I'm wanting to create a photobook of the last few years and need to order my photos by the date I took them. I am looking at all my photos in the Libaray but they are not in order of the date I took them. I presume it's under Library filters somewhere but I can't find it. I've checked date under attribute but they're not right.
View 2 RepliesWhy does the capture date in the metadata panel not match the capture date seen in the grid extra view and how do I fix it? The images that I have in my library are digitized negatives and I've corrected the capture dates and times to be accurate; however, the capture date and in the metadata window shows what I've changed it to and the date in both the grid extra view and the Metadata>Edit Capture Time... options both reflect the date the image was last modified. Not all of the images in my library are this way and some show the correct information. When sorted by Capture Time, all images fall exactly where they should in the proper order (based on the changed, corrected edit time and not the modified date). I saved metadata to the file with the new date but it didn't fix it.

Now I would like to put the photo's in a folder structure based on the capture date (as all my other photo's are). How is it best to do this?

However I just had several thousand old printed photographs scanned.
I have:
1. Imported the photographs into a seperate new catalog2. Labeled all the photographs with keywords
3. Metadata->Edit Capture Time so that the capture time is now the correct date
Now I would like to reorganize the photo's into folders by date the usaual yyyy/yyyy-mm/yyyy-mm-dd by the capture time date.
I have tried to import them into another catalog either by either "Import Photo's and Video" or by "Import from another catalog" either way the new catalog has the folders by date that the photographs were scanned not by the capture time that I changed.
How do I do this change the folders to be by capture date?
I have shots from a trip done with two different cameras, however the time stamps are different by one day and one hour. I would like to globally change the creation date and time on one of the cameras in the Metadata, or perhaps change one and sync with the others.

I have two Canon SLR's shooting in RAW and one Canon point an shoot shooting in JPG and want to collate the photos in LR4, which I was able to do up to now. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a number of older pictures in my library that don't have Capture Date in the metadata. Windows Explorer Propoerties typically shows info like this, for these files:
Created: Tues, Mar 11, 2009 <time>
Modified: Wed, June 12, 2002 <time>
Accessed: Thu, Sept, 13, 2006 < time>
In my experience, PSE assumes the "Modified" date as capture date with files like this. (A good assumption, for these pics Im looking at now.)
From what I can tell, LR also uses the "modified" date when sorting these pictures' thumbnails. And when I do Metadata > Edit Capture Date, it shows the Modified date as the Original (all good so far).
BUT, in Grid View of the Library module, I have View Options set to show capture date in the Bottom Labal, and here it shows the "Created" date. (So it like 2009 pictures are getting placed next to 2002 pics, in what's supposed to be a chronoligical sort.)
Scanning old photographs, with multiple photos in each scanned image. I've created a virtual copy for each individual photograph and then crop appropriately. However, photographs have different dates and I want to be able to sort them chronolgically. Ideally I'd set the Capture Time on each virtual copy and use that as the Sort order, but LR doesn't separate images co-joined in a Virtual set, so to speak. It seems like it looks at the Capture Time of the Master copy of a virtual set.
The only way I can see how to do this is to export, re-import into a different catalogue, and then apply Capture Time metadata. This is quite a cumbersome workaround. I'd like to do this all in the same catalogue...also exporting / importing re-compresses the image and would like to avoid that.

I am updating capture time based on GPS Time (a bit OCD, I know) but when I change Capture Time the Date Time Digitized value does not change. This in in LR 4.3 and is not affected by whether on not the Catalog is set to 'Write date or time changes into proprietary raw files'.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got some 500 photos in a folder which were imported on two different dates. I've created a new album on the right hand side under "Organize" and just the photos I want are in there. When I look at the folder on the right, all the pictures are there. But I can't call up just that folder; instead what I get on my screen is all 2500 photos in all my photo albums! Not what I want! What I want to get is all the photos in the order in which they were taken on the actual day as all 500 photos were taken at the same day. And I want to be able to view just the 500 photos in that folder by the time those pictures were taken. But, when I imported the second batch of photos it showed the date the file was created rather than the date the photo was taken so, basically, I've got one batch of photos showing the date they were taken (which I downloaded via a link a few days later), and one showing the date they were copied!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently set up Elements 12. Prior to this I used elements 11. In that catalog I have more photos that I don't want. So I decided to export the ones I want then import into PSE 12. As I do this many of the dates on the pictures change from the date taken to the current date. I have tried several different ways and can't stop the dates changing. I am putting them into mobile albums in PSE 12 if that makes a difference.

1 - All the same size photo's ready to be printed or put in an album.
2 - How can I make sure the order in which I see them in the library smart collection is burnt in the same order onto a disc, as I have burnt from library and they are all out of order of the wedding event when looked at on the disc !!
my photo's are in numbered order in the library but when burned to disc are all random, they have been edited from 3 cards and saved as a smart colllection, how can I get them to burn in order as library shows them !

View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there a procedural way to download my photos to LR3 instead of Image Capture on my iMAC? I had Apple Store Geniuses fix the Safe Mode problem (which i posted in a different thread) so when I got home and tried to download my photos from the CF card reader it showed up in the Image Capture screen but not in LR3. I had the CF card reader attached to the computer's USB port before turning on the computer.
Should I have turned on the computer first and then open LR3 before connecting the card reader? My guess is that because LR3 was not opened first, the downloading went somewhere else.

Can I add the time and date to a capture it is on my camera and will only show if I was to print but not when I send by e-mail. I have a FujiS5Pro and use Elements 7 the pictures taken will go to UK Courts and used as evidence in our Legal system.

I just changed the dates on 2 of my photos and noticed that the 2 pictures do not re-order themselves in the correct date sequence.
The 2 photos are dated Oct 14, 1983. However they appear between my Oct 16 and Oct 15 photos. I have other photos dated Oct 14 that do correctly appear before the Oct 15 photos.
Why would these 2 photos be separated from the other Oct 14 photos?
I am trying to automate the sorting and movement of older photos into my preferred directory arrangement of capture year/day shown here:

This would be very tedious to do manually. My next idea is to re-import them with MOVE option, but I would lose all the editing. Is there any way to re-import these while preserving the edit steps?
Has it become a possible option to automatically grab the Date-of-shoot (instead of the DAYToday) when renaming files (that should show shooting- date) in LR5?
