Lightroom :: Preview Not Available / Supported By This Camera
Dec 25, 2013
I have been using Lightroom 3 with a Canon 60d but cannot import/preview RAW files from a new 70D. When attempting to import the messages are "preview not available/supported by this camera".
I am relatively new to Lightroom. I have imported Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 raw (.RW2) files into Lightroom 5.3. When I go into the Develop module under the Camera Calibration the only profile that shows up is Adobe Standard. My camera is supported according to the Adobe web site.
LR has stopped importing my Nikon d600 raw files, first says no preview available then when I click import it says not supported. I have upgraded to ver 4.4 but still have the same problem.
I am using Photoshop Elements 11, using WIndows 7 Operating System. I have a new camera Canon Rebel T5i, and having problem viewing images in raw format (cr2).Message in PE11, states, "Camera model not supported by installed version of Camera raw."
Canon software views images. Suspect my minimum camera raw plug in version does not support this new camera..I am unable to locate in the software any menu item that allows me to view the camera raw plug in version.
I have gotten a request from the animation department that they would like to be able to create previews that are watchable from a web-browser directly from 3ds Max, specifically through a HTML5 Video tag - is it possible to get Max to support .mp4 or .webm from the Make Preview menu?
I've used CS5Extended and ACR for NEF images. I just switched to more recent PC, downloading PS, and it won't open NEF files, saying "camera model not supported by installed version of Camera Raw." It had no problem with my D800 on the previous PC. What do do?
I just reinstalled PSE12 and LR5 and cannot open raw files in PSE12. The error message says my camera is not supported. Im using a Canon 70D, my raw format is CR2, and Elements tells my my Camera Raw plug-in is Version 8.
I recently bought a Nikon D7100. I took some test shots and imported the images to Lightroom 4.4, then generated 1:1 previews for all the images.
Previews zoomed to 1:1 in Library Mode are noticeably soft. The image below is a screen shot of the Library preview:
Moving to Develop View produces a higher-resolution 1:1 preview. The image below is a screen shot of the Develop preview:
Look at the bricks and window screens to see the difference.
This difference occurs immediately after import (with a User Preset applied during import). Once any Develop work is done, the Library preview updates and displays at full resolution.
This problem makes doing initial editing/selection of images time consuming, because I can't determine the sharpness/quality of imported images until I've done some kind of Develop adjustment on each image.
I am using MacBook (late 2008) OS X 10.9.2 and recently upgraded to Lightroom 5.3 from Lightroom 4. After a while, some photo started to show exclamation mark at the right hand corner of the photo (*.CR2 raw files in NAS) in grid view. When I click on the exclamation mark, it shows a dialog with following message; "Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo". So, I moved previews.lrdata, which is about 9GB, to the trash and restarted the Lightroom 5, expecting Lightroom 5 to create a new previews.lrdata. However, it won't create any preview at all.

I just upgraded to LR 5 mainly because it su[pports videos in slideshows; however in the import dialog box, videos do not show as "supported files". These are AVI files from my camera.
The GX7 is scheduled to come out at the end of September, and it sounds like MFT is finally getting it just right. I have several Panasonic and Pansonic/Leica lenses I use with the GF1 and have ordered the GX7, but when will I be able to work on its RAW files in LR and ACR? How long does it take to get a camera into an RC version?
I can't seem to find a way to export to Flickr - is this supported in LR4?
Running on OS X Lion
Plugin Manager shows the Flickr plugin as "installed and running'. The status is enabled.
When i click on "Export" in the Library section, I get the Export dialogue. At the top is the "Export to" drop down. The items in the drop down are "Email, Hard Drive, and DVD. and Adobe Revel", but there's nothing about Flickr (or Facebook).
I have been using LR for several years and suddenly today it's saying that the raw file isn't supported. I've never had that problem before. I can see the image thumbnails on the import screen when I"m setting up the subfolder I want to save it to, but then during the import I get this message. I thought maybe I needed to update my software, but it says it is up-to-date.
I'm about to upgrade Lightroom as my version is 2. I've been late in trying to buy version 4, which supported video catalogues and did minor adjustments. Looking through version 5 manual, I've not seen any reference to videos.
My Lens(es) are supported according to the official list. But current version of LR (5.3) is not showing my lens for selection. Also for some of my other lenses, where I think I could slelct the right profile in the past, I cannot select it currently.
My (new) lens I want to use is Tamrom 70-200 f/2.8 VC (A009E). The only Tamron lens I can choose is Di 28-75. Also my selections for Canon lenses are fewer than in the past, my 15-85 EF-S is missing now also.
Is D7100 supported for tethered shooting? I can't get mine to work. It's quite essential tool for studio photography.Everything is working fine with my D7000, but as soon as i change to D7100 'No Camera Detected' is all I get.
All necessary services are running and troubleshooting is done by Adobe instructions found for LR 4.3. Yes, the raw's import fine from D7100 via 'Import Photos and Video...' dialog. Lightroom version is 4.4. Computer running on Win 7 64bit.
So is the D7100 support only support for it's NEF's and not for tethered shooting?
I started to get problems with Lightroom not recognizing RAW files from my Fuji XE-1 and Canon 5D Mark 3 cameras but I thought it was a problem with RC. After downloading some files today in 4.4 without a problem I encountered the same error message (unable to inport listed RAW files) again. The files open fine in Bridge.
I have been evalutating LR4 and am stuck on how to import my files from another DAM into LR4.
I am able to write XMP into JPG files, and provide sidecar XMP files for RAW (CR2) and MOV/MP4/MTS files, writing my hierarchical keyword information into the xmp-dc:Subject and xmp-lr:HierarchicalSubject fields.
LR4 seems to read the XMP keywords from the JPG and RAW files just fine and re-creates my keyword hierarchy.
LR4 seems to ignore on import the XMP for the non-image files such as the MOV/MP4/MTS files for which I have provided sidecar files.
LR4 also does not write out XMP files for the non-image files, when I use save Medatada.
Does LR4 just ignore import/writing XMP for these non-image files?
I downloaded all of the updates that I thought were necessary to be able to edit D600 raw files but they are still coming up as "Preview unavailable for this file" and saying it's not supported.
I'm an amateur moving up to LR 3 and have been trying to learn this program by reading the LR3 book by Scott Kelby. He shows that the Camera Calibration feature has some settings for specific cameras yet the drop down menu has none listed. I've upgraded to 3.6 and the images were copied from raw to DNG.
My sigma 18-250 macro canon mount lens is supported by Lightroom 5, but when I go to the lens correction profile list, it is not listed in my lightroom software program. I show a 18-200, but not my 18 - 250 macro.
Just downloaded LR 5 and noticed that I cannot jump back from a Publish Service folder preview to a different folder preview in grid mode. The only way to view photos in another folder is to restart LR 5. This only happens when I am viewing photos in a Publish Service such as Flickr.
I updated from LR 4 using Creative Cloud installer.
I'm running Lightroom 3.6 on Windows XP. My laptop crashed and I had to re-install Lightroom. When I try to import my photos, I'm receiving "Preview is not available for this file".
Lightroom was working perfectly before the crash and I don't quite understand what happened during the install process.
When connecting my Sony A77 to the computer in order to import photos to Lightroom 3.5 I am not able to doubleclick on the tumbnail to show preview of the thumbnails. The thumbnails are showing, but it seems to be very low resolution, and when doubleclicking on a thumbnail the message "could not read preview" is displayed. If I remove the memory card from the camera and put the memory card into the cardreader on my laptop I can view high resolution thumbnails, and also get previews.
I'm a new LR5 user,When you create a new LR Catalog (whether images are stored local or on a NAS) LR also creates a '...Previews.lrdata' file. I think for storing the previews of the images in the corresponding Catalog file for fast(er) searching in Library mode. But when you open that catalog (and in Library mode) it looks/seems like LR is not using these previews at all. Sometimes it can take a lot of time when LR has updated (?) all image previews, especially when the originals are stored on a NAS. It looks like LR is rebuilding all previews.
Is this common, or is it some setting in LR to use or rebuild the (previously) generated previews. And does creating Smart Previews have any effect on this?
