I'm trying to create a shadow but I'd like to make it so it appears like it's in 3D. The shadows utility under Layer Style makes a shadow as if the object would be floating on top of the other layer. But what if I would like to make it appear as if it would be touching the other layer at one point. For example a ball on a table or a person standing up on the grass.
try to get rid of shadows in a photo but I want to add one. I'm adding another person to a group and want to get the shadow on one side of the face so that it blends in with the others.
I've tried using the burn tool but it doesn't look right.
This is an old Kodak PCD image of a stained glass window converted to a TIF and a small portion made into a JPG for the purpose of this illustration. I would like to make 2 corrections:
1) I would like to accentuate the brush marks in the face. From my humble notions of PS I know that pulling the contrast slider across isn't really the answer but something like finding the fainter, darker pixels and accentuating them with some kind of mask is more the way to go.
2) There is an outdoor shadow that runs up the left hand side of the image which I would like to eliminate.
I don't know if this problem was already there in earlier 3ds max versions, but i cant find anywhere on the internet how to create a shadow on a invisible plane like matte shadow could :
I drew a box, then applied a drop shadow going to the right. I duplicated the layer, then dragged it to the left of the first box. I edited the drop shadow to go to the left, and it changed, but so did the first one. I cannot get the two drop shadows to go in different directions.
I've tried different things, drawing separate boxes, etc. but it still will not work.
Does anyone know why this is happening or why I can solve it?
I'm creating a banner in photoshop and importing 2 screen shots (print screen) onto the banner. I want to add a shadow behind them, wondering how this would be done.
if anyone knew a way in which i could create realistic shadows.
The drop shadow just places them behind upright. If i have a source of light in the image and i add another imgae how can i create a shadow that i can rotate as in corel draw?
I'm trying to duplicate this effect on a Shakira picture, but have had no luck at all. I need to know how the skin was made so light and sparkly. And the eyes and the eyeshadow, how was that done? Code:
I am working on a intro page for an artist website. I would like to do an easel with one of her works on it, with a spotlight shining down from upper left or right. How do I achieve the shadow of the easel with the spotlight? I am using the lighting effect in PS for the spotlight.
I'm building a web page and wanted to add some drop shadows to my photos to make them pop a little. how to add a drop shadow,
1.First way was I selected the entire photo and tried a layer effect. Didn't work.
2. Then I created a new layer that was a rectangle. put it behind the background copy and tried to add the dropshadow to the rectangle thinking it might show up from behind the bg layer. I couldn't even add the drop shadow to the rectangle.
When i apply a drop shadow to one layer, then add a drop shadow to another layer, their directions stay linked so when i change the direction of the 2nd shadow, the first one moves too. Why is this?
I have found a strange problem with CS4, if I load a file, create a background of a solid colour, and then paste in a masked image, the new image appears OK, and sure enough I can see that it is in the center of the background. if I then try to add a shadow to this top layer, nothing appears?? If I try the same thing in CS3 it works! does anyone know if there is a reason for this, or if I am doing anything wrong? I was wondering if there is a memory issue or if there is a setting somewhere that I need to check out. It does seem to happen only when I am working with some large images, I have though tried loading one of these images and then reduced it to 800 x 800 pixels, but still nothing happens. I really would love to find a working solution if anyone out there can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it...
i'm working on my little b&w artwork only using photoshop (see below). now i try to add some shadow to the figure. this shadow should look quite realistic.

I would like to add an even drop shadow all around an image. But when I move the angle from O to 180 degrees the shadow moves. I want to make the drop shadow the same at 0 as at 180.
I have been using Photoshop for a while in various graphic-oriented tasks. The problem I am facing is as follows: I was asked to do a watermark on some images on a net-store. The problem with this is that I want to do them in an unorthodo-style. See I have done it all before, just canīt remember, nor find information on how to do it. I want to do the "watermark" from a shadow of a text, so that the shadow follows the pictures curves. I remember that there is somewhere in there a function that allows you to "count" the depth based on brightness etc. In other words I want an effect that a text is casting a shadow on a 3d-object, which here is a 2d-photograph. Somebody following me? Could somebody please help? I have already made a font of the logo that is to watermarked. I plan to cast a shadow from it on the pic, then copypaste the upper part so that the text the shadow is casted from doesnīt show.

I found this excellent tutorial on how to change shadows, etc. It included the ability to change the amount, the tonal width and the radius, BUT, I cannot find it in my PS 7.
I've played around for some time trying to duplicate this effect and can't seem to get the right combination. Does anyone have any ideas how it could be done?
