I have a few large pngs that i want to cut up into 192x192 pixel boxes and save all separately. Is there anyway to do this automatically? I could crop each block but that seems like a lot of work.
So basically i want to cut up a big picture into separate smaller pictures quickly?
I've been stuck with the task of creating textures for the people's clothes and etc. He sends me the main templates which are 24 bit pngs . and I have to edit them and then save them as 32 bit png . everytime I save them as pngs though they default to 24 bit is there anyway to change them to 32 bit ?

When I save this as PNG and reload it in X3, Photo-Paint displays again exactly what I have just saved:
However when I open this same PNG in X6, the image and mask get merged into a single object:
It's in effect doing automatically a "create object from selection" function and discards then the background.Why? I can't work with the full background image anymore, because the transparent parts are missing, and the mask is also gone. Is there no way to open the full PNG, without any merging and deleting of masks, just the way X3 was doing it?Also, the only way to save a transparent PNG in X6 is to check "save only selected objects"? When I don't check this, but still check "transparency" in the PNG export dialogue, then the mask won't be saved nonetheless.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded from X3 to X4 and just noticed a Cropping and Re-sizing issue with X4. When I crop or re-size an image and then save it as a JPG, the size of the image prior to saving and the size displayed after saving and reopening are different. When I open the PRINT LAYOUT screen for the JPG, it confirms that the image was NOT re sized or cropped. It almost appears like there is an issue with the way X4 saves a JPG. When I perform the exact same cropping or re-sizing but save the image as a TIF, the problem does not happen. I also duplicated the cropping and re-sizing under X3, saved the image as a JPG and the problem did NOT happen.
By the way, when I worked with tech support, they could not duplicate the problem on their system but when they remotely accessed my computer, they saw the problem. The only difference seems to be that I have a PC with a 3.33 gigahertz Intel Core i7 X 980 processor.
Every time I crop a picture, the picture is automatically rotated to the left. This started to happen a few weeks ago.

(What I don't like about paint.net is the missing "show grid" option available in any zoomed size, but anyway back to my problem).
I'm making a product flyer (8.5 X11) for our store and we will pass them around the towns in my area. I will take pictures of the products with my camera and up load them into paint.net. The picture will need to be downsized to approx 1 X 2in, so dithering will be needed to get the same quality has the original. Now downsized, I will need get rid of the photo session backdrop, then create a new canvas of the flyer and paste them in without the background.
How to crop free hand? That is zoom in the picture and using the pencil option define the boarder of the wanted image, then define outside of it has transparent? Or any other method tom achieve the same results.
I have heard of .jpg files and lossy compression. My camera produces 2592x1728 pixel files. I notice that cropping an image and resizing it to fit 15cm x 10cm photo paper results in significant loss of definition. Should it make any difference saving to .png, for example, or is the damage already done because the camera creates a .jpg file instead of a lossless compression file?

View 3 Replies View RelatedElements 7. Without my opening, moving, renaming or otherwise molesting them, 2/3s of the photos in one of my two catalogs have suddenly gone missing. I have exhausted all the trouble shooting info I can find online and have tried the reconnecting procedures, optimized the catalog, repaired the catalog, rebuilt the thumbnails and uninstalled and reinstalled elements 7 all to no avail. The missing files, a mix of jpeg and nef totaling 272, are grouped in one block starting from the first photos I ever downloaded two years ago except for one which is a recent download. Elements 7 win xp 1G ram.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI thought that I would take a shot at a possible reason why cropping with the paper size dialog would give different results which appear to be random.
1. The dialog opens with the programmer assuming the user will make the paper size larger than the image. He takes the difference between the paper size’s lower right corner and the image’s lower right corner and subtracts the two. That’s a positive number since the paper size is larger than the image. It’s added to all pixel positions in the image which brings the image to the lower right corner of the paper.
2. Now consider what will happen if the paper size is smaller than the image.
Scenario 1: The user picks paper size before position. The difference between the lower right corners is now a negative number. Using negative numbers to reorder the image pixels will incorrectly display the upper right corner of the image in the canvas.
Scenario 2. The user picks position before paper size. The lower right corners of the image and paper are set equal. Reducing the paper size now leaves the lower right corner of the image to be displayed.
Thus the display of the corner of the image appears to be random. However, it’s following the orders given by the user. Without doubt, there are other possible scenarios for this behavior.
For some reason when I use the cropping tool the floating tool bar has blank icons on it. Sometimes there may be lines in them like they tried to load but most of the time they are just completely white.
They still work and everything but you have to run your mouse over them and wait for the box to pop-up thats says what it is to see which one you need.
when I am working on a large drawing and/or pasting as a block, all the grey lines (colour 8) turn to white. When I select a grey line, it flicks back to grey, but de-select, and it's white again.
If I toggle on hardware acceleration, the problem is fixed for a short while, and also if I turn it off, it is fixed for a short while, and also if I save, close and re-open it's good untill I paste a block....
I suspect it may be because of my setup and an un tested graphics card:

I am wondering about the text in my images. I am compiling images that end up 1000px across and will use them at 300dpi.
Is it better to put large text into the image whilst it's still large (2-3000px) and then resize down to 1000px or is it better to not subject the text to a resize by resizing the image first (down to the 1000px) and then pop the smaller text straight into the finished size image.
Which was will give sharper text (assuming a 2 point sharpen if resizing the text in a large image). I'll attach a sample image to show the kind of thing....
I learned to move over to PNG this week after reading that the JPG I had been using as 'standard' loses quality, looks like I was the last to find out.......
I need to prepare a very simple poster (one color for back ground and one for the font, no further editing at all) but it has to be around 50x50inch size which is big. I have never worked with such a large images before hence my question.
When I click 'new' and then set print size to 50x50 and 150ppi resolution the file size is around 250mb. Does it really have to be this big? It seems like my laptop cant handle files this big.
Is there some way around it? Vectors? Inscape?

Smart Photo Fix box was resizable, or barring that, if the box did not take up over 1/4 of my monitor!
This box obscures far too much of the image I am trying to correct! And it does not need to be this large based on its content!
I'm guessing that this is a super simple question, but evidently I'm not sharp enough to figure it out....I've imported a bitmap file [.tif] into PP, & it's MUCH larger than the letter-size canvas I'm using. So I'm wondering what the simple method is to fit that bitmap to the canvas. The thing that's driving me nuts is, I select this big bitmap [it's roughly 3300 px by 2800 px, FWIW], go into Image > Resample, & under "Image size" it's giving me 11.0 x 8.5! And why PP is saying that the image is already the same size as the canvas--well that's why I'm writing this post. Cause I don't know why.

I need to use Paint.NET in order to make use of Pyrochild's Outline Object. Using the Text tool, how can I centre the capital letter 'I' and the capital letter 'W' in the overall 210 millimetres width, for example? And how can I centre both in the 297 millimetres height?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been reporting this problem in PhotoPaint for many years now, and was hoping it might be fixed with the 64 bit implementation. Sadly, it still does not work. Certainly this cannot be such an impossible problem to resolve.
The last version when it worked was with release 12, which I kept around for quite a while until I switched to a new system. I have tried it on each release of PhotoPaint since then, and it has failed on X3, X4, X5 and now it still fails in X6.
It works with smaller images, but when the image is greater than some 3000 to 4000 pixels wide, the results are totally scrambled..
In a nutshell - I am a seamstress attempting to make a pattern. Well, I have made the pattern - drawn it out on a large sheet of paper. I have manually "cut" it into letter-sized parts and scanned those parts onto my computer (with hash marks so that the parts can be matched back up to make the larger whole pattern).
I have spent a lot of time redrawing the lines in paint.net so they are neat and clean and more even. But then I went to print them and sizing is totally messed up and I am just not able to get my brain around this sizing thing. I need to be able to send these files to customers so they can print them out, put them together and have a pattern.
So, in effect, I have a large image that I want to print in puzzle pieces but they must maintain their *real* *life-sized* size. I'm attaching one of the individual files. What I need to do to it to make it be 8.5" x 11".
I have rather large blueprint that is black and white. Their is some noise around some of the black lines / text / etc on the drawing that I want to get rid of as well as get rid of the white back round all together (which I am hoping will reduce the file size a bit).
How to best remove the white backround / remove the noise from this large drawing?

I have to import a set of png's from Photoshop to Edge Animate. The actual source file is a Photoshop psd but I cannot import the psd into Edge so I have to painstakingly export each layer as a png and there are over 40 layers. Is there a way to take a layered Photoshop file and turn those layers into transparent pngs so when they import to Edge or another app the layers would remain intact but just as png's?
View 2 Replies View RelatedW/ 6 & I think 7, in order to create a transparent png I would have to save the file (single layer PSD w/ transparancy) and open it up in Image Ready, or click on the image ready button to send the image over. Then I would have to select PNG and optimize it, and it would save the transparency.
If I would try to do this all within PS, the transparent areas are saved as white, so the image was not transparent.
Do I still have to do this w/ CS, or can you really save truley transparent pngs within Photoshop now?
I'd like to transition to .PNGs for my web graphics. I use a lot of transparent .GIFs for buttons and so forth. I know that .PNGs have transparency, but is there a way to do that in Photoshop with .PNGs?

So, what do I do? JPEG isn't transparent. GIF lowers the quality by 1000%.
My team and I have been having issues with generate image assets not saving png files correctly. Photoshop has been saving them with the png extension, but the file has a white background like a jpg. Has there been in recent updates that may be causing this?
