Lightroom :: Don't Have Access To LR5 Adjustment Panel

Jan 16, 2014

With Adobe tech support, I consolidated my LR 2.7 catalog with LR 5 catalog. But when I opened up the older photos in LR5, I had only the L2 2.7 Adjustments available.

Do I need to reimport the older photos? I thought that an yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it would show up to update. Is 2.7 too far a leap to LR5?

Photoshop :: CS5 Adjustment Panel - Cannot Find Masks Tab

Apr 23, 2012

In PS CS5 when Adjustments panel is selected un the Windows dropdown menu next to the adjustments panel tab there is a Masks tab.  This is not the case with PS CS6 Beta.   Why is this the case?  Has Adobe excluded the Masks tab?  I could not find the Masks tab under the Windows drop down menu?

GIMP :: Color Adjustment - Curving Certain Colors?

Nov 9, 2011

I draw images by hand and then scan them and digitally color them.

The white of the page is not a solid white, but full of variance. Also, there are many tiny specs of dust and things that show up as grey specs on the image.

Prepping a black-and-white line drawing is easy; I just use color curves to set the mostly-white areas to pure white, doing the same with black, and tweaking the curve how I want to make my black lines sharper or smoother and cutting out those grey specs.

But I've been trying to work out how to add a second level of detail in these drawings. This comes in the form of a light blue. This light blue can be used for so many great things, like points to line up an image that was drawn on multiple sheets or to represent lines that will becomes shadows or highlights that I don't want to show up in the final image.

Previously I had been scanning my pages as greyscale images to completely wipe out extra color variations that I didn't want. If I do that with the blue lines they turn grey and they get eroded when I adjust the color curves. If I scan it as full color I now have subtle color variants that throw things off, and adjusting the color curves still erodes those blue lines even worse.

If I try adjusting the color curves by color channel I turn the whole image to a particular tint.

How can I adjust the colors of an image to turn anything mostly white into white, mostly black into black, and mostly light blue into light blue; and preferably be able to adjust the scale it does this by so that I might prevent dust from becoming black spots and even maintain the greyscale range at the very edges of my lines?

Photoshop :: How To Make Limited Number Of Colors Swatches Fill The Panel

Nov 17, 2011

I have been using Adobe since CS3, now using CS5. Why is there still no way to have the color swatches FILL the panel.

I rarely use more than, say, 8 to 12 colors in a document. Why can't I set the Adobe products (I mostly use Ps, Id, and Il) so that the swatches panel has no blank space. I would like to have the colors will fill the entire space with LARGER tiles/icons. I find it very frustrating to have to click on a micro-sized square to pick a color. Or, try to discern small changes in the shade between 2 colors by squinting at such a small sample (again micro-sized square).

Lightroom :: Adjustment Brush Not Working - 4.1

When I try to use the adjustment brush by selecting the brush, the sliders shown for the brush change the complete photograph, which I do not want it to do. When I use the brush it makes changes. But, if I make a slider change that I want for the brush it actually changes the complete photograph. It  has worked properly in the past. I was able to make a slider change and it would only make changes to the area the brush selected.

Lightroom :: Adjustment Brush Changes Size

Jul 7, 2012

In Develop, when preparing to use the Adjustment Brush, first I adjust the size of the brush.  I slide my cursor along the Size slider and the displayed adjacent "sample brush" varies in size. Next, I move the cursor into the field of the image.  When the cursor crosses over into the image field, the circle indicating brush size changes;  it gets larger by roughly 25%.  I have been using the adjustment brush now for what seems like 2 or 3 years, but I can't recall it changing size before. Is this normal?  2 screenshots:  a) the cursor(sadly not reproduced in the screenshots) hovers at the slider;  b) The cursor is moved to the image field, and the Adjustment brush circle has increased in size.

I have an Eizo external monitor connected to my MBP and use the external for editing.  I have been doing so for a couple years now and with all versions of Lightroom (even 4.2).  I have always been able to see the changes/edits real-time on the external monitors when adjusting something with one of the LR  sliders. Ever since I installed the latest LR update (4.3)- I don't see changes realtime. I have to wait until I let go of the mouse/slider to see the changes/adjustments.

However, I am unable to use the corresponding Command/Y to re-do the adjustment. Is it a secret or just not available in CC and/or a Mac? I used to use these often to check out recent adjustments and I'd like to have it back.

Lightroom :: How To Go Back To Adjustment Brush Changes

Oct 11, 2012

I am using LR 4.2 and I have a question about the non-destructive editor, specifically the use of adjustment brushes.  After I work with an adjustment brush and then go on with my editing I can't figure out how to make tweaks to what was darn earlier on the adjustment brush area.  With all the other editing functions I can change something and then later make a change.  For example, I can set -10 highlights and then later I can change it to -15 highlights and then later change it to something else.  With things I have done with adjustment brushes though I haven't figured out the technique to do that.  If I select adjustment brush and then click on the area that I had earlier changed with an adjustment brush it doesn't seem to reselect that area so that I can tweak it.  Is there a way to go back and tweak areas selected with an adjustment brush?

Lightroom :: Rectangular Selection And Adjustment?

I would like to digitally publish some family scrapbooks.  The plan would be to scan the page,  then digitally adjust some of the photographs (old and faded, etc.) on each page.  There are multiple photographs per page, and in most cases, only some of the photos on each page would need to be adjusted.  Is there a way to import the whole-page scan into LightRoom and then adjust a rectangular portion.  And for extra credit, in a few cases, photos overlap each other have a notch out of a corner (looks like the US state of Utah).

Lightroom :: Adjustment Brush In LR3.6 - Windows 7

Feb 28, 2012

I have a couple questions regarding adjustment brushes in LR 3.6 .

1.  I recently found out there should be Iris Enhance, Skin Soften, etc. brushes in the presets.  I can't find them under the adjustment brush.  I've tried going to Edit->Preferences->Presets->Restore Local Adjustment Presets as several others have suggested but it doesn't appear to do anything.I have found these files where I've read they're supposed to be (../AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Lightroom/Local Adjustment Presets) but I can't find them in LR unless they're somewhere other than the Adjustment Brush panel.

2. Also, 'O' turns the mask overlay on and off as it should.  I have 'on' set to red but for some reason 'off' is set to blue and I have to desaturated it everytime I turn off the overlay mask.  How do I change the "off" state to be no color?
