When I create a new layer, Photoshop automatically assigns a number to that layer (i.e. Layer 51). Is there a way I can reset this numbering system? When I start a new folder with a new set of layers, I want it to begin on #1 again. How do I do this?
Is there a way to auto number files with the file number (less .jpeg) and save without having to let my computer grind to a halt, as it does using Automate, contact sheet. The objective is to create a preview set for distribution to clients with the file number annotated at bottom centre. Also, is there any way of creating the text/font/colour/stroke of my choice?
Is there a method of automatically adding page numbers that will auto update as pages are moved, added, or deleted.
I often produce documents with a considerable number of pages which I am then asked to change after the first draft. I currently add page numbers manually in order to control the style etc, but there must be a better way.
I use a template for all my drawings that includes a page number in the lower right hand corner (usually says "Page 1 of 4" for example). I usually edit this number manually, which is fine for documents with a small amount of pages, but if I'm working on a large document (50+ pages) and need to re-order some pages it means editing the page number on every page manually.
Is there some way of having the number in a piece of artistic text dynamically update depending on what page number it's on?
Lets say for e.g. that I have 12 parts within an assembly, once auto balloon has done it’s job you notice that No. 9 balloon is blank and No. 10 balloon only shows 1 and not 10.
FASTER way to Auto-Numbering columns and rows in CorelDrawX6, instead of typing them manually one by one?
For example, as on the picture i have attached, I would like to write Sequences of increasing Numbers from 301 to 328 in a row, only on one page. I Don't want to Number Pages. I am not refering to "Print Merge".
Is there any Automated method to do that, or any Free Macros, like those two commercials here?JH Gimmie Numbers 2.0andPrint Merge Application
I'm making a research report on landscape design. The final document would have perhaps pages like 80-90 or so. Earlier I used to make reports and multipage documents on MS Word. While making the contents page, I would have to look at each and every chapter's name, subheading and then add the page number manually. Is there any automatic system in InDesign?
For example if the information about
"Sustainable water management "
is given on page number 63. Then Indesign automatically assigns the page 63 in front of the heading "Sustainable water management " in the contents page?
I urgently need a program that can auto number panels for a large drawing I have. I have a lisp program for auto numbering but we need each insertion of text to start with a P i.e. P1, P2, P3 etc etc.
Using Revit 2014, I link in a dwg file. I open a view and using V/G overides for Imported Categories, I turn off the Acad layers I don't want to see. Then the next time my dwg file is updated, the V/G will remain the same and I won't have to reset the layer views. Now I duplicate this view for additional views I need in my project. But I need to apply a different View Template to each view. This destroys the original V/G settings that I had set up for the dwg file.Is there a way to set up my linked file so that it retains the layer on/off settings through each update and lock it. Then I can apply different View Templates to introduce other characteristics without altering the desired layer settings.
I'm trying to batch save a series of PNG animation files using the File => Scripts => Export Layers to Files action in Photoshop CS5. Each layer has a transparency and a shadow that have been converted from layer effects and "baked" into the image. I tried the batch save but it turned all of the transparencies solid with white backgrounds. Also the image size was not cropped to the dimensions of the object on each layer.
Lastly, is there a way to edit the numbering for each file? When the images were exported it created a lengthy set of numbers after each file name when all I need is a 00 padding.
I am having layer control issues when dealing with Point Styles. I have a Description Key set up that will put the specified point style on a certain layer. For instance the point style COMH will be placed on the V-UTLY-MH layer upon insertion. The point style that I have created will have the Marker associated to the V-UTLY-MH-SYM layer and the Label associated with the V-UTLY-MH-LABEL layer. I also have the check box at the bottom of the Object Layers Tab in the Drawing Settings Dialog box checked that says "Immediate and independent layer on/off control of display components" checked. With all of this set up, I still cannot independently layer on /off the label of the point style without having to create a Point Group Style and have no label style selected within the Point Group Styles Properties.
While I understand how to do this and can set up multiple Point Group Styles and push them up and down to get the visuals to do what I want, we have to deliver our drawings to clients who are not the most CIVIL 3D savvy of people. Any work around that does not involve duplicating and exploding the cogo points just so that clients can layer on/off or freeze/thaw the point lables in a drawing? I have included an image of the settings with the code used for the COMH point style and description key settings.
I'm working on a rather complex piece of artwork in Illustrator CC with the latest Mac OS, with several objects on each layer.
Whenever I click an object, its layer in the Layers palette auto-expands, pushing all of the main layers off of the edge of the palette. I then have to click the little arrow to collapse the layer so I can see all of the other layers and (quickly?) get to the one I need.
I am using a Magic Trackpad (don't ask) so this task is particularly arduous, as the cursor is often somewhat difficult to maneuver when attempting to target small UI elements. My display height is only 1050 px, so naturally I would rather not make the layer thumbnails any smaller (25 px.)
Is it possible to disable or defeat the auto-expanding behavior? Placed in bold
So when I'm working in Photoshop and I have several layers open and I want to work on a certain layer, I click on the layer that I need in the layer menu and begin work, but this is when my problem occurs. Whenever I have the layer I want selected, and then I accidentally click on another part of the document that doesn't contain pixels from that layer, it automatically switches to that layer and it is very frustrating to work with and I have to be very exact when I try to click and drag a part of the photo without having it automatically switch to the layer behind it.
I have downloaded a 30 day trial of Photoshop CS3 Extended. I use Windows XP. In the demo on the adobe.com site, there appears to be a feature where you can align 2 images such as a group shot, where you want to take a face from one image and put it in the other image. Can you please tell me how this is done?
I'm running Win Vista 32bit with 3gig of RAM. When trying to use the Auto-Blend feature of CS4 I get an error message that says Could not Auto-Blend the layers because there is not enough memory (RAM)." The only way I'm able to get this feature to work is if I reduce my image size to less than 1/4 of my original file size. I started with an image that was 4221 pixels wide, and I had to reduce it down to 1000 pixels before the blending feature wold work.
Does anyone know how much RAM this feature needs to work on a full size image? Is there anyway I can set up Vista to allocate more of my RAM to CS4? When I go under preferences > performance, it tells me that I have 1641mb of RAM available. Is there a way I can set this so more of my RAM is allocated to CS4?
I have version 6.0, and for some reason, something changed the other day where I can no longer simply click on the layer and move it around. I now have to right click and select "layer 17" before being able to move it. I can't seem to find how to edit this setting.
I'm practicing on photoshop cs5 and I'm working on picture and trying to change things in it but when it came to select auto-align layers from the edit menu it's not lighting to select it i, i can see it but can't select it.
Having a rough time trying to blend a face onto another face, been watching tutorials. I have both layers selected now and I go to Edit > Auto-Blend Layers, but the option is faded and I can't choose it! What could be causing this issue?
I use auto-select primarily when designing. I will often clicking and dragging a marquee box to select multiple objects. I immediately noticed that it is now selecting hidden layers as well, where it didn't before.
Is there a setting or way to change this? I am assuming as of now that this is a new change. They will still select even if the layers are locked so locking groups is not a solution for this.
I've been taking photos with a homemade lightbox which includes a white background and I typically have to go into photoshop to make some adjustments to get the background pure white. When I'm snapping a photo of an all white object against an all white background, it looks rather nasty if you use the auto color tool.
So from my understanding auto color uses the lightest white and the darkest black and the reason the white/white scenerio doesn't work it because of a lack of black. So to combat this I've been creating a new layer and adding a little black with the rectangular tool and filling it with black. Now, I'd like to be able to delete this second layer once I've used the auto color feature but can't figure out how.
I used to have CS5 on my computer, after which I used the CS6 trial, and I never had any problems when stacking images using Auto-Blend Layers -> Stack Images. However, I recently purchased a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud and after uninstalling the old PS versions and installing Cloud, Photoshop freezes every time I try to stack images.
My computer has very good specs, runs Windows 7, and both the OS and PS are up to date.
i can't be the only one who thinks it's nuts that when 'auto-select > layers' is selected and i drag to select a bunch of layers, i also select layers that are turned off and/or locked, can i?i just confirmed that this IS not the case with CS6 -- locked or hidden layers are not selected upon dragging to select exposed layers.
is this a bug, or a bit of new functionality that i am failing to grasp? i did notice that in CC, on right-click there is the new option to "isolate layers", but this seems to just isolate & unclutter layers within the layers panel.
I have photoshop cs4 and I cannot find the Auto smart fix, auto levels, and auto contrast nor the adjustment for each that I had with photoshop elements.
I was using these tool on a lot of images, because they often seemed to vastly improve them, making the colors pop on otherwise somewhat dull ones, and getting rid of unwanted color casts..
Later though I noticed that it is often at the cost of burning out hightlights in some areas beyond salvation.I also find shadow /highlight sometimes does this also.
Then I tried to protect some small areas with a mask before proceeding, but it seems that I can't find information on just painting a mask, but only videos with much more complex adjustment such as the Russel Crow or Lynda ones with maintaing hair detail while superimposing images, which is way beyond what I need in these cases.
If I try the wand to select and inverse I get unnatural looking divisions. Is it a matter of feathering to the right extent?
I have just moved from 7.0 to CS3 (and PC to Mac) and am currently trying to get to grips with the new features! Once which I love is the auto-align and auto-blend feature(s). My question is, is there any way to control how these features work? I have seen on some web sites people talk about 'fuzziness' sliders where you can control that if an object (pixels) appear in X% of the photos they should/shouldn't be included in the final image but I cannot find these.
My intention is to use these features to take photos of monuments and have the people who are moving about removed from the final image (I guess it's the auto-align that would do this.) I tried a test and took a number of photos at home but I kept moving one object around (a pen.) The pen appears in all the images but in a different location so it always appears in the final image. When I tried auto-align with a stack that included one image without the pen, the pen was removed from the final image. Given the first scenario (i.e. the object is in all the images but in a different location) is there any way of automatically removing it using auto-align or would this have to be a manual process? In the real world, it would be possible to take a photo of a monument with people in different locations but it would be much harder (or take a long time) to take one where at least one person was not in all the photos (there's always someone loitering.)
Yes, I'm probably the only person on the planet that wants this, but I liked how the Auto Tone auto adjusted the Exposure slider (ONLY!) and left all the other sliders at zero in the Lightroom 4 beta.
Is there a way to write a preset that returns that behavior?
