Lightroom :: View The Pictures That Are Not Used In A Collection
May 4, 2013Upon importing pictures into Lightroom, I create a collection and put the images I want to keep in the collection. This still leaves me with images within my original folder. Is there a way I can view the pictures that are not used in a collection but still in the folder so I can delete them?

Jul 1, 2012A feature I loved in LR1-2-3 was the fact the flags were local for collections. It was a bit disturbing at first, but in the end it was very useful.When I make a new collection, for example to publish photos on my website, I select the photos I want, and I have to many of them. So, I used the local flags to decide: do I want to keep this photo inside this particular collection.
No that all flags are global, I can't do this anymore and I lose a lot of time when I have to choose which photos to keep in a collection. I understand that some users found the local flags confusing but there seems to be no workaround for people like me who loved this feature. In my opinion, there should be an option to set "use local flags in collection", this option being unset at the first launch.
Without the local flags, how can I select photos easily inside a collection? (I already use gloabl flags to select photos I keep, and colors to mark the workflow progression)

Dec 11, 2012I have not yet purchased adobe photo software. Which version is the simplest to accomplish what I want to do and is it simple? Or do I even need photo software. I have digitized my 50 years of slides. They are in large folders on the computer. Each folder is labelled only with a time period. Each image was corrected via MS Photo Gallery and then tagged or labelled with who or what, where and when.
How can I best send them out to the children to view on their computers but with a way for them to select and view only the ones they are interested in out of the thousands. Like " Diana" or "Grand Canyon 2010". We are 75 and not very computer literate yet. We have done this once now and want to take the next step to make it a user friendly resource for our kids and grandchildren

Customer would be able to select, from the web gallery their favorites.
The service /plugin should be able to then, send me some sort of information that would allow me to automate the creation of another Collection only with their picks in LighRoom 4.

Nov 3, 2013I watched a tutorial about how to make smart collections using keywords.I spent a couple hours selecting the photos (using the paint can, good tip) and giving about 700 photos the keyword "use". Then I went to make a smart collection and discovered that it only allows you "any text field" with no reference to keywords. Many photos in my huge collection have the letters "use" in their titles.So is there no way to select keywords as a basis for smart collections????

Aug 7, 2013There are some pictures from a friends wedding in lightroom who are missing/ offline. The problem is that the pictures aren't on my computer or memory card anymore and I already tried a data recovery with Disk Drill. Unfortunately the pictures (documents) which have been found by Disk Drill, are damaged and can't be opened. So the pictures are really gone.
But now I was looking in Lightroom (i've uploaded the pictures with Lightroom in the first place) and I see that the thumbnails are from a reasonable quality. That's why I am wondering if it's possible to larger the thumbnails without losing quality/ pixels. Of course I already tried a few things (SmillaEnlarger & some things in Photoshop), but unfortunately the pictures are still very bad.
Or is there any other way to get this pictures back? I still got the catalogus from Lightroom where the pictures where.

Also, I need to get this thing to a cnc mill, and they keep asking me for 2d drawings, dimensions, and tolerances. I assumed the 3d file would be good enough. How to make a file ready for a cnc, and how to make 2d drawings without putting 600 measurements all over the image? Every time I try to do a 2d object, the whole thing is a mess.
