I recently bought PaintShop Pro Ultimate X5. So, the software is remain running in the background even when I quit the app. I must do CTRL-ALT-DEL and stop the process. Is it a bug? I think is it not normal
View 13 RepliesI have psp x3 and I created some simple scripts for example for high pass sharpening (or curves). Obviously these run silently. In one session I used the 'curves' script on 3 or 4 photos. The next time I used it it did not run silently but prompted me to set the values. So I restarted psp and its still prompting me. The 'high pass sharpening' also prompts me now instead of using the defaults. I also create new scripts which do not run silently. So, in short, no scripts run silently even if I specifically run them in silent mode.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAlthough Paint Shop Pro X4 runs the filters from Topaz Labs correctly on a single file, PSPX4 chokes when running the filters as part of a script in batch files. Not only was the program unable to apply the plug-ins correctly in a batch file, the errors were different depending on the plug-in.
I ran my tests on 8 JPG files with dimensions of 4021x3024 pix, file size averaging 2.8 MB. I then reduced the files to 800x600 pix dimensions and ran the same tests. Results were the same on both size groups. I recorded a script with only each Topaz filter, then tested the script on a single image. The script worked. The problems occurred when run in batch processing. I tested against another company's plug-in, running Alien Skin's Xenofex 2 Burnt Edges in a batch file with script on the 8 images with no problem. I also tested the same Topaz Labs filters in PhotoLine 16, recording and playing actions. The plug-ins ran perfectly in PhotoLine.
When batch processing was run in PSPX4, it was run with the test script selected and silent mode selected. Silent mode means the script should run from start to finish with no intervention by the user. Here's what happened in my tests.

I was checking XP Task Manager just now and noticed that although PSP8 isn't running as far as I'm concerned (there are no PSP8 windows open), its executable still appears in the task list.

I have just installed PSP X5 and have found a couple of problems.
First one is when I close PSP the process still runs for a good 10 minutes afterwards and consumes a lot of system memory. I found this by accident after I closed PSP X5 and then decided to start it again. It wouldn't open until I closed the previous process.
Second, when I start PSP after the splash screen and the program interface appear I have to wait about 1 minute 40 seconds before I can do anything with the program.
how to improve this situation because at the moment I don't consider this acceptable?
I'm running Windows 7 32 bit with 4Gb of RAM, other than browser and email no other big program is running inthe background
Is there any way to make vector text bear the characteristic of "closed path data"? Perhaps prior to, or after, applying the text in PSP? I am trying to import files from Corel PaintShop Photo Pro into MotionStudio 3D.
I am able to bring in vector objects created, but is there a way to make it so that vector text works also, by making vector text "closed"?
I am running Win 7 64bit Pro with several users defined on a PC. PSP X4 runs OK for my user, but all other users cannot start PSP X4 they get a message Temp Directory not defined. The Temp Directory is defined and valid with write permissions.
Windows is installed on C: drive, but User directories are on E: Drive

I have even tried copying the corel hive of HKCUSoftwareCorel from my user and "DocumentsCorel Paintshop Pro" directory to the other user, but still get the temp directory is not defined message
So basically although PSP X4 is running for one user on the PC, none of the other users can start it to run for the first time
Paint shop pro x3 Whoa am I out of date. But maybe there is still hope before I get X6. I am trying to make a background transparent so that when I insert it onto a presentations slide, the item, a Christmas tree, has no background other than what is the background of the slide. I used the background removal process, asked for 0 opacity on the background and still when I save, or paste, it is in a rectangular white box.
I'm missing something simple, I know it. But thats been my day.
How do I essentially make it a stand alone little thing with no background?
OK so I may be a bit slow, but! I've installed PSPx6. Setup my plugins etc. Even got my workspace to load and work! Only thing now that is bugging me is the background colour in the Edit window. I use the dark grey. In x5 the background to a photo in Edit mode matched the dark grey of the UI. Now in x6 it seems I'm stuck with the dark grey UI and a light grey background.
Am I missing something some where or is this option gone?
Apart from that x6 loads in 5-6 seconds. Good. Everything else 'seems' to be faster. (I'm using 64bit). BUT Adjustment layers are still slow
I have been experimenting with removing backgrounds. I can see it is easy to work with solid block objects like buildings and vehicles and stuff like that.
I want to use it with people when their hair is wind swept. So far it isn't working within the flying hair very well and if there is a small spot that needs the background to come through it doesn't work well and also takes out the main foreground as well.
I'm testing the trial of X4, and it opens in an unpleasant window which has a dark gray background - is it possible to change the color of this background?

Installed the SP1 and changed to the light grey work space color....but how or can I get rid of the dark grey application background. That didn't change when I changed the other.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a linen background. I succeed in creating the first layer and lines run horizontally. I create a 2nd layer and what should happen is I recreate the original block and then rotate ONLY the 2nd layer so it is verticle lines. Then I would do an overlay mode on the 2nd layer so that it appears to have a linen appearance. However, when I am working on the 2nd layer and rotate it (and single layer only is checked) both layers rotate to the same direction. how to actually rotate only one image on a separate layer?

I have a script that merge (Flatten) all layers but if an image has a single layer and that layer is a background layer then my script fails.What comes to my mind is to get a layer count and if that count is 1 then check if that layer is a background layer, if it is then do not merge.
How can i get a layer count and how can i get the layer type of a specific layer?Are there more resources about scripting in PSP, a library reference or something?
Just a question why cant i use Filters Unlimited on a Raster Background in PSP4. When i try it only fills a quarter of the image.

I received one last night exactly the same image information that was on the other files. It was taken from my daughter's cell and previous pictures she sent never had a problem.

Duplicated the background converted it to B/W in the Effect>Photo Effects>Black and White Film Clicked on eraser and instead of my daughter's white teeth there was an orange transparent area where I erased.I tried masking with the same effect.
I have a transparent PNG file that I want to overlap onto a background and be able to fill the transparent areas of the PNG with the background. I know you can do it for text but I can't figure out how to do it for images.

I have a jpg 350 x 250 with a white background and a photo of a girls face within a round circle in the center.
I Tried to create a transparent background it did not work for me, so I used the background eraser tool (psp12)
So now I have a circular image with a transparent background.
I have another Image of the same size and I want to place this round image 350 x 250 with transparent background on top of the second image 350 x 250. How can I do this ?
Corel SP1. I now have toolbars I can see clearly, but the black background makes it impossible to tell if an image has a thin black perimeter border. Last release I could drag the window to size it larger than the image and it was easy to see. The attachment shows the trouble and I can't find where or how to change just the background color of the work surface without changing the color of the workspace that now works best for me.

I want to use the background eraser to remove the foliage.The tool removes most of the foliage but leaves small unerased areas all over. I have to go over it many times to remove everything which takes ages.I am using the default settings for the background eraser tool. The only setting I have changed is the size (to 150).It certainly does not seem as easy to use this tool as the Corel tutorial on background removal makes it seem!

How do I save an image with a transparent background. I check of transparent background when loading up an new image. I set my image dimensions make color transparent and go. Is there any knack of selecting the item from the image cleanly. In my case its a dog. I use the lasso to go around the object but that leaves a 2mm space where the background shows through.
(Is there a way to use the lasso to make a partial selection then remove your finger from the mouse and then continue your selection from where you left off ?)
After I have Deleted the inverted selection I use the Background remover to remove the remaining 2mm of background around the dog.Again is there a knack to using this tool ? I Googled and it said to keep the removal circule half in and half out of the actual image. Also is ther a correct setting in the menu bar for the BG/removal tool..Im just experimenting.

a) I follow the tutorial above to remove backgrounds. However, the background has similar color than picture (in this case "white" - picture attached - FIG_2). So, when I use "background eraser" tool, it erase part of my picture as well. So, how to handle it properly?
b) The tutorial was usefull to other image that has different backgound color (FIG_3 attached). But using other software (Gimp) I could just take the transparency index (color=> color to alfa) with "one click" without the request of erase background manually. So, is there any similar way to do it easily in Paint Shop?
