View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a Blurb book using LR4.2. I'm running into problems laying out the dust jacket. All my pages are full bleed but I don't know the full bleed pixel dimensions are for the dust jacket (standard landscape 10" x 8"). I'm using the layout where one image covers all of the flaps, covers and spine. I would need the pixel height plus the pixel widths for the flaps, covers, and spine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working with a photographer who uses lightroom. I am not familiar with lightroom but I use CS6 InDesign and Photoshop for these types of projects (brochures, postcards, fliers) The problem is I'm used to photographers sending me highres jpegs at 300dpi around 2.5 - 4MB that retain great quality, but this particular photographer is sending me files out of Lightroom that are average of 6-11mb. Taking about 6 hours to download. He is exporting the files as jpegs at 300dpi, 8x12. He swears that the photo will lose quality if he makes it smaller o nfile size. make the file sizes smaller in mb while still retaining quality? He also uses photoshop extended.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm a newbie trying to create a collage of photos in Lightroom 4 on Windows 8. I've done lots of Lynda.com videos and other tutorials online but am having a problem with the Print module. I can drag my photos onto the print page and resize them without issue, but what I want to do is effectively crop a certain part of the photo to the container size, but only within this print page (I don't want the photo in my library to be cropped).
I hit the Ctrl button and the little hand icon appears (as do the little squares on the edges of the photo for changing the size) but when I drag with the Ctrl button held down, nothing happens - I was expecting the photo to move within the container but it's not. What I'm trying to do is exactly the same thing done (by holding Ctrl) in this video at 1min 11secs: [URL]
how to export my images to a file on my computer in JPEG in a high quality for printing large prints? I have done several to e-mails and facebook. But struggling to figure out how to do it correctly for prints. I would like to submit them to a photo lab, but I am afraid I don't have the correct settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI printed a few photos with the print function in lightroom 3 (print button). A few hours later, i reopened LR to print some more photos, and now the print button has been replaced with print to file. Print one button is all greyed out aswell.
Also, LR is adding unwanted margins to all photos in the print module, and when i try to 0 out the margin, LR tells me it needs a minimum margin...
All printer settings is as it was before.
What has happened?
I have been around all preferences and so on, but nothing changes.
I have found that if I straighten a photo in Lightroom and then export it, it will not print correctly. The photo will print with the edges of the photo not straight with the borders of the paper. The angle the photo is printed askew is the same angle that I used to straighten the photo.
This is only apparent on prints with borders, but I assume it is happening on borderless prints as well.
I know that PSE 11 has a template that allows you to prepare a picture directly onto a CD od DVD. The templates are much too complicated for what I need. How do I get to place just one picture & move it a little if necessary?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis isn't new or original, so I know there's got to be a better way to streamline it. Me and my team are going to be at an event, and we're going to take lots of photos. We want a way to very quickly apply a template around these photos. In this case, we're making it look as if the photos are the front page of a newspaper.
I'm speaking to one of my company's designers, and he seems to think we would have to do this manually in Photoshop 1 by 1, but I know there has to be a better way. There are tons of iPhone (etc) apps to apply templates/skins to photos.
What's the easiest solution to my problem?
I need to use a template photo and onto that one add two more photos, by adding two more layers.
Then I need to delete the original (background) one, which would be the template.
However when I delete it, the entire picture gets deleted, i.e. also the photos I pasted on top of it.
How can I avoid that?
Additional information:
Very strangely when adding a new layer, though in the layer screen it shows that I am adding them,
when I paste the first photo onto the background, it then becomes the background image, rather than layer number 2.
In LR4 print module the print and print one tabs are greyed out and I can't reset.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use a MacBook Pro to print to an Epson 9800 roll printer. All of a sudden, the Epson is laying down huge quantities of ink, especially when I print onto film (for screen printing). It puts down so much ink, the ink dribbles down the film and drips off the printer, pooling on the floor, until I leap up and cancel the job. What's more, the printer is printing a light-colored background to images that had no background to begin with.
Here's the catch: *this only happens in Photoshop.* (I'm using CS 5.1.) If I take the same image file, place it in Illustrator, and print it, it comes out just fine. So the problem lies in Photoshop's print options.
warping an image. I want to take a series of CD's and make them look like they are sort of tilted, and lying flatish.
What I am trying to do can be seen in the image I posted called Example.jpg... what I have right now is in the file called cds.jpg.
I can create the 3-d box, no problem, but how would I lay the cd's in a tilted fashion?
I tried all the warp tools, but they don't seem to work to get the job done. I'm sure it must be user error!
I tried perspective, and used Shift and dragged in the bottoms... but I made a royal mess of it.
How should I approach the image? Should I fan the Cd's out in a semi-circle first also?
And should I group this into a smart object first?
I was wondering whether it is possible and quite easy to create a necklace laying down on a white surface.
It concerns a Yin-Yang necklace and I would like to create it like it is laying down on a white table or so (so a kinda inclined view). And you should only see it laying down because of the shadow or so.
I have seen this done before, but my text always comes out skewed and crappy looking. Basically, I have a cell where the background image is repeated so that it look like a solid image. I try to make a new image in photoshop with a transparent background. I type in some text, and apply "smooth" to it. Whatever format I save it in though, it looks like crap when I place it in the cell! Is there some step I am missing?

When first using the Eraser it laid down white pixels. Now it is laying down Black pixels instead? I must have adjusted something to cause this ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI wanted to create an A4 borderless print in my canon mg6150 from within the print module. I can do a borderless print using the canon easyprint.
I go into page setup and the properties of my printer and set the page layout to borderless and click OK.
However, I am unable to set the margins to zero. When I go back into my page setup and check the page layout, it has reverted to normal so it has ignored my setting.
All was working OK and the printer is showing ink cartridges almost full In the Library Module the print review is fine.
Switch to Print Module and the print review is now blank (100% white)

I have just bought and installed Lightroom 5 and need to set my print size to A3 and in the future even bigger. I do not have the facility at home and need to have them sized correctly for the print shop so they do not have to waste time resizing them. I am at a loss how to do this. I cant find any settings for this size print. A3 is roughly 42 x 29.7 cm.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to ADD (almost) white Border around photo(s) to print in print module (not for creating a JPEG) WITHOUT TRIMMING the photo?
I dont understand why I'm so stupid not to be able to acheeve this simple task with Lightroom WITHOUT TRIMMING the image (altering it's proportion and cutting away photo-content)
(on light-gray backgrownd for instance, to use as cutting indications. I know how to use cutting-indications for images i print without a border)
(i do not whant to use workarounds, the kind of preparing "identity plates", a new one each for infinite variations of proportions to use as fullblown-up backgrounds..)
How do I get my photos printed? I select a photo but I get the maessage that no photo was selected.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some geotextile sheets of specific dimensions (that's 45mx5m) and a surface (not a regular one) with grades ranging from 3.5% up to 34%.I would like to "fit" those sheets on the surface (which should overlap one another by .30m (see attached image)) but not project them, (that's why I don't believe "drape" is the proper word).
Meaning that since the 45m dimension is facing up/down slope, the length should be less in projection (see attached image) and that should be calculated automatically since the surface is a very irregular on (not like the attached dwg which is included as an example).
Laying out multiple clips to tape from smoke 2013 (maybe in excess of 20 - 30 clips at one time) without having to 'ctrl/click' on each clip individually. In every previous edition of smoke I would be able to go to media library, highlight the folder with all the clips in and press 'output' and all clips would be taken to I/O menu. This is a must for multiple playouts to tape which some of us still have to do on a regular basis. AND don't get me started on having to re-timecode every clip individually because someone thought it a good idea to remove the 'step' (increment) timecode button.
And why if i use smoke2013 without the mac menu at the top do I not have an 'Output to' or 'Capture from' VTR menu.
