I created a file in Photoshop and was saving it along the way as a layered PSD file. When I went to open it a few days later, it wouldn't open and said that it was an '8 file'. What happened, and how do I fix it? It had all the design layers I needed for another project.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been working on a certificate and i saved it without looking at the file type. For some reason it set the file type to (.5). What is that? Is there any way I can open it again in CS5? Is there a file converter I could use. I just need to basically open the file agian in CS5 so I can continue to edit the certificate. I have tried opening the file with CS5 and CS6 and I get this message:
"Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."
When I send a file to Ps from Lr, edit that file then save it, Lr puts that file at the end of the line instead of next to the file I was working on. When you have 600 photos in a down loud, it is a pain to scroll through the photo's to find your place again.
Is there a setting to force the saved file back in line next to the file that was edited in Ps?
When a raw file badge shows that the file has been changed, I use Metadata Save to File & for the large majority of my images, the badge goes away and Metadata Status Changed does not show the file. For some of my files, however, the Save to File command doesn't work properly. If I am only displaying files with changes, the file briefly disappears, then returns. Even if I go to Windows Explorer and delete the xmp file, then again Save metadata to file, it pops up again with the badge saying it needs to be saved. I'm using Lightroom 4.3 64 bit on Windows 7.

Recently I downloaded a trial period for Adobe Photoshop CS6.
I made a New Folder when I downloaded the software ~ if that means anything.
My problem is that I need to save files as .eps but when I go to Save As it is not listed. I checked the list of extensions and Ps does have it available. So, I am beside myself wondering why it is not in my drop down list of extensions.
I have searched the FAQ's to no avail. However, I am not certain I have been asking my question in a manner in which I would be able to narrow down a relative result.
if cs3 photoshop will open an .trd file extension. i have found that cs2 did....but i cant get the new one to do it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis might be a simple preference setting but I can't seem to make it work. In CS5 and I go to "save for web" like I would when I was on CS4. A lot of times I will click on an existing file so that file name will auto fill the new save name and then I'll add to it.
But now when I click on a file I get the file name and ext, how can I get just the file name to show in the input box and not add the file ext to the name?
My photoshop recently closed with some files open. I supect windows update to be behind that but can't be sure.
I found in the %temp% folder couple files thats look interresting but no way to open them or be sure what it is.
Files are:

Everything has been working fine but I have recently installed two new extension panels - Fundy Image Brander and Tych Panel. When either of these scripts require you to input a file to open via the Open File dialogue box, everything hangs for 2-3 minutes. The mouse and keyboard do not lock and you can open up other windows which work fine. The open file dialogue just hangs (not just on selecting an individual image but selecting a drive or folder). If you call up the Task Manager and End Photoshop as a task a dialogue box pops up with the message "The system cannot end this program because it is waiting for a response from you."
Photoshop otherwise works well. It's just when the extension panel requires you to input a file to open.
When saving tiff files in CS4, how can I have file names automatically created with ".tif" extension. Currently they are saved as non specific file types unless I include, or later add, ".tif" every time.

We do have Arcview, which will open the IMG file (ERDAS Imagine raster format?), but it will only save this as standard raster formats (jpg, tiff). I am doubtfull that one can use these formats as a DEM in Map.
No matter what I do, the file extension names (i.e. jpg) show up in the contact sheet. eliminate them? I'm creating a grid for a gallery show and having the filename extensions added to the title of each image is cheesy.

I recently opened a .pdf document into CorelDraw x5 using the pdf extension in available file types to find the file.
Now when i try to use the normal open command to open a file the cdr is not available in the available file types region, everything else is still there except CDR.
To open a coreldraw file now has to be done in file manager.
I'm trying to make an application that would take a drawing(dwg) and convert it to pdf. Since I can do it directly in autocad 2013, i presume that there should be a function in the API, that i could use to do the same. So far, i tried with AcadDocument.export(filename, FileExtension, AcadSelectionSet) with no luck. I cannot put PDF as a valid file extension.

Ive recently upgraded to the new GIMP 2.8 and I cant seem to save files as anything other than gimp project files. I open the extension box to select the file type and there just isnt the option anymore. Do i have to reinstall GIMP or should I revert back to 2.6? I wouldnt think they would get rid of the ability to save in different formats so there must be a problem somewhere.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI tried to change my cursor by simply greyscaling it, then saving it as ico, then changing the file extension of that to .cur, but once I change it to .cur and apply it. The cursor is offset by 32 pixels down, not at the top left, but at the bottom left. The png was exactly 32x32 and the original cur file that was taken from the png file works perfectly, but the greyscale cur file cursor is offset. Why is that and how can I fix it?

If Photoshop is running and I click on Open, then navigate to this location the file appears and will open.However, if I try to navigate to the file by starting with My Computer and going to the exact same location as specified above the file does not appear. I've tried searching for it via Search, going through my entire computer and got nothing. And worse, sometimes I will Save a file in Photoshop and then go back to it a few days later and it is not there.I think the problem is where Photoshop actually saves the file. My 1st scratch disk is set to Startup. What does this mean? Is this dictating where Photoshop is saving the actual file?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSome jpg files are stored with the file extension .jpg and some are strored with .jpeg. Actually when you rename the extension from .jpeg to .jpg it seems to make no difference and the file is still usable with most software including Xara Designer Pro 9 that I use.
I remember that in older versions of Xara, when you exported to jpg, the filter for the file listing was [*.jpg; *.jpeg] and all the files with the respective extensions where listed and you could pick an existing file to write over it or select it and use a similar name. In Desiner Pro 9, when I select "export to jpeg" the only filter is [*.jpg]. So I do not see the jpeg files anymore.
I could just rename the .jpeg file to .jpg ... but why not show the .jpeg files also? Is there a way in Xara to get this feature back? Am I missing something?
