Lightroom :: Transferring Files To Computer (OSX - Snow Leopard) Via USB Cable
May 3, 2012Nikon D800 + LR4 import problem with dual card system:
I am transferring files to my computer (OSX, snow leopard) via USB cable. I am using dual card system with my camera: CF and SD. I am using the "backup" option which means that the content of both memory cards is identical. NEF + NEF with identical file names.
When the camera is connected to the computer and LR4 "import" is opened, LR4 does not show "D800 1" or "D800 2" -- it shows only "D800". This means that I cannot select a card which I would like to import the files from (like I can do with D700 or D3). And most of all, LR4 reacts inconsistently on "Don't import suspected duplicates". Usually, it wants to import all images on both cards -- this means that all files would be imported twice.
At the moment, in my D800, I have SD and CF with 3 identical NEF files on both cards. "Don't import suspected duplicates" is selected. In the import window I can see that LR4 wants to import 5 files: 0474+0474 (duplicates), 0475, 0476+0476 (duplicates). So, out from 6 images it recognizes that there is a one duplicate about to be imported, but those two others are not duplicates?

Aug 25, 2013Adobe CS3 is still crashing on the iMac (10.6.8 Snow Leopard). For example, it will not process multiple raw (dng) or jpg files from Bridge through Photoshop. I deactivated and reinstalled Adobe CS3 on the iMac. I did save the preferences for Dreamweaver, Bridge, and Photoshop before uninstalling.

I got Adobe CS3 to work on the MacBook (10.6.8 Snow Leopard) after reinstating it again from the external hard drive and on the new MacBookPro (Apple OS 10.8.4 Mountain Lion).

I tried reinstalling PSE v6.0 but nothing changed. I've looked for upgrades to both Snow Leopard and PSE v6.0 but Snow Leopard's didn't improve anything and I can't find upgrade to PSE.

Jun 11, 2013I used to use Photoshop CS on my old PPC eMac with OS 10.4.11 (Tiger), and printed successfully on good quality glossy photo paper using an Epson Stylus Photo R340 printer. I have now upgraded to an Intel Mac mini with OS 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion). I am afraid I cannot afford to buy the latest version of Photoshop, so I have installed Parallels Desktop and, within it, Snow Leopard Server, so that I can run Photoshop CS2.
I have now got the correct driver for my printer and all the printer and paper profiles. Using exactly the same profile and other settings that I used to use with Photoshop CS on my old computer, when I printed a TIFF image, the results were a print with extremely pale, washed-out colours. When I used the 'Preview' feature of the printer software, the colours looked good, but when I printed they were hopeless.
I don't think it is the printer. If I set the Photoshop output to let the printer determine colours, I get quite good results. But when I switch to letting Photoshop determine colours, I get these impossibly pale colours. I have checked through all the preference settings of Photoshop CS2 and cannot find anything that might account for this misbehaviour.

But when it attempts to load it hangs with the error, "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a program error. Photoshop will now exit."

May 1, 2012I initially noticed this problem within Lion and Lightroom 4 when printing to my Epson 4800. The colour shifts to a more pinkish hue in prints done in Lion. I'd originally thought this was unique to Lightroom, but the same thing happens to the same file when printed in Preview, so I'm assuming it has something to do with Lion or the Epson printer. I can confirm it's not a monitor calibration issue, and that my printer driver for the 4800 is the one for Lion, and that everything in Lightroom and the driver is configured identically in both versions of the OS.

Aug 22, 2012Been trying to save files that are processed from Camera raw to tiff in CS 5 . The pop up window shows a different folder from where the just processed file was located. The preferences 'save file options is set(checked) 'Save as to orginal folder' Not sure what to do . After further tries I noted that the ' save as' dialogue indicates the saved folder is 'my documents' . This only occurs with files saved a Tiff or PSD . When a jpeg file is opened and then saved it is saved in the folder it originated from. Is this perhaps a windows 7 setup issue?

Photoshop :: Save As - Extensions Not Automatically Added
Mar 9, 2012The problem I've been noticing for a while now has been especially in OSX, now also on windows 7 is that whenever I have a PSD file open and go SAVE AS as a JPG alot of times I tend to do a batch from a single psd with different version.. ( name01.jpg name02.jpg name03.jpg etc.)
What I came across is that sometimes I tend to forget to select JPEG from the drop down menu (because the window always displays Photoshop File as default).
What happens is that Photoshop File is in the drop down menu and I name my file Name01.jpg it saves it as a Photoshop File with a .jpg extension. which confuses everyone that tries to open that file because they cant and its huge..
I remember on windows XP when this happened photoshop was kind enough to name my file Name01.jpg.psd which made the file stand out and approprietly named.
Aside from the whole .PSD .JPG issue with this not adding the appropriate extension automatically, this also causes problems when I name a file Name01 photoshop leaves it at that and does not add any extention to it so it becomes an orphan file on foreign computers.. It doesn't happen often but when it does I want to punch my computer in the face.
I'm sure I'm not the only one saving JPGs from Photoshop in large numbers that this happened to..

Mar 26, 2013I have loads of dwgs made by a former employee at another site that have our company logo in the tile block. I need to replace the company logo with a new one. If it were not made from a dwt, I could change the .dwg file and just reinsert the block and let it redefine the block, done. But since all of the text in each drawing was input using a template, I cannot do this without losing all of that data. We are not permitted to explode the title block, delete the old logo & add a new one as the drawing format needs to remain as one entity. Is there a way to automatically update these dwgs without re-entering all of the title/revision block text on every drawing?
