Photoshop :: CS4 Opening Photos To "Float All In Windows"
Dec 31, 2008
Ive been using CS3 for ages, and have just gone on to CS4. I finally worked out how to open a new document and "float all in windows" (from the arrange documents box on the tool bar. However, I have to select it from the box for every new photo I open. Is there a way of telling it to open each new photo in "Float all in windows" automatically?
Is there a way to have all my files open as "floating windows" (the way it used to be) every time I start photoshop and/or every time I open a new file? I do not like the new interface and every time I open a new file I have to go to that drop down button and click "float all in windows".
Is it possible for the 'float all windows' option to stay or be permanent. Despite setting this option everytime I open a new image it reverts back to the 'tab' option -
I'm no longer able to select "Float in Windows" or Float All in Windows". These items don't activate; they remain dark. I can see only one image at a time now. How to get it back?
I just downloaded the PSE 12 trial, and see the "all floating" tab in the layout menu, but it is locked and I can only use the default layout. Are some features not avaliable in the trial that will be in the paid version? I'd like to know before purchasing it.
In CS5, you could have mulitple images open in tabs, and there would be no additioanal padding around the canvas area; the image would lock in place to the upper left. Â Now in tabs in CS6, the canvas floats in space. Any way to have tabs and get rid of the space/padding?
This just started happening after I downloaded DWG TruViewer. I am working on LT 2008 using Fusionware on a MacPro. I needed the viewer to convert newer drawings from an architect. Now, when I double click on a drawing in Explorer a separate AutoCad window opens for each drawing I need open. I prefer to just go up to Window>and click on the one I need at that time, especially if I have several to switch between because it is easier to see the file name I want.
SDI is set to 0
Taskbar is set to 0
Relaunched the program
I can't open files using File>Open because the program crashed each time and Autodesk is not issuing anymore fixes for 2008.  (Yes, we should upgrade but there is no money budgeted)
Right-click on any .dwg file and go to Properties>General>Change> and select the AutoCad LT launcher as the preferred program
Since I am in Window 7 instead of XP the File Types tab has been removed from Folder Options  so I can't fix it that way.
So, why did this change? FYI that stupid TruViewer made lots of unnecessay changes to my AutoCad and Explorer programs that I am still trying to sort out like changing the file icon and hiding the file extensions. Are they trying to make it hard to find files or what?
And next, how can I reset the default so that double clicking on a .dwg in Explorer opens in already open AutoCad window?
The instructions in Adobe Photo Elements 11 Classroom In a Book are the classic Windows "Drag and Drop" Method. However, when I try to do it, the cursor/icon I am dragging turns into a gray circle with a gray diagonal when it reaches the Media Browser pane in the Organizer and the folder/photo is not imported into the Organizer when I "drop." Do I need to change setting in Windows (Vista, SP2) or Photoshop Elements 11?
I have Windows 7 , Photoshop was working fine! Next time I tried to open up CS2 ....I clicked on the program and nothing happened.  I tried CS5 and nothing happened.
I just upgraded my PC to Windows 7 and a new Hard Drive. I was able with XP to open my RAW files, but not now. I am using a Nikon D5100, I have Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3.2. I did download the DNG Converter 7.4 and installed it, but still unable to view the files.Â
It doesn't come from the computer (not BIOS beeps), but through the speakers. I've isolated it down to when I open a .psd file, any .psd file, I hear several beeps ranging from 5-13+ beeps. I think it might be a warning of some sort, I've checked my event viewer, but there isn't any log. Â I think it may have something to do with the file size, the smaller the size, the fewer the beeps. The larger the size, the more beeps - i.e. a 7mb .psd file yielded 4 beeps, a 24mb .psd file yielded about 20 beeps. Â I just find it odd that it only happens in this application and only when I open a .psd.
How to get the windows from NOT opening under the options bar? I have to zoom the window each time so I can access the document bar and it is driving me MAD!!!!See how my top gray document bar is hidden? If I hit the zoom out then it pops under the control bars.
I have PhotoShop Elements 6 installed. I have never felt the need to 'upgrade' so still on 6.. I have installed a patch to Windows as recommended by regular Windows 'security scan' in the past few days. I do not want to rewind to before the patch as, presumably, it is required. It was working fine last week opening as required. Now it seems to be about to open when clicked but then does not. Nothing in Task Manager to show it might be running in the background. I've tried running PSE as administrator, Changing compatibility to other Windows.
Whilst working in photoshop, the help center opens itself up multiple times, spawning windows accross my toolbar faster than i can close them. When this has occured in the past (rarely), ive just closed the psd i'm working on at it stops. However today, its gone crazy, opening 50+ blank help center windows and it wont stop!
like the headline says, I'm looking for a way to change the direction to which the windows in photoshop pop up. To make this clearer, I have illustrated what I want to do
Is there an option in the preferences (if so i can not find it)? Or any other way to do this?
When I open a photo from the file menu the photo appears in the document window and I can work on it. Howver, it does not have a header with photo information as a separate window.
I want to open two photos to work on a blend but I can only have one open at a time. When I open another, it simply replaces the previous one I had open. I can't access both at the same time. There must be a setting I am missing. I am working on PhotoshopCS3.
I have just switched from PS CS5 to CC. Under CS5, the default for opening multiple images put them in separate windows. Under CC, the default appears to be to put them in separate tabs and one must select separate windows from the Window Arrange sub menu. How can I restore the CS5 default. I prefer to always open multiple images in separate windows.
I am using Windows 7 32 bit system with 4GB ram and graphics accelerator.I have Photoshop CS5.1 installed in the same system at it works perfectly. Â What happens is when I use the B+W function, I get an error message saying that I have not enough ram. After that, when I open the next photo with Camera Raw, the raw image will not open. Â I have already maximised the Ram that Photoshop can use to 1.7GB and there is more than enough space in my scratch disk.
ERROR: Could not save photo.jpg because the file is locked. Use Properties command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file.
Actions took: I fully installed all the updates, when unsuccessful, I repaired the installation, when that was unsuccessful, I completely uninstalled and then reinstalled Photoshop. This was also unsuccessful.
Our photos are on a network share and the user has full access to the folder and files (they are not locked or read only). When I access the photos on a different computer, I can open them, make changes, and then save without any problems. When the affected user does, they get the above error when trying to saveand they have the exact same access as the one that works.
PhotoShop CS4. It seems if I open one .jpg image, it looks fine. If I open a second image, it seems to be dimmed just a bit and not as bright. If I go back to the first image, it is no longer as bright anymore either.
In CS3 I can go to a file and chose 10 or more photos at one time. If I open 3 in CS4... I can adjust the first one but as soon as I close it and open the next photo.. the background for the next photo comes in black.same for the rest I have chosen.Â
I work with OpenEXRs 3D renders alot. While they are usually lossless at 32bpc, there are options to save at lossy 24-bit float and lossy 16-bit float with drastically reduced file sizes.(Photoshop still opens them up as 32bpc) Â How do these compare to Photoshop's 16bit color? (Which I'm assuming is 16-bit integer?)At 16-bit float, I'm throwing out half the color information, but I'd still have vastly more color information than 16-bit integer? When do I really need 32bpc float? And when is 16bpc float "good enough"?
How do I open photos in Elements 10 from iphoto? I keep getting the message "could not complete your request because of program error" I'm working on a new Mac OS that I purchased only about one month ago and I installed a brand new version of Elements 10.
I have a Canon G15, Elements 9, Windows 7.My photos weren't opening in Raw "cannot open because its the wrong type of file". I did some research and downloaded the 7.3 update.I still can't open a raw file from elements. Same error message. But I can separately use the DNG converter.Shouldn't the converter be integrated with Elements, so I wouldn't have to do a separate conversion, just click on the raw file?
I have scanned hundreds of photos and have put them on cd to view on the tv. I have adjusted some in photoshop and saved as jpgs but for some reason the ones that I have adjusted wont open on the tv. I am wasting discs.
