I have a unusual shape that I want to save so I can use in Word. I have filled the middle bit of the shape in white, and the rest of the shape outside is the checkboard (which indicates transparency). But when I save it as a jpeg, and paste into Word, the background is white, not transparent.
View 2 RepliesI just got 3.5.8 today and tried to save a PNG with transparency. It removed the transparency. I tested it with just load an image, save as..., ok. Reload -- no transparency.
I tried to reload 3.5.7, but it just gave me 3.5.8. Is there a place to download 3.5.7? I don't remember this problem earlier.
I think I've found a major issue with saving .PNG files that have partial transparency in PSPx4
Essentially any opacity isn't saved correctly, and is made far too transparent. So anything with partial transparency is saved incorrectly.
I first noticed this when I saved a file to PNG that had a drop shadow - and the shadow seemed to have not been saved. In fact it had but the transparency was now so much higher it was almost invisible. Looking closer, all partially transparent pixels are not saved correctly.
This issue isn't present on x2 and PSP 9 (two old versions I've got).
I've done a simple test. Create a new image, transparent background. Fill with a colour at 30% opacity. Save as PNG, save as PSPImage. Resulting PNG looks completely different to the PSP image.
See the below screenshot, and also the but saved as PNG in PSP 9 (to show this is fine).
I'm always saving to PNG and this makes PSPx4 useless to me I'm afraid. I've checked the save settings and it's the same as PSP9.

Problem: When I save jpeg files some of them become corrupt and will not open.
I have been using PSP for a number of years and decided to upgrade to X4, now a number of the files that I save in PSP are becoming corrupted and they seem to all be photos which are shot using a pure white background, not all photos are affected, I never had this problem in my previous versions of PSP
I use adobe lightroom which I transfer my raw file into jpeg, this is where i then open the jpeg in X4 and do my main editing, it is when I save the image it saves corrupted and can not be opened or deleted (shows that X4 is still using the file) . it will also not allow me to re transfer the image from my catalog.
There are some good features and I am considering uninstalling and reverting back to my older program (X2).
This may be an issue with the metadata of the image, I exported 2 sets of 50 identical images 50 with and 50 without the Metadata and ran a script which then automatically save the image, about 20 of the images with the metadata ended up corrupted, all the images without the metadata saved fine.

I have an image that I have created with transparency.
I turn off the background, and indicate "Preserve Transparency".
I then go to "Save to Web As" and select PNG24 with Transparency. Then Save.
When I go and view the file, the transparency is gone and a matte has been added.
Even when No Matte was indicated during saving process

When I save as .eps, I get the message "The document constrains artwork that requires flattening". So I select the image, Object > Flatten Transparency and it saves fine.
But now it's put a white background behind the image. I need the entire logo to be transparent.
I have a logo with a transparent object (trying to achieve a stamped/weathered look), transparency set at 80%. When I go to save as pdf, the object looks jagged and 100% (no transparency).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an old (as in OLD) version of Photoshop- Photoshop 7 that was a (uhm) gift from a friend, it's always worked 'well enough' for me in the past, but in the last few months I've been having issues saving something as a JPEG file.
The program will let me save it, but when I go back later to open the file, I will get an unwelcome pop up box announcing "Could not open _____ because an unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found" I finally started saving everything as a PSD or PNG file just so I could keep working, but I need to start converting all these files to JPEGs so I can keep working! Photoshop isn�t doing this all the time, but enough that if I start saving things a JPEGS I'll stop checking my files after a few times, and them WHAM- I have 6 or 7 files that I can't access anymore!
When Im using a pdf or a psd file, certain instances wont save as a jpg unless I follow the suggestion below.

This is usually when there are larger files being worked on, but it never used to do this before.if I do as the error says it works but it is in bad quality.

I.m trying to save some of my digital photos, which are .jpegs, in a .BMP format and at a high resolution, around 400-500 Dpi. I managed to change one of them, using Adobe PhotoDeluxe, and it came out at 118 MB. It's just what I wanted. But when I tried to do this a second time, I couldn't duplicate my actions. The second photo came out only at 3.8 Dpi.
I need the big files for work I'm doing in Paint Shop Pro. I have Adobe PhotoDeluxe HE 4.1 and PhotoShop 7, MGI Photo Suite, PrintShop and others.
Working in raw, I have made changes to exposurre etc. when I save to jpeg they go lighter. I have looked in the colour settings which are set the same as the camera at sRGB but not sure if I a missing something.
I have recently upgraded from CS4 to CS6, wasn't a problem in CS4, I have looked at the settings in both to try to get them the same but nothing is working.
I'm having trouble saving images as a JPEG. I've never seen this before, but when I scan an image or even create an image and try to save it as a JPEG so it's smaller and easier for others to view Photoshop freezes...kind of. All of the buttons become inaccessible and the image does not save. I can't even close Photoshop until I enter task manager and end it manually.

I recently edited a photo of mine in Photoshop CS5 and when I save it to JPEG format and open it, the color is completely different. I've searched the web but for me solutions hasn't worked such as using sRGB and changing the working spaces to adobe RGB (1998). Both of which hasn't worked.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI have a large psb file which is an image of 39k by 27k pixels at 48 bpp. The image size is about 5.7 GB. PS CS6 trial only gives me the option to save it as a TIFF or Photoshop RAW only. I would like to use this large image as a master copy from which I can sample lesser quality images for printing. How can I save such images as a JPG or BMP file, that is down sample it and place the result in a smaller jpg or bmp file?
I read some other similar discussions and they all concern problems with the plugins folder. I have not inserted any plugins from previous CS versions. The only plugins that I have in there are authorized CS6 plugins for the scanner fix from Adobe. Is it even possible to down sample from such a large image?
I'm working with Photoshop 7 on a pretty new PC, and I keep having trouble with saving JPEG files. Initially, I was able to save them just fine, but now they are saving as invalid files. The program is not crashing mid-save (unless it is crashing and recovering without me needing to re-open it). Other file types seem to be saving just fine, though PNG ones seem a little touchy.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to save a psd picture 125x500 picture. It is a simple gradient with nothing else in the picture. The psd saves with good quality. As soon as I save for web or even save as a jpeg or gif the quality is junky. Even with the jpeg file at maximum and not optiized there are chunky vertical lines. How can I fix this? The psd file is like 138k, but I can't save it more than 12k as a jpeg or gif.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi went from photoshop 6 to CS so i don't know if it's a CS problem. i've noticed that unless i use the "save for web" option, the regular save produces jpegs that are much larger than photoshop 6, using the same settings.
also is there a way to turn off color management completely? i can set the preference to not manage colors but it defaults to my monitor color profile and i don't want it period.

1. It comes with no manual so I'm no better off than with the company installed Photoshop 7 software from several years ago.
2. When I go to save a photo I have no option to save as a jpeg/jpg file.
When I try the Help tab, I eventually find that PSE 7 does supposedly save in jpeg/jpg format. If it does where the heck is that option in my save/save as menu?
1) I scan an image and its 300dpi. when i open it in ps its 72dpi. what's happening?
2) When i create a new document/clipboard etc to start working, i only have the option to go up to 8bit or 16 bit RGB... Can't it go any higher? does this affect item1?
3) if i try to drag an image into this 16bit window it tells me the target document has a different depth than source document and it will result in lower than expected quality..... how can i avoid all this?
4) Sometimes i can save my psd as jpeg and sometimes i cant... I dont get that option...what's going on?

I'm trying to save an image as a JPEG along with it's transparent background.
However, for some reason.... when I save it... no matter what I do (highest quality, no matte, etc), there is still a white background.
When I save it as a GIF, it kills the quality but has a transparent background...
I can have high quality but no transparent background or low quality or transparent background
Today I shot some more photos and was going to send them to a friend. After I resized them, I tried to save the new file as JPEG and there was no option to do so. I even opened one of yesterday's camera files and tried to save that as a JPEG, and still didn't see the option. All I get is something called .xcf.
I looked at the tutorial, and it said to make sure the mode was set to RGB. It was; I'd never changed this. It seems I've broken something, but I don't know where to look in order to fix it.
I am new to Illustrator. I have designed a new logo using Illustrator CS6 to the best of my knowledge. I now need to create business cards etc for printing but when I save it to jpeg it becomes very distorted after the file is uploaded to the printing site. View 14 Replies View Relatedi've been noticing that the program has seemed to run slower than it was a few months ago - taking longer to load up, buttons being unresponsive for a few seconds, etc. recently i noticed if i'm saving my psd file as a jpeg it will 'hang' for several seconds with the "ok" button greyed out. after several seconds it will turn blue but when i click it, it acts unresponsive but after a few more seconds it saves the document. but there's no click animation or whatever you might call it.

When I save an image as a jpeg from the "Save As" dropdown menu (NOT save for web) all of my paths are gone when the image is repoened.
