous lines. These are not solids. Just ordinary line entities. Now, when I change the shadeplot to "hidden" the linetype is shown correctly, but now my entities are coloured, when I just want my drawing to be black and white (going to PDF), even though all of the colours in the pen style are set to "Black".
Has this changed? Is there a new variable introduced?
Just made sure updates for the video card and all the hardware were current and still getting this problem where when I go to adjust a channel of video a random frame from the below channel will insert itself into the clip that I just moved as if it was married into the source footage.

How can I get the channel subassembly to attach to the assembly insertion point at the channel flowline marker? I need the flowline to follow my profile elevations.
I'm drawing objects (walls, platforms, etc.) in 3d made up primarily of extruded polygons. I want to be able to plot these objects in a way that hides all of the lines which are obscured by other objects. Currently I have my viewports set up with a 2D Wireframe visual style and a Hidden shade plot. This isn't working for me. I'm still getting all of the lines in the drawing visible no matter what.
Here's the strange thing: It seems to work perfectly fine in plan view, but not in front view. Also, it's worked fine in the past. It seems that the problem has gotten progressively worse over the past year or so.
I would like the two pictures to blend in the middle from left to right. The picture on the left will be sharpe on the left side but fade/transparent by the time it reaches the middle. The picture on the right will be sharpe on the right side but fade/transparent in the middle.
I would think I need a gradient transparency (you always have to use a color)
I see pictures like this all the time, but can not seem to find the correct feature or combinations of features.
I mean any shape outline when using things like brush, blur, erase. If the cursor size is very small, say less that 60 pixels, the whole shape is visible. Let's just say it's a circle, if it get's any bigger it starts to disappear as the size goes up. All that will be left is a small line showing the very top left of the circle.
This is a nuisance, especially for custom brushes where I can't see where the brush will be placed.
I've seen it before but do not have an image at the moment to link to so I will try to explain it best as possible. What I want to do is take an image, then overlay another image on it that should only be really visable if you highlight the image (with both layers in it) and maybe tilt your monitor.
What is the more usual image mode? I think my files have been 8 bits per channel for many years. I was having a lot of trouble with Photoshop slowing down dramatically on several large files I created, and I noticed I had made them in 16 bit mode. Would this require more RAM?
we are making a soft in Visual C++ .NET,and my job like a desinger is to create some pictures which contain Alpha Channel.Thise pictures will be links, but when gues take thise pictures to make its links in Visual C++ .NET the Alpha Cannel what I made disappeared.
I clicked on the load select for part of image and I cut it and put it in the channel and plus pasted in the layer palette. I see the image in the layer pallette now and see the it in the channel as well. Is it correct?
I've another damaged picture and looked at the channel saw the red is better so clicked all from selection and copied it and scrolled down and pasted into in the green channel. Is it correct?
