Sep 8, 2004I've been using photoshop 7.0 for quite some time now and i've realized that when I go to Filter > Render > Lightning effects.... i cant use the styles bar anymore....i use to be able to but recently i just cant anymore.... anyone know why i cant use the styles option in "Lightning effects" ? Would having win xp sp2 cause some conflict ?

I have tried various filters etc etc to change the colour, however it seems to change the colour but some areas just go dark. What is the best way to achieve this affect and how do I do it?

Apr 24, 2011I followed a tutorial on how to make abstract images using abstract brushes. One of the attachments is from the tutorial. The other is my result.(you will know which is whose; I used the same brush)
There must be some brush settings I need to adjust, but the tutorial doesn't say anything about them. What am I doing wrong here?(messing with shape dynamics and scattering produced a better result, but it was too bright and still looked terrible.)
GIMP :: How To Make Abstract Art
Jul 19, 2008How to make abstract art on GIMP! They will all look very different, here is a possible outcome:
1. First, open a canvas of any size. I suggest 120x480 for a sig.
2. Now set all of your gradient options to:
Mode: Difference
Gradient Abstract 1
Shape: Linear
3. Now put a gradient across the canvas.
4. Keep on putting these all over.
5. Now change the shape to Radical.
6. Put these gradients over a few times, as before.
7. Now change the mode to Hue, and the shape to Linear.
8. Put these gradients over it again. Keep on doing this until you find a style you like.
You can now add any effects you want to.. these also make great backgrounds for sigs..

Jun 20, 2008i recently took this pic in utah and i posted it in another forum and someone said to lighten the shadows to make it look better. Now the only way i know how to lighten the shadows would be to use curves but then i always end up lightening the whole pic. So then i tried shadows/highlights but have never really worked too much with that in just working on shadows and not the whole picture.

Oct 12, 2002Simply fill the area that you want filled in with random lightning with black.
After that is done, go to:
1) ->Filter->Render->Clouds
2) -> Filter->Render->Difference Clouds
3) Press Control + I to inverse the colors
4) Press Control L to select the levels
5) Adjust the levels so that the lightning is dimmed but not too much.
And from there you can change the colors by pushing Control U, and click on the "Colorize" check box. Adjust the colors as you wish! and mess with it to get cool effects!

Apr 9, 2008Bare tree branches at night in winter; background is clean sky ~ orange glow from lights. I have another picture of lightning on a black background.
How to paint the lightning from one picture onto the bare tree picture with the lightning strike occurring behind the branches.
I used a channel mask to select the sky between the branches, but the layer mask wants to insert the lightning in front of the branches.

Nov 23, 2013In the attached photo of a spread from album liner notes, you may be able to make out some handwriting (I've outlined the area in red.) I'd like that area to be easier to read than it currently is when printed in a book project I'm working on. How can I lighten that area so the handwriting is readable, without making it feel too bright, and have it still blend with the rest of it's side AND the other side of the spread?

3ds Max :: Lightning / Camera - Multiple Sun Positions
May 20, 2012I'm using 3ds (mental ray) for architectural visualization. I normally have different cameras for exterior and interior renders in one model. Each scene should have its own specific lightning and shadow settings (intensity, shadow position, etc)
Is it possible to have multiple sun positions in the same model which would be connected to each camera?
If not, what would be the best way to achieve various lightning settings? I would like to avoid having one file for each camera position.
