I am new to Paint.net, a friend recommended it to me because I told him I wanted to replace GIMP to try and fix a nagging issue with my sprite work.
2. There are so many plug ins for paint.net I don't even know where to start O_O what I'm looking for however, besides what I listed above is this: A free-form rotate tool, A mirror/flip tool and other basic things like that.
3. This is my main question, what I want to do that I can't do in Gimp is be able to Re-size, and rotate png/xcf images without losing data. I know Photoshop can do this in a way but Photoshop is expensive.
Does Paint.net have a similar feature to photoshop, and if so is it A plug-in? and if so which one

im just getting used to using PS and IR together although ive been using PS for a while and i wanted to know if one of the ways to have a faster loading image was to save it for web and lower its res or to actually create more slices and have the HTML generator create a table to load the image faster?
im trying to get the best load times for a 28.8Kbps modem load (setting the bar low to get best results).

Opening my tracklog in LR4 Map (on a PC) plots it with a -5 hr offset, evidently UTC time (I'm on Central Daylight), so the images I shot on the outing won't load to the map. The points on the map in LR show the UTC time, whereas the same track opened in Google Maps shows the correct, local times. On October 3, b_gossweiler looked at ImageDesign704's tracklog and responded "I've removed the timezone inidications on the trackpoints and loaded the tracklog successfully into LR." how to get into a .gpx file and remove those timezone indicationst? My tracklog won't open in Windows.

I have created an image and would like to print as many copies of it as I can fit onto a single page from my printer (let's say A4 size). (My image is a logo that I am printing to water-slide transparency which is too expensive to waste one sheet per image). I can't seem to easily do this in Paint.Net (the options for contact sheet and wallet don't come out in quite the size I want). So I guess the best option is to save the file in another format (tiff, jpeg, PNG etc) and then copy it multiple times into another app like Word or PowerPoint, and then print from there. However my image has some transparent areas that I need to keep as transparent. How do I do this? Are there some image file formats that will retain the transparency? Likewise do word or PowerPoint support the transparent areas and print as such?

When I have a photo that has come out portrait rather than landscape which is a normal case the rotate function seems to cut off some of the two sides of the photo. If I want to rotate it what I call correctly I use Gnome Image Viewer.
Why can't I rotate images similarly with Gimp?

quick way to rotate an image 10% from a corner. Holding shift rotates it 15% and it just seems a bit long winded to have to constantly type in the amount I want to rotate. Also free transform just doesn’t feel accurate enough.

Do I use Photoshops File Browser ?

Photoshop and Bridge CS5 does not rotate SOME of my vertical images. Most other photos taken in the same time frame and with the same camera display perfectly. Orientation is checked for display under Preferences, Metadata, Camera Data.
There also seems to be a discrepancy how Orientation is described under Metadata for those images which DO auto rotate : sometimes it is -90 (which is how I hold the camera for verticals and which displays on most verticals) and sometimes it is "normal" even when it has auto rotated the image. I do not understand this difference."Normal" is also used to describe the orientation of those images which DO NOT auto rotate for viewing.
The photos in questions were taken using a Nikon D-300 which is programmed to indicate the orientation of the camera and has always been programmed to do so. I know I can manually change the orientation but we are talking about hundreds of images (I have over 10,000 photos in all; most of which display fine). What should I be looking for to explain and correct this issue?

I thought there was a way to insert an image (tif) to model space, and adjust it like you would any line or polygon. Apparently this is not the case. When I attach an image, where I place it is permanent and I can't even select it.

I've noticed when you tilt things using Rotate/Zoom the edges and some finer details can get quite jaggy.Pretty much like in Shape3D unless you check the AA option and raise the level up to 4/5. Then all the creases are ironed out and detail is kept Is it even possible to put an AA option into Rotate/ Zoom ?

How to rotate text did not work. Why would two people want to chime in with inaccurate information. The first said you go to Layers and then Rotate. All this does is rotate the entire picture not just your text. Then the other said to lasso it and right click it while you drag it either way. No such thing exists. Nothing rotates with these methods. I am not even sure there is a way to select the text?
How to rotate text? I need it for a quick logo. I have the logo saying Travel Articles and wanted the .com next to it but at a right angle. Just works well with the pic.

Is there a way to rotate the paintbrush tool? There's many times when I'm using a brush and it's at the wrong angle. Placing the brush on a separate layer and then rotating the layer is a huge hassle. Therefore, I was wondering if there was a way to rotate brushes.

I've run into Paint.NET a few weeks ago. I think it's a very good choice for beginners (and maybe professionals too) at a graphic field. I've made some cool pictures (with some cool plugins inside Paint.NET or published at the forum) and now I wanna to make my own plugin.
The question is how to move and rotate a specific part of image at source canvas. The rest of the image must be untouched. I consider it's impossible to use Layers -> Rotate/Zoom tool directly (correct me if I'm wrong). So I should use a piece of C# code. I think source code of Rotate/Zoom tool would be very useful too but I couldn't find it.

I'm drawing a small map, and in several places there is text rotated so as to fit next to a slanted line. The problem comes when I decide to move the text, usually along a line parallel to itself, or perhaps in some other direction.
As far as I can tell, the only way to select the text is with the lasso tool, which can be very difficult, because of the close tolerances. Maybe the easiest way is simply to erase the text and re-create it. So, is there some way to rotate the selection box, so I can grab the slanted text easily?

I am trying to overlap two images but one is really dominating visually and is also really busy. I'd like to 'fog out' the dominating picture without losing a lot of information from it. I think making the colors less vivid would enhance the colors of the other image, but maybe there's more I can do? The images are biological and I am working on a potential scientific journal cover page, so I can't just remove things or distort to the point where it is cartoonish. I know nothing about image processing, so I feel like I'm probably complete unaware of simple methods that could do amazing things I was unaware of above and beyond just toning down contrast or saturation.
