Lightroom :: Arrow Keys Don't Work In LR5 Slideshow Module - Auto Mode
Dec 20, 2013
In LR5, Slideshow module, the arrow keys do not move to the next or previous image in the auto mode. They do work in the manual mode, but I need them to work in the auto mode as well.
In Lightroom 5.3, in the Slideshow Module and in the Impromptu Slideshow, the left and right arrow keys should move the slideshow backwards or forwards respectively when pressed. However, in my copy of Lightroom 5.3, pressing these arrow keys while the slideshow is running or paused has no effect whatsoever. (The arrow keys work as they should)?
Attached is an x6 file with 2 text blocks. The top block has the following instructions:
Using your text tool, select the text below.Try to move around in it using your arrow keys. Also, left justify the text. Then right justify the text.(Watch the icon when you do it)
The second text block is the problem. This second block of text is originally from an x3 file, then x5, now x6. Never had a problem with it before but today it didn't work, so I copy and pasted this text block to a new file, same problem. I don't have this problem in any other file.
EDIT: to be clear, I mean 'move around the cursor in the text' not move the text around the page.
Current System: i3 3.07ghz, 3gb ram, Windows 7 32 bit with all updates and X6
I have been working in PSP since PSP 7 so I am pretty familiar with the program. In PSP X4 when I go to adjust the opacity of a raster layer using the opacity slider on the layer palette toolbar. I click on it and I can't use the arrow keys to adjust the value. My arrow keys have no effect on the opacity slider at all. how I can get it working? It has never worked for me in PSP X4.
I am running LR4 ver4.3. All of a sudden I receied an error message stating cannnot switch to module. I have tried all the usual stuff before going out to the web to look for fixes. On adobe's site they recommended 6 things which I did exactly as instructed and still nothing..I am running iMac mountain lion and everything on my computer is up to date.
I'm wondering if it's possible to use the arrow keys to scroll up and down folders and presets? I'm starting to get RSI from the mouse. Is there a way? I can't work out how.
When in Library I have noticed a glitch. When using the right & left arrow keys to navigate the images, sometimes the keys do not work and I receive an error tone. To rectify the error I have to go out of Library and then back in again. The same sometimes happens when I am in the develop module.
I know this is gonna be hard to believe after 4+ versions of LR, but, I just tried slideshow on the 4.4 RC and the timing issue which has been the bain of the slideshow module seems to have been adjusted. I have just tried 6-7 different slide shows, added music of various lengths, changed the fade durations, changed the type of music, source of music, and greatly varied lengths of music and it has actually worked in a manner that would be acceptable to view with a client in a face to face presentation. This includes using an intro and exit screen. I am using a mac with SnowLeopard. I will try this on a PC with Windows 7 Professional later today. You still can only use one soundtrack and make sure the sound track does not start or stop too abruptly, but what a big difference! I could not get it to mess up regardless of changes I made.
I experience a lot of annoying waiting time watching the progress bar while Lightroom is "preparing the previews in advance". In previous versions you could skip this process and the previews were built while the slideshow was running, which was performing very well.
Please bring back this "feature". I know the previews don't have to be built if you already have 1:1 previews but it's not very convinient to have 1:1 previews for every image you might want to show in a slideshow. Especially since LIghtroom 5 invented the Smart Previews I don't understand why these previews can't be used for the slideshow module as well.
Is there a bugfix coming or any workaround within LR (no 3rd party software)?
When attempting to access the SLIDESHOW module I get the error message "an error occurred when attempting to change modules. This occurrs when using either the main task bar at the very top of the page under "WINDOW" or the horizontal list of modules near the top right of the page.
yes I did get a error message but it was too long to copy here.I've paid good money for Lightroom. I'M spending a lot of time using it and perfecting my stuff. If it crashes all the time, what's the point? I am about my work and I don't feel very much respected by this version of Lightroom.I'm using the most recent version, 4.1 .
in Lightroom 5's Slideshow module, i use the Overlay panel (you decide if Identity Plate or custom text appear in the slide show). I've seen screenshots and tutorials where you could add shadow to those overlays - there was a Shadows section at the bottom of the Overlays panel.
But that was Lightroom on the Mac. In my Windows version the Overlays panel does not show the Shadows section that i clearly see on screenshots taken on Macintosh versions.
I just got a new computer and use Lightroom 3.6. Now when I make a slide show and save it as a PDF it won't auto-advance to the next slide when running. When I review it in Lightroom it auto-advances fine but when I run the PDF file it sticks on the first slide and must be advanced manually. I believe I'm running the latest version of Adobe Reader as I just downloaded it last week when I got my new computer. how to get the auto-advance feature running like it did on my old computer?
The lightroom slideshow module appears to only allow one picture or one video per screen. I would like to put everything within one folder (usually 4 pictures) on one screen.
In the Adobe Classroom in a Book LR5 pg 28 there is a method shown to start the slideshow - Window > Impromptu Slideshow. It states that while you are running the slide show you can use the keys 1 - 5 to rate the photos and the left and right arrows top scroll through the photos.
the numbers indicate the rating but it does not apply the rating to the photo - when you get out of the slideshow the rating is the same as before I started the slideshow. Additionally the left and right arrows dont appear to work.
I switched to lightroom 5. There is one change from 4, which I like to be undone and maybe there is a way to achive this via some setting. When I am in slide show mode with full screen the next and previous slide cannot be reached any longer by the left and right arrow. This used to be possible and it is very good if one wants to test a slide show without waiting for the next picture for 5 seconds (or whatever the delay is). It is also nice to have a quick possibility to have a look at the previous picture again.
Trying to make a slideshow in LR4, however I can't seem to change the duration on individual photos. i can set the speed for the slideshow, but this speed is globalized to all photos. Can I change this so that I can change duration of individual photos?
I just discovered, that when in Library module, and viewing my photos in Fill mode, it is not sharp. It is in fact so blurry, that it is unusable. Not sure I remember it correctly, but it happened also during the tethered shooting and viewing image on secondary monitor.
Interesting thing is, that once in a Develop module, Fill mode preview is sharp. I tried different settings re preview in Catalog Settings and Preferences, but no success.
In LR you can set the left and right panels, in the development module, to solo mode, and I think nearly everyone does. My problem is that I lose the mode each time I leave LR and have to reset it each time I enter LR. Normally the panel’s stays in solo mode and in previous versions have. I’ve been using LR since the public beta way back in 12/2006.
Why my LR doesn’t stay in solo mode or how I can get it to stay in solo mode?
Recently purchased a new computer with 64 bit system 4meg ram. I installed CS2 and everything seems to be working except the arrow keys and the control +/- features. Arrow keys are working in other programs like word and publisher.
