Photoshop :: Drawing Tablets

Mar 6, 2005

I was just wondering how many of you use tablets to do your photoshop work. I think I have come to the point where I could really use one to enhance my abilities. I did a search on here and came up with the Wacom name and I researched them a little bit and it looks like they have a great product. But I'm not really ready to pay 100 bucks for the smallest one. I'm looking more in the range of 40-50 bucks tops.

Photoshop :: Drawing Tablets

Aug 31, 2007

Can anyone recommend a drawing tablet. I'm on a budget. What do you considered the "best bang for your buck".

Are Wacom tablets better than Adesso Tablets?

I saw an Adesso 12 x 9 @ 149.00, but the Wacom that size costs twice as much. I was also recommended a Wacom Graphire 4. 6 x 8.

Photoshop :: Wacom And Other Tablets: Which To Get?

Jun 13, 2006

I'm thinking of getting one of these drawing tablets - but thought I'd ask you all about them.

Plenty of reviews in magazines, but I'd rather hear from people using them everyday.

Who here uses which tablet? What do you recommend?

NB I use a G5 Mac running OSX (10.4.6)

Photoshop :: Looking At Wacom Tablets...

Jul 25, 2005

I apologize if this is posted in the wrong forum, but it seems to apply to techniques, so...I'm looking at Wacom tablets and hoping to buy one soon. My primary use would be for digital painting in Photoshop and the 6x8 size seems to be about right. Can anyone make any suggestions about whether I should go with Intuos or Graphire? I'm leaning toward the Intuos3 6x8, but that can get a bit pricey, even with academic discounts.

So I guess I have two questions. a) Does the Graphire series have what it takes to allow high-quality digital painting? b) Is there some way to find tablets for a lower price (I qualify for most academic discounts)?

GIMP :: Pressure Sensitivity For Tablets?

Jun 9, 2013

I have a Digipro tablet that I'm trying to use with GIMP on Mac OS X. I cannot get the pressure sensitivity to work. I've tried:

1) Setting the Quartz Pen in Input Devices to Screen Mode (also Quartz eraser) so that it will detect the pen.

2) Creating a new dynamic and adjusting pressure settings. The pen is detected but pressure settings aren't applied. Preset pressure dynamics don't work, either.

3) Making sure the pen pressure is working; it works fine in photoshop.

Does GIMP 2.8 not support Digipro?

Photoshop :: Eraser Tools With Wacom Tablets?

Apr 22, 2013

Would like to add improvement to assit drawing in Photoshop

1. flipping wacom pen to pressure sensitive eraser  photoshop switch to eraser tools, but the top menu did not switch to eraser properties

* would like switching to eraser tip, top menu also change to eraser options together, when flipping back to pen's tip, photoshop auto switch back to previous tool options this implies current workflow would be drawing and erasing with toolbox or shortcut B, E together with wacom pen tip rather than quick switch to eraser side. (if you need to change eraser options)

2.  Photoshop CS5, CS6 for windows, while using wacom eraser tip to change Size or Hardness slide bars from the top, would remove the integer number inside the dialog, it causes a dialog would pop up with "An integer between 1 pixel and 5000 Pixels is  required. Closest value inserted."

Click OK and popup will disappear, Size/Hardness would be filled with correct selected number again,  it is troublesome, as size and hardness changes a lot while drawing. have to keep clicking OK on every changes.

(on screen opacity and flow slidebars works fine)   Same changes to Size/Hardness slide bar work with normal pen tips side, and if using pen tips alone, (not using eraser tip) it is wonderful with new brush size & color picker shortcut added from CS5

#2 has been tested in mac version photoshop CS4, both Size and Hardness slider works fine without problem.

#1 + #2 made me work with pen tip + hot keys B,E all the time,   eraser side is almost not in use,  except erasing with the same size & hardness from last used

Photoshop :: Double W00tage (Cams & Tablets)

May 11, 2004

I just got in my Kodak DX4530 5.0MP Camera and Wacom ARTZII 12"x12" graphics tablet (256 levels of pressure). They are both setup and working fine!

Luckily enough the Kodak Camera is an easy "plug in play", in that I can plug it in, turn it on, and WinXP automatically makes it a "removable storage" device. Go in, pull images off, open in PS:CS, good to go.

My question is, who here uses Graphics Tablets. I've been told by SO MANY people that though they are odd and hard to master, once you do you'll never want to go back to mouse. Where I'm sure that nothing could COMPLETELY replace the gool ol mouse, such a tool for tracing, and perfect replication of the handwriting and drawing must come rather useful at many times.

Who here uses a tablet? What kind is it, and what can you recommend for someone starting out with one? How durable are these overlays? I noticed the stylus was battery and cordless.

Paint.NET :: Drawing With Angles

Jan 7, 2014

1. Is there anyway to adjust the angles of lines outside of just using trial and error? For instance, I just the line tool and create a line - it tells me what angle the line is, and I have to move tiny little amounts to try and make the line a certain angle. Another example would be when you paste something and are rotating it, again, you have an angle value, but you just have to kind of eye it and get it close. So is there a way I can adjust these (using a field where I can type in the numbers I want for instance)?

2. I'm creating a line that isn't straight. Over the course of the line it deviates from 0 degrees to 5 degrees. Is there anything that I can use to create tick or hash marks along the line that would be right angles to the line at the portion they are located at?

Paint.NET :: Plugin For Tiles DRAWING?

May 18, 2011

I'm looking for a plugin that allows me to DRAW tiles. Not to generate tiles from an existing picture. This rules out plugins like those : [URL]

Such plugins usually work this way: When you draw, what you're drawing is automatically repeated X pixels away and Y pixels away from your cursor (you're drawing in several places at the same time, like you had several mice moving exactly the same way).

Paint.NET :: How To Add In PPT Drawing With Multiple Layers

Is there a way to add in a PPT drawing with multiple layers?

Right now when I highlight all of the item I can just add it in in one layer but the PPT image has multiple layers. Is there an add-on fir this or will I have to copy and add in to a new layer for each part of the image? I can do that but it is very time consuming and an add-on that can differentiate the many layers inthe image and paste into a new file would be great.

Paint Shop Pro :: Drawing Straight Lines?

Dec 28, 2011

About 10-12 years ago, I had a simple version of Corel Draw or some similar name. Then I got involved with Adobe products. But it is nearly impossible to draw simple straight lines with Adobe! The Corel program I used to have enabled a straight line to be drawn by clicking on one spot, then holding some button down (don't remember which) and clicking on another spot. Viola!
So my question is: "Is it simple to draw straight lines in Paint Shop Pro? If not, what program do I need to purchase.

Photoshop :: Slow Paint Brush Drawing In CS4 -

Aug 11, 2009

my brush drawing slowly.  I am retouching an 8x10" 300dpi 8 bit image and using a soft brush at 15% opacity.  It could take 5 or 10 seconds for the brush to finish drawing a 6 inch long soft line.  There is a delay and I cant do anything else till it finishes. I Have Photoshop CS4 running on Windows  XP on a 3 gig machine... with 4 gigs of RAM.  I am using 55% memory for the allocation with 20 histroy states and 4 for the cache. I have 1.6 Gigs of available memory and 37 gigs free in a separate scratch disk. I have a Radeon 9800 dual card with 125 megs onboard memory. Do I need to reset preferences because of something funny?  My system seerms to be fast enough...but I may need a new video card possibly...I dont have GL2 enabled because its grayed out.  My version of CS3 works fine.

Paint.NET :: Is Multi-colored Line Drawing Possible

Nov 13, 2013

I work on old radios, and jukeboxes. Remember Vacuum Tubes (Valves)? The schematics when I can get them are not very clear. I try and clean up areas of the schematic I am working on by redrawing the lines, and redoing the text. I try and do the lines in the colors of the wires.For example, If I wanted to draw a wire that was blue with a red stripe, it would look something like the attached image. It would have black outline, and the inside filled with 1 or 2 color (the diagonal strips would be nice, but I could live with straight lines).

If I wanted to draw a white line, it would have black outline, and the inside would be a solid color.Is there a way to accomplish this for the two types of lines that I need to draw?If not, looking for some plugin source code that I could adapt?

Paint.NET :: Select / Adjust Specific Drawing Object

Jul 11, 2012

The first thing I do with any new drawing tool is

1. Draw a square.

2. Select the square.

3. Begin tweaking the square's properties--stroke width and color, fill, pattern, etc.

So how do you select the object you just drew? All I'm seeing is 'select an area' tools, which of course won't work for adjusting a specific drawing object.

Corel PHOTO-PAINT X6 :: Cursor Not Aligning When Drawing A Line?

Dec 23, 2013

I had Corel Photo Paint v.9, have used it for years in addition to DRAW, but recently my computer died and I had to replace it.  I installed it on the new machine, which is running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit, but the line tool suddenly started acting nuts.  I would move the cursor to where I wanted to start the line and start the line with a mouse click.  The line would then dart half-way down the screen and would be nowhere near the cursor's cross hairs making it difficult to work on images.

So, I figured it was a compatibility issue so I bought Corel Technical Suite X6 and have installed it.  The line tool does exactly the same thing.  The position of the line is nowhere near the crosshairs of the cursor.  Is this a new "feature" or is this a bug?  If the former, how can I get it to work like I am accustomed to working (I have used DRAW and Photopaint since the mid 1990's, using version 5.0).  If the latter, how can I fix it?

Paint.NET :: Drawing Perfect Letter O - Placing Ellipse With The Circle

Jan 29, 2014

I'm making a logo for someone by hand-drawing a font I made up.  But because I was having trouble drawing a perfect letter 'O', I'm using the "Circle/Ellipse" tool to do it.  I drew an 'O' with that tool that's almost the right size... and I wanna draw another one just a little shorter... but I can't figure out how to place the completed new shape directly over the old one.

I don't know where to start the action with the tool!  The completed shape always ends up in the wrong place. How to get my finished shape to complete just where I want it to? (Re-sizing the shape won't work because that changes the thickness of the line I used for the letter 'O'.)

I need to darken the grey lines in a two color (grey & green) line drawing since they are hard to see.

One way is a fill but there maybe some quick method that proportionately darkens just the grey pixels while preserving the relative grey gradient between grey pixels.
