Photoshop :: Automated Export Of Layers

Feb 24, 2003

Via Actions, the Sphere filter, and a great original earth pic , I've generated a 352 layer file of the earth spinning. Each layer shows the earth from a slightly different angle. WIth lighting effects and all, it's pretty cool.

Now I want to export it to 352 (alpha-channel-enabled) .png files for inclusion ito a Director program. (A simple GIF animation using ImageReady leaves fringing.)I cannot figure out how to create the separate files except via by hand. Any ideas?

Photoshop :: How To Merge Adjustment Layers To Several Layers And Export To Files

May 31, 2012

I have now exactly the same problem as below with over 1000 images, I have saved them in .psd that has over 100 layers each. On top of those there is curves and levels layer that affects every layer below. I want to save all images to .jpg for videoedit with those curves at least. I don't want to merge same curves 100 times. Is there a solution in phothoshop cs5 or cs6 available? Would save alot of working hours. All I have got by this far is blank white images of adjustment layers and non adjusted jpg-files.

This discussion was opened in 2010 and I quess this is same problem:
"
How to merge adjustment layers to hundreds of layers?

Jul 28, 2010 10:38 AMSay I have a photoshop File with 100 layers.

And say I created 3 adjustment layers on top of those 100 layers to get the adjustments that i want for those layers.   I'm happy with the adjustments but Then I NEED to merge those 3 adjustment layers to ALL those 100 layers.

Is there a way to easily permanently apply the adjustments to each of those layers without having to do it manually? I absolutely need to merge the adjustments to the seperate layers because of how the layers are being used in a seperate 3d program.

So far what I've been doing is duplicating the adjustment layers for each layer and merging them to said layers separately.. I wish I could just right click the adjustment layer and Tell it to merge to everylayer it affects  or apply to every layer underneath it!

Photoshop :: Export PSD Layers To Files?

Jun 2, 2012

I've been chasing this Layer Export Nirvana for a couple of years now but I've got nowhere. In ImageReady 2 I could import a PSD file and export layers with exactly the name I used for each layer (with no annotations, prefixes or suffixes), with the entire file size (not cropped to the edge of the image) in a PSD format. The script in Photoshop adds extenions to the file name that I can't see how to turn off.

I've tried a couple of free (SciptsRus) and commercial (Ferry) scripts but they don't seem to work with my version of Photoshop (Mac CS5 OS X 10.7.4). Is this a result of the recent Javascript updates with Mac OS X 10.7? I'll contact the authors of these scripts next and see what they say.

I tried a PC program called Super Layer which exports to PNG files and almost was what I wanted except it cropped the file size to the size of the image. I could get away with this I suppose if I copied a 1% single pixel into each corner of the file but that would be time consuming for all the layers I need to export (500-600) and means I'd have to rasterise the type layers which is also double handling.

I've even tried Graphic Converter on a Mac but can't get that to quite work. I end up with solid white backgrounds and no transparency. All I want is to open a PSD file (preferably on Mac OS) and export each layer at the same size on a transparent background with just the name of the layer as the file name as a PSD file. I'll alos accept .PNG format as well as long as I get transparency and full file size. Just like we could do with brilliant effeiciency with ImageReady CS2. I've actually kept an old version of ImageRady on my PC for just this purpose but surely in the 21st Century there is a way around this?\

Photoshop :: Export Manipulated Layers To Files

Aug 17, 2013

I'm  working with CS5. I'm trying to export layers of a single PSD file to individual jpeg files, but I want to keep the manipulations I've made on each layer and multiple layers on the exported files themselves instead of each manipulation being exported as its own file. For example if i change the brightness of all my layers and then go to scripts and "export layers to files" the layers do not keep the change in brightness. Instead it keeps the original brightness level and a JPEG file gets created just for the brightness itself (it looks like a blank sheet).

Photoshop :: Export Layers To Files; Transparent

Setting the background color in the toolbar seems to have no effect.

Photoshop :: Export Layers To File (With Same Background)

May 30, 2006

I have found the "Export Layers To Files" in File-->Scripts which is pretty slick. I have a PSD file with about 60 layers, so this is handy.

The trick though, is that when they get exported out to a file I want them all to have the same background.

I have a layer that I want to be the background for all the images, right now it's "Layer 1". Is it easy to modify the export all layers script to use Layer 1 on the image copy before saving it? It looks like the script takes each layer, creates a new file, copies the layer (which is transparent) and then saves as a JPG. I just want one extra step in there that will copy the Layer 1 layer for each image too.

Photoshop :: Scripts -> Export Layers To Files (CS3)

Feb 10, 2009

I'm having an issue with the script "Export Layers to Files."

When running this script, it does something I wasn't expecting...

When it saves each layer to a file, instead of using the size of the layer selection, it saves the layer in the workspace size.

Example: Try to export a 998x60 footer image... it takes the layer and saves it in a workspace size of 1010x1410. So now I've got my footer image inside of a giant white box.

Basically, I was hoping to use this as a mass-export for web design images... but it's not working the way I had hoped. =

Anyone have any solutions?

Photoshop :: How To Merge And Export 2 Layers With Blending Modes

Sep 12, 2011

I'm working on some graphics for an iPhone app for which I need to export images to png.

The image has an inner and an outer glow to create a glowing LED effect. The problem I have is the outer glow has the 'screen' blending mode applied and when I export this the blending mode defaults to 'Normal'. The image must have a transparent background because it will be used in different locations on top of a brushed aluminium background effect.

I understand that the blending mode takes the background layer into account when determining the output. Any alternative way of creating this glowing LED effect which I can export with a transparent background?

I have attached an example of this, the first 'light' is how I want it to appear when merged. The second 'light' is how it currently looks when merged.

Photoshop :: Animated GIF Export - Make Frames From Layers

Jun 14, 2013

Frame animation plays fine when played from timeline but all layers are exported stacked on top of each other for the duration of the whole animation. I'm able to see that because the layers have transparency.

About animation - 8 frames with in endless loop, imported into a timeline via 'Make Frames from Layers' command in a fly-out menu in the Timeliine window. Tweens for animation are off, 01.sec delay for all frames

I was able to export animated GIF before, wondering if this issue is tied to the latest update.

Photoshop :: Automated 2 Color Separations

Aug 3, 2012

I have a very large number of 4-color TIFFs that I need converted to 2-color PSD or DCS files. Before I do a whole lot of banging my head against the wall — or heavens forbid trying to write my own script from scratch — I'd like to know if it's feasible.

First, I'm not new to this. I don't need instructions on how to create 2-color DCS files from 3- or 4-color art. I do it quite often. Only I do it manually (using different methods, depending on the art).

What I have are hand-drawn illustrations, mostly black line with blue tints. The problem is they're 4-color. The colors are consistent — I have the same 4 tints or shades of blue plus black (or 3 tints of blue and one blue/black mix + black). I have no issues using grayscale + levels to generate the spot color channels, or Select Color Range and different percentage fills in those channels.

What I have is about a thousand of them — yes, literally 1,000 images — and I need them done as soon as possible. I don't relish the idea of going through all of them with the same operation, not when it can be automated.

So that's my question — can it be automated? What I understand is this is primarily a process that requires human intervention — a human brain that can decide "this, not that." Can I create an Action that says (for example):

set theColorRange to 67, 32, 23, 6
select theColorRange
fill channel Pantone Black 4 U 40%
fill channel Pantone Process Blue 100%

set theColorRange to 45, 15, 15, 0
etc...
