Photoshop :: Activation Not Available For CS

Dec 31, 2012

I am still running PS CS on Windows 7 - it does all that I need.  I just cloned my system disk to a SSD and had to make some changes to the virtual memory settings as a result.  PS CS now says that the machine configuration has changed and it needs to be re-activated (yawn).

However when I try to activate online it says 'the activation system is not available at this time.'  Is this because it's not possible to activate PS CS any longer, or is it genuinely just broken today?  I have retired over a period of a couple of hours.

Photoshop :: CS4 Activation

May 18, 2009

how to disable a registered copy of Master Suite? I currently have it installed on both my laptop and my desktop. One day my desktop's hard drive corrupted itself and would not allow my pc to boot no matter what I tried. So I ended up doing a low level format to my drive and reinstalling the operating system along with master suite. I was not able to deactivate my desktop's CS4 install because the computer was not able to boot into windows. Formating did not disable my copy of master suite, so when I restalled master suite it claims that I have it running on three computers yet, I have it only running on two computers. I installed it on to same pc, with the same operating system. My big question is, how do I disable the defunct copy of CS4 that is not working so I can use my fresh install of CS4 and my current install of CS4 on my laptop? Please help. PC specs: Intel Q9450 @ 3.6GHz (8 x 450FSB) / Abit IX38 Quad GT / 8Gb G.Skill @ 5-5-5-15 1000MHz / 2X 8600GT's (Core 700Mhz - Mem 760Mhz) / 2X Seagate 500GB (RAID 0) + 2X Seagate 1.5TB / Creative Labs X-Fi / PCP&C Silencer 750W / Lian Li V2000B Plus II / Vista Ultimate X64 SP1

Photoshop :: PS CS2 Activation

May 23, 2008

I'm trying to install Photoshop CS2 for a client, but when I launch the application I get the error: "An error has been detected and activation cannot continue. Please restart your computer and reinstall the application"

I've already done the obvious thing to reboot and re-install the application with the same error. I tried deleting temporary files to no avail. Is there any other solution I should try before I re-image the machine?

Photoshop :: CS2 & Activation

Aug 19, 2009

Does the CS2 version of Photoshop actually do anything when you click the 'activate' option in the Help menu? Mine does not. I attempted to activate it via the phone system as well, and it asks for an activation number that should have been provided during installation, but does not appear anywhere on the registration page or anywhere else in the software. I've tried to contact Adobe, but from what I've seen on the Support boards, I may never hear from them. Allegedly (according to the support site) I should get an initial response via email within 4 hours of submitting the ticket (never got that) and some sort of informed reply within 3 days. So far, not a thing. Trying to contact them by phone results in literally hours listening to bad muzak and an automated system, but no human contact. Does anyone have any info on this? I realize it's an older version, just trying to determine if this is normal behavior for that version, or if perhaps the vendor needs to be visited by the Men in Blue.

Photoshop :: CS6 Subscription Activation

Jul 23, 2012

I was wondering if it is standard behaviour for my PS CS6 subscription to require me to log in to Activate the license EVERY time I use it? I thought that one it was activated, PS only checks the Activation every 30 days. Once I log in the activation works fine, however if for any reason my internet connection was not available, it would seem that I would not be able to use my copy of PS.

I realize that that would happen even if the check was every 30 days, but that would only be a possible issue once a month, not every day!

Photoshop :: Transfer Of Activation

Aug 17, 2008

So I just purchased a new computer, and with the work I do, sometimes it's easier to have two iterations of Photoshop running on two different computers. In other cases, someone in my family is using my computer, for something other than Photoshop, so I just want to sit at the other computer.

So I installed CS2 Suite on the new computer, which went fine, then activated it, which it said went fine, then when I went to use the software it says I didn't have a properly registered software, or something to that effect.

So I looked over the license agreement and it basically says you can have a copy on another machine, but you can only use one at a time...which after reading further, leads me to believe I have to de-activate the software on one computer before I can activate it on the other.... so in effect, I don't believe I can run on two machines at the same time...

Photoshop :: Activation Limit

Jul 2, 2008

Recently I became aware that PhotoShop CS3 has a limit of activation / deactivation. I have always supported companies in fighting unauthorized use of software and in fact lost my job and was out of work for a year after refusing to pirate software for clients. This stand has cost me greatly in personal finance due to being out of work and it angers me to know of companies using software without a license. Even when I reported the issues it seems no action gets taken which I guess is due to the small sizes. Thankfully I now have a new job at a place that follows my belief of requiring licensed usage of software.

Being a network engineer I am always tinkering with my home computer and testing out new software. This means that I run betas, release candidates and even demos as a part of my profession. Consequently this has me needing to wipe out the hard drive from time to time. I always thought of the Adobe activation method as the best as it allowed one to deactivate the product prior to having a reload as the best way to go as it allowed the person to not have the hassles with reactivation. Also to keep within the license I have PhotoShop install on my office computer so that I may do work with web images from time to time. To ensure that nobody at the office uses my PhotoShop I have been deactivation it and removing the key.

Photoshop :: CS2 Activation Error

Feb 11, 2009

It came in the retail box and the CD still had the seal on it. It looked very legit (not that it always means anything, I guess), but when I try to install it I get the message that an activation error was encountered.

Is this error a sign that I may have gotten bogus software? Is there a way I can verify if I have a legit copy or not?

Photoshop :: Activation Cannot Continue

Jan 19, 2008

I purchased a new copy of PS CS2 and after install, I activate it and it says information was sent. Then a few seconds later I receive an error message:
"An error has been detected and activation cannot continue. Please restart your computer and reinstall application."

I have reinstalled at least six time, even once via SAFE MODE. I have installed via two different CD rom drives, I have followed all the suggested fixes and nothing seems to work.

I then installed on my laptop, and I receive the same error message.

I can, on both computers, open ImageReady CS2 and use it; it seems to be affecting only PS CS2.

Photoshop :: CS1 Activation Crack

May 20, 2008

The issue is with Photoshop CS1 not having the same ability as every other version of Photoshop to either backup the activation information, or provide the Adobe crack CD to bypass the activation.

I sometimes have to reinstall my entire OS multiple times per month and when doing so must reinstall Photoshop. At this time, the software requires activation. Since those who purchase Photoshop are automatically volunteered to the Adobe anti-piracy program, the user must call Adobe every single time that you want to use the product. This issue has cost me easily over a few thousand dollars in company time already and I am desperate for a solution.

As a reference, CS2 & CS3 have built-in functions to backup the registration information so that you can use the software without spending a day or two on the phone.

Earlier versions of Photoshop such as ver 5.5 do not require enrollment in the anti-piracy program, so Adobe can just send the crack CD that will work with the license number that is received when the product is purchased. The last company I worked with was using 5.5 and required Photoshop to be installed on a laptop without networking abilities and that is how I learned of the crack CD from Adobe.

how to either obtain the CS1 activation crack from Adobe, or how to backup the activation information,

Photoshop :: Can Suspend Activation Of CS6 On Old Computer

Sep 2, 2013

I know that I can install my LR4 upgrade directly to my new Macbook Air and that it will just ask me for the serial number from LR3 without LR3 installed on the new computer. (URL....)

Is it the same with CS6? Can I just plug in the serial number from CS3?If, instead of installing from the disc (so old fashioned, I know!), I migrate it over through a clone external drive of my old computer (that I still want to use), do I have to migrate over both CS3 and CS6?

Also, can I suspend activation of CS6 on the old computer (and just use CS3 if I need to do something less complex) and use it on the new one?

Is there a page that Adobe has that you can go and enter in an activation code and see if it is activated or if it has not activated?

Photoshop :: CS3 Activation Woes - Can't Find The...

Sep 27, 2008

The situation: Not long after CS3 came out I installed it on PC "A". About a year later I built PC "B" to replace PC "A". I installed CS3 on PC "B" with activation being successful. Eventually (totally forgetting about activation) I tore the innards out of PC "A" and rebuilt it from the new motherboard up, including the hard drives. I installed CS3 on PC "A" this morning only to be informed via dialog that there were too many activations and that I should purchase a new serial number. No phone number. No leads to a phone number that I could find.

Photoshop :: License Activation/Deactivation

I have Windows XP with Production premium installed. I also have a laptop with Windows 7 RC, with parts of Production Premium (programs i use the most) installed on it too. I've done this to test production premium on Windows 7 as my secondary computer usage of the license (Single User). However, Windows 7 will eventually be deactivated on my laptop early next year by Microsoft, so my question is, if i tell production premium to deactivate on my laptop, will it affect my primary instalation on my XP PC? I do plan to get 7 for my PC as a full-use OS to fully replace XP when it comes out, but deactivating the product then and reactivation after instalation of 7 should work fine,

When I was through installing it (it said I installed successfully)....then I was told to register it... ...I did so...using my new address (of the laptop)...It told me It registered successfully.

I then proceeded to download updates....when all was said and done, and rebooted...said the updates were installed successfully as were the registration, and updates.

Photoshop :: CS3 Extended Activation Error 194:8

May 23, 2009

I bought a legit copy o photoshopAlbeit I bouhgt it from ebay, but it is definitely legit - not pirated , but a mfr sealed professionally produced copy of CS3 extendedI popped it open and found what I expected the documentation the DVD case with the training video and the serial number on the back. I installed CS3 extended and plugged in my serial number and was greeted with a shiny green check mark (please note this is not just some generic photoshop liscence it is recognized by the software itself). Then I began the activation nightmare that I am currently having. I clicked activateActivate nowThen I got an error telling me to pease try activating by calling customer care.I did that I went through the automated system with m serial numberand activation key and then it said it was unable to process so I retried.  Still no luck, then I got a live person on the phone. Here is what they told me:You do not have a valid serial number...Odd, I thought, since your software recognized it as a valid liscence.  I tried it in several other photoshop programs only to be greeted by a red x (liscence invalid) so the serial number I have is legit for photoshop CS3 extended, it just won't activate. I tried to tell them that.  I asked them what proof they needed from me barcode copy of serial number scan of packaging anything. They told me I needed the reciept from an authorized reseller. I'm afraid I didn't see in the liscence agreement where the agreement between provider and end user was limited by their distributorship. Thank you to me too for buyinga legitimate copy and not going with a free alternative (paint.net as been fine in the past thank you).So I continued the discussion until I finally asked for a supervisor who was slightly more willing to talk about a way we could resolve the activation problem. I am stuck getting the original reciept from the seller to prove to Adobe that their product was in fact original purchased from them.  You have to be kidding???!!!?!?!It is unactivated so we aren't even talking about a liscence transfer this product is supposed to be registered to me. And that still doesn't answer the question of how the serial number is recognized by the software and installation (meaning the serial to DVD matches) and the customer service people claim it is not valid.  I even asked them to tell me if it was a liscence used as a known pirated copy or something that should invalidate it, but all they can tell me is that it is not valid for the product. If that is the case why print it on the label and affix it to the software?On the other hand perhaps it is just a database error on their part. What if I bought it from london drugs and lost the reciept how woul they handle that.

Photoshop :: How To Backup Adobe's Software Activation

Mar 17, 2013

I have purchased Adobe Creative Suite CS6 for Windows and am using it on my desktop and notebook computer. This is the maximum number of computers I'm allowed to use it on. Since the software has an activation and deactivation feature and requires an internet connection, I assume that an activation on a third computer would not be possible. So I really have to make sure that I don't lose any of the two systems because I'd also lose one activation with it. (Or I'd need to mess with the support which I'm trying to avoid.)

Today I've noticed that my notebook shows strange error messages. Applications were missing or would not start due to wrong reasons (not compatible with x64, although this was specificly the x64 version, and it's always worked fine). I ran a chkdsk and it fixed tons or filesystem errors. Now other programs are missing and I can't even install any new ones... Unfortunately I noticed the error while trying to perform a Windows system backup. That stupid thing deleted the old version and messed up the new one. So I haven't got any right now. There's also no system restore points, so I can only reinstall the system.

 What files or registry keys do I need to copy to a safe location to backup Adobe's software activation on my computer? Would it be possible to restore such a backup on the very same hardware (maybe another disk drive in case the previous one died) but with a freshly installed Windows (same version)? I've learned several times that I cannot rely on a complete system image backup. The only backups that have ever worked 100% reliably for me were those where I copied files to a known location in a known format. But that doesn't include the activation I guess. I'd like to know where it is located so that I can perform a decent backup of it.

Don't worry, no user data is lost, but I'm kind of lucky that Photoshop still started and I could deactivate it before that wouldn't work anymore as well. (Computer systems often die slowly...)
