I have Internet Explorer 8 and Photoshop elements 9. I can't assign (in Folder options) PSE to open .JPG files in the PSE editor when I click on the file. I did this before I installed IE8.Are IE8 and PSE compatible?

When I double-click a file it will open the file in CS6 version 13.0.1, but then after a while double-clicking will no longer open jpeg or raw files. I can open the same files by going to File > Open in the Menu Bar.
When I am simply opening downloaded files from my camera, I can open 200-300 by double-clicking with no problems. However, at times when I am working on an image, it is not long before I can't open a file by double-clicking. It will open a blank Photoshop window, but without any Toolbar or Menu Bars.
This happens on a regular basis. Sometimes, also, Photoshop is slow to Quit, for no apparent reason.
ok i have been using photoshop cs6 since january and it worked fine but now when i double click on the the ps icon, NOTHING HAPPENS.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis problem has happened to me quite a bit only with CS4, so i thought i'd finally ask. Practically all of my images are set to open with Photoshop. My probelm is that many times, i double click an image on my computer to open it in photoshop, and then photoshop comes up and doesnt open it or even attempt to. The image usually does open if photoshop is currently not open, and is lanuched by double clicking the image though. The problem seems very random and does it to JPEG's, PNG's, GIF's and BMP's and TIFF's as far as i am awear. PSD's seem fine. Note that this problem has not been resolved by resetting preferences as i have recently doen that and it is still here. how to make it work?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem with Photoshop CS. When I double-click on a tiff, jpeg, or Photoshop file it launches the program, but it won't open the image. In order to do that I must go to file and choose open. This is much more trouble. I can't figure out why. My photoshop guru friend couldn't figure out why. Any ideas?
Also, and this may or may not be related. When I open the program I get the following message: For Photoshop UI to display correctly, open System Preferences, click General, and turn off text smoothing for font sizes 8 and smaller.
The weird thing is, when I did what message suggested, I discovered that there was no "text smoothing" option to turn off under Preference (under General) in Photoshop. There is no General in the computer's System Preferences, so I'm assuming the message refers to Photoshop Preferences.
Upgraded to PSE 11. Now when I click on a file, PSE starts but does not load the file. This was working fine in PSE 6-10. The file association in Windows 7 (now too with Windows 8) is still there for all picture file types but they won't open when I click on them. I can open them once I'm in PSE just fine. I uninsalled and reinstalled PSE and still nothing.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently traded in my Canon T3i for a T4i, and now PS Elements 10 won't open the CR2 RAW files from this camera. According to "Help - Plug In" I have V 6.7, so I went to the Adobe site which said I needed V 7.1, which I download, and extracted, but it won't install it in the software; when I click on the extracted AdobePatchInstaller application, I get a message stating "Update Failed" and "this patch is not applicable for you". Also, when I click "Help-Updates" it tells me everything is up to date.

When I double click a jpg file to open it in the editor the editor opens but the image does not open. However if I open the editor and open any jpg file then double click on another file it will open.
I am using PSE 11 & Windows 7. Was working just fine. I opened up some RAW photos through the organizer; selected a file to view, and clicked on editor > photo editor to open and edit it. This worked fine, too. It would open in the RAW editing window first (where I make the RAW adjustments like exposure, etc.) and then I'd click open image and edit in PSE 11 just like I wanted to.
I did this for several photos, got up to go to the bathroom, and came back to my cat on my laptop keyboard. Of course.
Now, after rebooting, reopening PSE, rebooting again,I cannot view my photo in the editor. I go to PSE organizer, find my RAW photo, and click on editor > photo editor just like I used to. It flashes "edit in progress" just like it should, flips over to the empty PSE 11 window, and just sits there. Empty. The photo's not showing up.
I've clicked every button/setting/menu I can find. In the bottom toolbar there's the option "show open files" or "show files selected in organizer". When I click "show files selected in organizer", a tiny preview of the photo I'd selected shows up in the lower toolbar, but not in the main gray workspace. Taunting me. I've click-dragged, right clicked, etc. when I just try to open the file from PSE, instead of going through organizer, it doesn't work either.
I am unable to open Nikon D7000 NEF files in Elements 8. I have been unsuccessfull in downloading the version 5.7 update from the web site. After downloading several times the files are still not recognized in Elements 8.

View 3 Replies View RelatedRunning Mac os x Mountain lion (latest release 10.8.3 I believe) and Latest release of Gimp (just installed last week 2.8.4)
If I double click and open a file (file format doesn't matter, jpg,tiff, xcf etc) the file opens gimp and it opens correctly.
However If once gimp is open I try and double click on another file it pops up an error "The document "text.xcf" could not be opened. Gimp Cannot open files in the "Gimp Image" format.
If I then close gimp and double click that same file it opens gimp and the files opens as normal.
It doesn't matter if i'm logged in as administrator or a regular user. I've tried downloading the program and copying it back to the app folder again.
Perhaps I need to wipe out the GIMP folder in ~/Library/Application Support ?
I recently switched to a new machine and manually copied and pasted my custom settings over and set paths to the new location. Everything seems to work fine except when I click on "Plot Stamp Settings".I receive an error that says "Data Link Files" and sometimes it says "LISP".
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy main user folder on the iMac is set to be shared (read/write, including all enclosed files) with my MacBook Pro. The job is a series of one-page InDesign files (they are newspaper advertisements). The IDD files contain a series of Illustrator files with linked PSD files.The idea is that we can both work on the .idd and .ai files in the same folder at the same time.
It's all working fine EXCEPT that whenever an .ai file is opened on the MacBook, Illustrator doesn't know where the linked PSD files are. We can update the link, but when the .ai file is then opened on the iMac and saved, the same thing happens the next time it is opened on the Macbook.
I don't want to embed the PSD files into the .ai files as sometimes I have to modify them and they can be linked to up to 20 .ai files.

I recently purchased CS6 and loaded it to my desktop PC running Windows 7 and everyhing is fine.
I recently purchased a new laptop and loaded a second copy to it (running Windows 8). When I process a RAW file and try to open it in PS6 about every 4th file does not appear in the PS6 workspace. The file details show in the top left corner, the background layer appear, I supposedly can save this file but I cannot see anything. When I close PS6 and re-open it and re-open the ACR file, then open to PS6 if works fine.
I have Photshop CS6 Extended but when I click on the .cr2 which is the RAW file I keep getting an error message "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document"
I have tried installing the camera raw plugin Photoshop Camera Raw 7.1

Today I find that JPEGs will not open in Photoshop, and in Bridge only by going through Camera Raw. Photoshop will open tiffs, while Bridge will open some, but not all tiffs, through Camera Raw only. This problem follows many months of trouble-free operation of CS6.
My operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate. I have downloaded the latest patches for CS6, and have set the Bridge Preferences item on File Associations to Default.
I am using win 7 and CS5. I have both JPG and RAW files; however all of a sudden when I attempt to open some JPG files, they somehow are vertically truncated only opening halfh the picture.

I try to open an EPS file that was created in Illustrator or Freehand (or any other EPS that is not a Photoshop EPS), it opens up
as a blank document, like a transparent layer (you just see the
gray and white checkerboard background).
This happens whether I try to open the file by FILE>OPEN or if I drag the EPS file over the PS7 icon.
I tried everything and looked everywhere but without success.
I had bought CS4 and Lightroom from Adobe.
My raw files ( nef as well as dng) open fine on it, however when they are converted, there is a mesh in front of the image.
My jpg files previously adjusted in CS2 also do not open properly with same mesh in front of them.
I cannot see open files in the workspace on cs3, the file will show thunbnail in the layers box but will not open in workspace.

When opening the 1st file I got this error message: Could not complete your request becaus the file is not compatible with this version of Photoship. When opening the 2nd file I got this error message: Could not complete your request because it is a not a valid Photoshop document.
