I wanted to combine two images one needs to be fit to the scale of the background image. So basically I followed the instructions.
Open up your background layer which was 800x600 landscape photo.
Then I imported my other image which was 600x800 portrait photo too. Layers -Import from file. I resized it then copied into a new layer. That was fine.
The problem is as soon as the new image is imported, the background image changes so that it only takes up half of the canvas. So now I've got a white area for half of the canvas. I can't seem to change this.

I need to remove the background white from this picture and make is transparent but not the middle bit with the player.
I thought about removing the bottom rectangle and then putting an ellipse around it but it's not a perfect circle...it's flat at the bottom.
Also, I can't seem to get the perfect ellipse size or move it.
How do you select an ellipse once you've made it and resize it?

I have a jpeg of two people standing in front of some foliage. I want to use the background eraser to remove the foliage. The tool removes most of the foliage but leaves small unerased areas all over. I have to go over it many times to remove everything which takes ages.I am using the default settings for the background eraser tool. The only setting I have changed is the size (to 150).It certainly does not seem as easy to use this tool as the Corel tutorial on background removal makes it seem!

I have 1 picture with a blue background and a metal steel basin. I would like to remove the background and change the color to white.
Background is a material so it's not all perfectly the same color, very slight different shades of blue in the picture. The tutorials say outline it but this is a circular metal object. I tried using the circle tool but I can't get it exact and there seems to be no way to select a circle.

I'm sure there must be a way of doing this but I've been fiddling with it for hours. How can I remove, or make a background transparent so that I don't get the white box when I use this on a coloured background.

I remember seeing a post about a plugin which allows you to remove the background from an image...
Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the plugin....
Or if you can point me to a Tutorial that deals specifically with removing a background colour from a complicated image i.e. an image with a complicated outline...

I have an image that has a white background. I want to change this background to be transparent.
I can of course select everything around the image and delete it, but the pixels near the edge are a combination of a colour and the background colour. I want to be able to change these to the colour semi transparent (ie remove the background colour portion of the pixel). Is there some easy way to do this?

I need the logo of my team from a game I play so I can modify or create profile cards. I have the original card and I'm trying to copy and paste the logo so I can use it on another image with a different background or theme. But when I copy and paste the logo I want to use, I use the "select" option and it goes with the original background. Is there an option so I can make the background dissappear and just get my logo on a transparent background for future use or edition? In this case I'm trying to make a St.Patrick's theme for the fan page of my team.

I have rather large blueprint that is black and white. Their is some noise around some of the black lines / text / etc on the drawing that I want to get rid of as well as get rid of the white back round all together (which I am hoping will reduce the file size a bit).
How to best remove the white backround / remove the noise from this large drawing?

I'm trying to remove the blitz shadow from head and body on a white/grey background, with the Lasso tool. The adjustments with Brightness/Contrast in the chosen area works like a charm, however I always get a nasty pixeled or whitelined boarder going constantly around the edited area; no matter if it boarders to a black area (shoulder) or a gray one (wall behind person).
I've tried to edit the primary/secondary color, with no luck. Any way to make this boarder "blend in" to the new brightness area - or to just remove it? The edited area is somewhat identical to the old background, so there is no natural reason to why it should be a constant boarder.
Or is it a better (and easy!) way to remove blitz shadow from a black and white picture?

Let's say I have a picture with an ugly translucent overlay, like this:
If I have a copy of the overlay that isn't transparent (or is transparent, but doesn't have anything behind it), is there a way I could use that to remove it from the original image? One application of this would be removing UIs from video game screenshots.

Is there any way to make Photoshop delete (or move to Recycle Bin, doesn't matter) a file in an Action?
Basically at the moment I manually open a picture, then I activate my Action which does a bunch of automated things, saves a .png copy, closes the file. I would like my Action to also remove the original file.
(I cannot use batch processing because the picture names do not follow a logical pattern, therefore I still wish to open the files myself.)

Using digital photography to capture the image of a large poster printed with dot structure. Portions of the image have bands caused by the pattern of dots. Resizing and rotating doesn't reduce or eliminate.
What is the best way to remove these bands in Photoshop? Note: clone tool not satisfactory (causes fuzziness, blurring). Tried selecting the affected area(s) and using Gaussian Blur but bands are too wide. Same for Dust and Scratches.

When I first got Lightroom I stupidly imported ALL my photos at once from my hard drive-all 7100 of them. Now I would like to send them back to the original places on my hard drive so I can import them in small batches and work on them. How can I do this without losing any images? Can I delete all of them (not to the recycle bin) and then reimport them?

I have a restoration order I have done and everything is great except that I cannot get the background on the restoration to match the original "yellowed" color of the original photograph.
The original is an old time school class photo from the 1940s, with the pictures of each of the students in ovals on what looks to be Kodak Ektalure N paper.
Naturally it has yellowed over time and our customer would like the same yellowed look to the restorations.
I am sure there is a simple way to take a reading of some kind off of the original and use that reading in Photoshop to match the background "off white" color of the original.
Are many of you who are doing restoration work profiling your scanners?
