SInce I upgraded from Lightroom 4.3 to version 5.0 I and having problems when saving files to my computer. The anomaly is that it isn't all the time. The files are being saved with a .conflict extension. when exported from Lightroom. - For example tornado.conflict1 when i name the file tornado.

I have Lightroom 3 and am trying to import files (RAW) from my ext. HD. The photos were taken on a Nikon D5100. According to the Adobe website, my camera is supported. But everytime I try, it says this camera is NOT supported.

if I run this same extension in CS6 everything works fine.
I save a photo that I've edited in photoshop cs5, either jpeg or tiff, and when I go to Lightroom 3.6 I can not locate the file. It shows up in bridge under the right location. I reinstalled both Lightroom and photoshop and no change.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from CS5 to CS6 when it was released. A couple of weeks ago I uninstalled both CS5 and an old version of Photoshop Elements v7 that had been on my machine.
Even though I use CS6 I just noticed that when I look for or open a PSD file from CS6 that my PSD files are defined in the "Type" column as follows "PhotoshopElements.PSDFile.7"
I no longer have Elements 7 on my machine and I'm concerned that there might be an artifact from that old app that is being used by CS6 instead of current versions of PSD.
How to confirm I am using only current CS6 PSD conversions?
Environment: Windows 7, CS6, Lightroom 4.
A while ago I edited some dng´s in Lightroom and saved the metadata to the files. Now I need to do some changes and the dng´s look just like the RAW files (unedited). Where do I find the metadata that was saved to the dng files?

my choices are to go to cs4 (rather not) or use dng converter and use cs3 or go to lightroom 2.
My question is that since lightroom 2 uses raw 5x and cs3 4x, will I cause a mess in my computer? I did install the trial cs4 and found that it altered cs3 on me. I was told this wouldn't happen but there are some common files (the raw being one of them) and I actually had to wipe my system and reinstall everything.
I'm working on image in a collection that I created. I give image 4 stars and a color when I'm done working on them in the Development module.After opening the Preset and using some of them, as soon as I was giving a star rating to an image, I was automatically brought to the next image - which is not the normal behavior of Lightroom.So, I close the Presets "module" and re-clicked my Collection and then it stopped. It's hard to re-create a problem like this. But this is the only thing I've done differently and I've been retouching over 500 images without encountering this problem before.I'm working with the latest Lightroom 5 version.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am new to Lightroom and evalutating 3.6 on a trial.I performed the following test:
1. Imported 3 pictures into Lightroom from my hard drive
2. In Lightroom, I made a keyword change to one photo (removed a keyword).
3. All three photos' Metadata icon show the arrow, indicating that there has been a change. (I only changed the keyword on one photo.)
4. I click the icon for the photo whose keyword I changed.
5. I get the message "The metadata for this photo has been changed in Lightroom. Save the changes to disk?"
6. I click "Yes".
7. The photo's Metadata icon shows an exclamation point. When you hover over the exclamation point, it shows the message "Sidecar has conflict".
I have two questions:
1. My expectation is that when I changed a keyword, or any other metadata, in LR, it will show up on the photo outside of LR. My understanding is that this is a functionality of LR. Am I wrong? (The Help files seem to indicate that this is a reasonable expectation.)
2. I am assuming, having read many posts on the forum, that the error message "Sidecar has conflict" is a bug. Am I right? (My understanding is that JPEGs don't have sidecar files, which just makes this message even more odd.)
I am on Windows 7 Home Premium (upgraded from Vista Home Premium), 32 bit.
When a raw file badge shows that the file has been changed, I use Metadata Save to File & for the large majority of my images, the badge goes away and Metadata Status Changed does not show the file. For some of my files, however, the Save to File command doesn't work properly. If I am only displaying files with changes, the file briefly disappears, then returns. Even if I go to Windows Explorer and delete the xmp file, then again Save metadata to file, it pops up again with the badge saying it needs to be saved. I'm using Lightroom 4.3 64 bit on Windows 7.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to Lightroom 4.3 in Windows 7 64Bit I often get random problems during DNG developing. The first problem: LR during developing shows on image thumbnail the exclamation mark icon of "metadata conflict" warning (see attached screen snapshot). This problem occurs when an external program (i.e. PS) has modified the DNG file and LR Catalog is not synchronized. Of course no modification at all has been done externally by any software but LR itself! It seems a problem of DNG/catalog sync that in some cases fails (very disappointing). The second problem is the black exclamation mark (see again attached screen snapshot) that means problems during reading DNG!! This problem is absolutely random too. Developing is still possible on this files and usually the problem disappear ...
This problems don't affect proprietary RAW files (NEF from my Nikon D300s) and I've never seen them in Lightroom 4.2.
I created a file in Photoshop and was saving it along the way as a layered PSD file. When I went to open it a few days later, it wouldn't open and said that it was an '8 file'. What happened, and how do I fix it? It had all the design layers I needed for another project.

I Installed VSX3 and I cannot render my AVCHD files from my Sony SR11. I get a dump error that points to the AVCHD dll file. I have used that last 5 versions of VS and my AVCHD files were fine with 11 and 12.
Are there users on here that are successful with Sony AVCHD files on Windows 7?
I'm learning how to create extension (flex - extension builder) for Illustrator and how to make it communicate with a plugin.
The samples provided in the SDK detailed how to load /unload extension from a menu item from Illustrator, and how to add / remove EventListeners to make the magic happen.
to sum up, this is something like that:
1- click on the menu item
2- load extension
3- add listeners
4- do your stuff......
5- remove listeners
6- unload extension
Basically my plugin is a module/service which is in charge of dealing with / modifying artwork tree. It has no User Interface.
My extension will have a user of this service.
What I would like to do is to load my extension as soon as my plugin is loaded, and unload the extension when the plugin will be unloaded.
Or notify when extension is loaded or unloaded.
Is that possible and hw could I achieve that?
When i rename files in batch in Bridge CS6 the extension from my files is deleted, leaving me with exec files. Sometimes the new name is given but the extension disappears and other times the new name i wanted to give my files appears in place of the extension.
I have had this problem for a while in combination with a cache problem (every time when opening bridge it asked me to purge the cache). I seemed to be solved by renaming the cache folder cache_old and creating a new one but now the batch renaming problem has returned.
Some jpg files are stored with the file extension .jpg and some are strored with .jpeg. Actually when you rename the extension from .jpeg to .jpg it seems to make no difference and the file is still usable with most software including Xara Designer Pro 9 that I use.
I remember that in older versions of Xara, when you exported to jpg, the filter for the file listing was [*.jpg; *.jpeg] and all the files with the respective extensions where listed and you could pick an existing file to write over it or select it and use a similar name. In Desiner Pro 9, when I select "export to jpeg" the only filter is [*.jpg]. So I do not see the jpeg files anymore.
I could just rename the .jpeg file to .jpg ... but why not show the .jpeg files also? Is there a way in Xara to get this feature back? Am I missing something?
Is it possible to change the file extension that Photoshop uses to autosave files? Another program that I use also autosaves and apparently uses the same extension. When I open that program, I get a message asking if I want to change the association back to that program.

This functions used to write files with the extension png but now it writes png files with the extension pspimage. If you try to open such a file you will get error messages.
PSP seems to be back with version X6 with again destroyed old functions. It seems so as if will not buy the update this time. With each new version I get new bugs in old functions.

I'm trying to set up an action to save a batch of files I creating using the variables tool (as detailed in this video: [URL]), I'll go into the Actions window, and record myself saving the current file in .Ai format, and then stop recording. Seems pretty simple, but when I set that action to run a batch on my dataset it saves all the files without an extension. Am I missing another step where I set the file format that the action is supposed to save with? I'm confused. I've tried this using a few different file formats and they all come up the same.

I'm using PSE 9 on a new Mac Mini. I want to be able to save files with a lower-case extension by default. With my main (non-administrator) account, the extension is there, but it's always in uppercase. I've tried to select the "Use lower-case" option, but it always comes in upper-case, and when I go back to the preferences, the "Use lower-case" option is unselected. In my administrator account, I can't even get the "Always use an extension" option to stay selected.
