Maya 2012 x64 SP1 windows vista
I want maya to open with my custom shelf tab selected. Ever since I installed SP1 maya now opens with the last tab in the shelf which is DMM. Furthermore, if I install the physx plugin then Maya opens with that tab open. Can I set it so Maya always opens with the shelf tab I WANT?
I'm having a problem with Maya 2011. It does not open the Shelf Editor. All the other editors work fine.

View 9 Replies View RelatedEvery so often some Tabs will disappear from my Shelf. I only notice the Polygon and Surfaces Tabs missing, as they are the ones I use most often. When I restart Maya, my Polygon and Surfaces tabs return. But after setting up my Project and re-opening my scene, the Tabs disappear again, and my custom Tab is also empty too. I have read that deleting preference files will return my shelves. But honestly, this is always happening too me, why are my shelves disappearing seemingly randomly, in various projects.
Is there a way to just add the Polygon and Surfaces shelves again?
my buttons in my custom shelf disappears when I restart maya. maya has admin privileges and the prefs folder in my documents is not read only and my user account has the privilege to access/write this folder. I'v tried renaming my prefs folder so that maya creates a new pref folder when it starts. that way the shelf works but in that way my other settings are lost.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem in 2011 and 2012 on 2 different machines, but haven't seen it on the bug list, and have seen a post saying the hotkey combo for 'add menu item to shelf' is the same it's always been - Ctrl-Shift-Alt, then selecting menu item.
But when I press that, the menu item executes, but no shelf button appears.
I use this combo - a lot- to make custom shelves per project or need. Frustrated it no longer seems to work.
I have Maya 2012 Creation Suite x64 on Windows7, and just installed Hotfix 2.
PhysX has now disappeared, no plugin reference or shelf.
I've tried loading physx.mll manually, but reports missing procedures.
Also tried setting MAYA_PLUGIN_PATH to the nVidia Maya plugin directory, no luck.
What am I missing, and what did Hotfix 2 do?
About 1 in 3 times I start up Maya 2012, some of the shelves are either missing or are empty. For example, sometimes the "Polygons" shelf is completely missing, or else it is there but its contents are empty. If I close Maya and restart it, then they shelves will load up fine. Is there any fix to this?
I delete my preferences and start with new ones. This is a very fresh install, and I also had this problem with a previous install of 2012. And it does load up correctly sometimes so the preferences should be correct...right?
Is there any way to have Photoshop CS5 automatically open files at startup? I have 3 files that I use as "templates", and it would be nice if they launched along with the program.

My rig is so complex that going in and deleting one by one seems like a crazy process but if there was a way to get the outliner to show only ik_handles and or constrain nodes then I could just select them and delete them and this would save me a lot of time.
I've had a simple lisp I've been using for years that suddenly disappeared. It required that you identify a block name, tag name, and the value that you want the tag to be. All of this is performed via command line, so it is scriptable. Since I lost it, I've been experimenting with -attedit. This command comes frustratingly close to what I'm looking for, except it only appends an existing tag, or replaces a specific string within the tag; I can't get it to replace the entire tag, regardless of its value.

I recently installed a student version of Maya 2012 on my home computer so I didn’t have to work from college for a project, but I have run into some issues.
Not sure what is going on with my Maya but it won't open files unless I actually go to it in the browser and double click on the file. Even once I have done that I can only save over it, save as doesn't work. I also can't create or set projects. There are probably more problems but these are the ones I noticed/really need.
This is what appears in my output window:

Problem1. I configure a template, give it a name and save it as a dwt.When I open a new drawing using the SAME dwt, all the customization is gone.
Problem2. When I open a dwg within Autocad or by double clicking the dwg file on explorer, is there away to open with the specific template ?

Re-started lightroom and my computer it doesn't go away.
There's a specific file I can't open. I've worked on it previously, but a week later, and it won't open. All of my other PS CS6 files are intact, and will open immediately. However, this one file takes so long to load (2+ hours) that I end up restarting my computer in order to work on all of my other things. The size isn't the issue, either; it's only 70 megabytes, as opposed to some of my more heavy-duty files that run upwards 200 megabytes.
I'm thinking about opening it on another computer to see what happens, but I'm concerned about the fact that I can't open this particular file. I'm not sure if it's corrupted, based on the fact that it just sits on my computer and just tells me that it's loading.
Is there something I can do to make it open, or modify the file? I've already tried defragging my computer and other things, and I'm at a loss here. I really don't want to start working on this from scratch .
In Word and Excel it's possible under Preferences to point to a specific folder for both saving and opening files. Is this possible under Photoshop to do the same as it's taking me ages to find the correct file when wanting to open/alter/save multiple images.

I was wondering if there was a way to make it open a drawing you might be working on. Then you always wouldn't have to click so many times to open it and find the folder it was in and so on. You start AutoCAD and there it is when AutoCAD starts. You can get right to work and not have to look for it.
Like that PSE 11 Organizer opens with a specific file, like it did with PSE 9, 6 etc.

Let's say I'm using the 'Paintbrush, Opacity 70%, Hardness 075, Size 4.00' as my "standard outline tool". But for some reason, when I click on Project Window, it does absolutely nothing. The window does not pop up.

Not sure if the following would be the reasons: Recently I have tried to open files related the Maya sample file (tutorial disk)but I can't open it directly from the CD. I noticed that there might be some tricks that I have to same the file as an ASCI file and the open in Wordpad, then I could successfully open that. So I try to copy the Tutorial files in the CD to my Harddrive. When I open that from Wordpad, it works!. I am not sure if that could be the causes of my proble (ie. Plane/Grid disappear), or I might have done something which I am not aware of? Also, those axis arrows seems so long and I need to adjust that (I mean the arrows extend outside the Plane/Grid).
