In photoshop cs 6, if i right click on any layer, with the move tool [black arrow], the menu shows lots of layer names which contains my layer too.

On the other hand in Photoshop cs5 and earlier versions this right click thing would show the name of only, only the layer on which the mouse was clicked, not a big list that’s a pain in the head. Takes so long to choose the layer I wanna work.

I have experienced this problem on windows xp 32 bit and windows 7 64 bit. All the systems were free of viruses and I also did this experiment with different files. What’s wrong in cs6?
Is there a difference between selecting your layer and clicking Add Layer Mask Icon versus having that layer selected, hold down ctrl and select Add Layer Mask Icon?
Also regarding working in Lightroom, if I modify a jpeg, select another image from filmstrip to work on and then go back to the first image for more work, are those actions degrading image even though I never physically save and close.
Today i opened a psd file which 200 layers. Paint.net is very slow then (as all layers are flatten, pdn is missing hierarchical layers), but that is another problem.
I wanted to hide some background layers and "copy merged" a selection.
It took me 10mn to find all the backgrounds layers without this tool.
In photoshop the tool exist as a property of the "move selection" tool. Ie: you must first select the move selection tool, then select "layer" in the properties toolbar.
Any way to get that for v4 ? Will v4 be on github so we can clone and make patches ?
I have a really weird problem with one of my files. When I click on the text, it changes the text to completely different words. Seems like it is corrupt somehow... see below images to see what I mean. Is there a fix? I'm on CS6 mac OS 10.8.4. Â Before:

Out of curiosity I also opened up the file in text edit to see if there was anything obvious, and here's some of the code. I'm finding that having to click the "commit transform" check mark after every adjustment to be annoying. Is there a way to automatically commit transform by clicking a new layer? or make middle click commit the transform?
Photoshop cs6 extended (64bit) flashes black when clicking on canvas or on a layer. I can't get anything done, I have already uninstalled and reinstalled... all other Creative Cloud apps work fine. I'm using windows 8.
I have the layers tab open in my toolbox, so I can see all the layers listed. I'm wondering if there is a fast way to find a layer. I'd like to click on my image and (ideally) see the layer highlighted in the toolbox, so I don't have to search for it.
In Photoshop I've seen it's possible to select or move the contents of a selected layer by clicking and dragging *anywhere* on the canvas, which avoids the problem of misclicks inadvertently deselecting the current layer (and selecting another instead). This happens especially when trying to select thin, hard-to-see, or small graphics mixed with bigger graphics on other layers.
I know you can 'solo'/isolate a layer by double clicking on it but is there a shortcut for this? I've looked but I don't know what this feature is called. Is it assignable to a KB SC?
I'm building a custom action and it would be great if I could record clicking the layer eyeball off. Â Is there a menu command equivalent for turning current layer visibility off?
In CS5 alt clicking in an adjustment layer (eg curves) permitted naming the layer and making a clipping path This does not happen in CS6.How do you do that in CS6?
When I select an area in Photoshop CS6, I can no longer deselect by clicking outside the area. My tool tip displays the cross with the plus sign in the lower right to indicate I am in additive mode. I can right click for a dropdown menu and choose "deselect" , but that is a drag that interrupts my thought flow and so annoys me.Â
I've tried going into preferences and making sure the cursor is "standard." I've reset my preferences. No caps locked, etc. What is going on? More importantly, how can I make it so that all I have to do is click outside the selection to deselect it. I'm working on a Mac, if that makes any difference.
Trying to create a header. I created the buttons in a separate psd file and when I click and drag the buttons into the other canvas (my header) I'm having trouble when I click ctrl + alt + shift to duplicate the new buttons. Some layers are getting left behind. Should I flatten or merge the layers of the button before I click and drag the button into the other canvas (header)?
I'm using PS4 Extended on Windows SP3 and whenever I double click on a JPEG, TIFF or PSD file, it will open Photoshop but the file itself does not open. I've checked to make sure PS4 is the chosen program to open with both in Properties as well as in File Types. Dragging and dropping a file into Photoshop will work.
In Bridge, when I double click on a image, it opens the image in Windows Photo Viewer rather than in Photoshop CS6 Editor. I have checked the preferences but all that it offers me is to open in Camera RAW. How do I change this?
Sometimes I open a file with layers in PS and click on a text layer, to move or change it, and immediately the text and font changes into another text/font from the document. Can not save the file then the problem stays forever. I can´t touch/change any text layer without this problem. Happens on every ca. 10th - 20th file I open... how can this be fixed?
.cr2 files... i open them in either Bridge or Photoshop to the ACR panel, make changes, click DONE. when i reopen them to, say, make futher changes or process a whole bunch of files, all settings are back to default, all adjustments forgotten.  this seems to happen often, but NOT always. weird.  using MAC 10.6.8    photoshop CS6 with latest updates installed.... this has happened for awhile, though...
Basicaly when I'm drawing something I'm starting to notice that quite often photoshop 'randomly' repeats my last action or makes a line from where I clicked last. I can not explain why its happening its very odd. I'd like to know how to disable this sinceUsing PS cs5 windows 7 64-bit. I'm including a video.
This problem has happened to me quite a bit only with CS4, so i thought i'd finally ask. Practically all of my images are set to open with Photoshop. My probelm is that many times, i double click an image on my computer to open it in photoshop, and then photoshop comes up and doesnt open it or even attempt to. The image usually does open if photoshop is currently not open, and is lanuched by double clicking the image though. The problem seems very random and does it to JPEG's, PNG's, GIF's and BMP's and TIFF's as far as i am awear. PSD's seem fine. Note that this problem has not been resolved by resetting preferences as i have recently doen that and it is still here. how to make it work?
You know those "warp a celebrity" flash or java games where you click on part of the celebrity's face and drag the mouse, and the image warps? Can this sort of thing be done to your images in photoshop 6.0? (That's the version I have)
If this can't be done in Photoshop 6.0, does anyone know of a simple freeware program that I can use to warp images "celebrity warp" style?
I have Photoshop CS. When I try to use the type tool by clicking on it and then clicking on the image (to place the cursor), the background of the iamge turns a pinkish colour. My foreground and background colours are both white. My settings are default ones.
When I am in an image, selecting an area with the polygon lasso tool, every time I click a point, the image blanks out and does not redraw. I am left with my pologon selection lines and a white image where the photo should be. The only way to get the image back is to force it to scroll. I have to extend the tool off one side of the image or another to make it scroll. Otherwise the screen does not redraw. I am forced to work with my images in a window instead of fullscreen to ensure that I have part of the image to scroll to when the image blanks out. It is doing this with every click of the polygon lasso tool. Needless to say, this is maddening! Has anyone seen this behavior before? I am running Adobe Photoshop CS3 on Windows XP and the program is up to date. I have two gigs of ram and have moved up the memory allocated to Photoshop from half to two thirds. I have stopped having other programs opened. I also tried turning off the preference for the 3D graphics acceleration. So far nothing has worked to fix the problem. I have about 1100 product photos to clip out -
I have Internet Explorer 8 and Photoshop elements 9. I can't assign (in Folder options) PSE to open .JPG files in the PSE editor when I click on the file. I did this before I installed IE8.Are IE8 and PSE compatible?
I have noticed that with CS 6, I can't fully use an application by clicking on it from another open application. If I am in Illustrator and Photoshop is in the background, I click on the Photoshop interface and it comes to the front of the screen, but that's all it does...no functionality beyond this. What must be done is for me to click on the Finder first, then click on the application icon in the Dock in order to access the program's functionality fully. Â It doesn't matter if it's Lion or Mountain Lion...I have two machines with different operating systems and both do the same thing. Â I don't know if this is an Adobe issue or an Apple OS issue. I have looked into all the preferences on the applications as well as the OS X control panels...no luck.
I have one large file and think it didn't save correctly or something. I've tried quitting and relaunching Photoshop but that doesn't work. Editing text in other Photoshop files works normally. Â As soon as I click on any text with the type tool as though I'm going edit or style the text, the text instantly changes. Both the content and styling of the text is replaced as soon as the cursor is placed anywhere in the string of characters. Â The really weird thing is the updated text matches text that appears somewhere else on the page. If I click the other text that it now matches that will also get automatically replaced by some other text on the page. And it goes on and on. It's impossible to edit or style any text unless I create new text. Â I think the file has miss-arranged references to elements which only becomes apparent as I'm trying to edit.
I"m using photoshop cs5 and the liquify filter dosen't show any effect until after I've clicked ok. I've checked, and unchecked "show backdrop" and the opacity is set to 100%.
I am using PS 5.5. Has been working fine for years and suddenly now upon clicking save for web, i get the error message; could not support the export command because Photoshop 5.0 does not supply the services required by the plug-in module and then crashes.
When I try to add a layer mask either by clicking the icon in layers panel or going layer>add mask I am not getting a usable mask. The layer mask icon in the layers panel is added to the image, but it is still the rectangle with a white circle in it, not an icon with an all white or all black background. Clicking on this icon does not produce a mask to paint, whether white or black. why I am not getting the typical pixel layer mask that can be used to paint and reveal the image beneath?
