Previously shown folders from Pictures (iMac / Mavericks) on left side, no longer show up. When selecting Import, they show up on the lower right side. LR5 will not let me select from library so that I can work with the folders.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to show only the lowest level of folders in my LR LIbrary module. Used to do that but somehow got changed. Now shows parent folder, 2nd and 3rd levels. If I uncheck INCLUDE SUBFOLDERS it just gives me a zero photo count for the parent but still shows the folder and I still ahve to click levels to get to the photos. If I right click on parent folder....someone said to click Promote Subfolders......I do ot have this choice!

They are still in develop presets but there not showing up and Ive tried deleting them and adding them again then closing out of lightroom 4 and going back in but I can not seem to get them to show up again. I must have hit something but there not showing up again
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a photo that I want to crop a little off the top and left side. However, the size of the photo must be 8 x 12. I set the aspect ratio to 8 x 12. Then on the photo, I move the line on the top and left to where I want it. The aspect ratio then goes back to original size. What am I missing?

Im having a problem editing a photo 'face' one side 'left' side is lighter than the right side because of lighting. I was wondering If I could get both sides even prefably the lighter side like the normal side.
Is this possible? Because everytime I try edit the lighter side it still remains lighter.
When I move a selection of image files from one folder to another within lightroom there is always an error with at least one image and it doesn't make the move and is left. I can then reselect this image and then move it again.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am currently working with a trial version of Lightroom 4.2 and i have been doing some silly things. The end result is that Catalog has disappeared from the left hand panel of the library tab ie i only see Folders, Collections and Publish Services..
I have tried to use File/New Catalog, Open Catalog and Open Recent but, in each case, I get an error box appearing: " ....catalog address refers to a location that is not available" it does not close and re-open LR
Now for the confession as to how this situation arose. I had been using LR quite happily using the catalogue which was automatically created when i started. Then I decided to try creating a new catalogue, in fact I ended up creating a few new catalogues. I decided to remove all the catalogues and start again with one catalogue which I would set up (I was not worried about losing the updates to the photos i had been playing around with) But, as i could find nothing within LR about deleting catalogues, I decided to remove them via Windows Explorer. When i went back into LR, Catalog was still showing in the left hand panel and, when i looked in Explorer, it was in the original folder My Pictures/Lightroom which I thought i had deleted along with all the other catalogues. Presumably it had been re-created automatically as in my original use of LR
I then compounded my mistakes by clicking on the + to the right of Catalog and, for interest, choosing whatever was at the top of the resultant list. It was at this point that Catalog disappeared never to be seen again.
I have approximately 500 photographs in folders and collections. Want to delete them and start over. What is the best way to go back to Lightroom 5 cc as it was when initially downloaded?

How do I sort my folders in the Library mode -- on the left "folders panel" -- by default it sorts alphabetically -- how do I change that default?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI attended Matt's Kozlowski's LR4 seminar a few months ago. He talked about not using dates to organize your folders but instead use a meaningful description.
So at the time of IMPORT, I add the metadata, keywords and rename the folder to something meaningful. He said the folders cold still be found by date.
So.....on a recent trip to NEW HAMPSHIRE, i did some work, imported files into LR and renamed the files at import into my PICTURES directory on my laptop.
Now that I am home I am exporting as a catalogue but only the dates and not the names I gave at IMPORT for the folders appear in the library module.
DOI now have to go back at the destination and rename all the folders
I must be missing something.
I want to transfer all this work to my main computer but I will just be going back to bad habits using dates to name files.
How do I locate my folders in the Library Module? All that is showing is the "Navigator", Catolog, and "Collections".

View 7 Replies View RelatedI cannot use my mouse scroll to navigate up and down the numerous folders I have in my library. I can grab the page bar and move up and down (and while I'm hovering over the page bar, I can scroll up and down with the mouse wheel) - but only when I'm actually over the folders, the mouse wheel doesn't work!
It works fine when I'm in develop mode and I can scroll through all the presets and history.
But when I'm in library mode, the mouse scroll doesn't move my folders up and down ?
in LR3 folder panel if I wanted to filter missing photos or smart collection for selected folder-s, it was possible by crtl+click on a folder to see the selection in the grid which I used quite often. Now it no longer works. I wonder why it's not possible with LR4.
View 11 Replies View RelatedVery new with this software...watched several videos, and I'm still confused. Went to send some pics to a friend last night, and noticed that many "folders" are not in the pictures library in Windows 7.
In LR4, some folders have a destination of C://users/eric and brenda/windows/pictures...which is great, but others have this destination C://Brandon(which is just the folder name).
how can I get the folders in the Windows Library?
I want to view folders in library to make sorting easier but my template of folders (created in Finder) will not show. Before I cull my images, I'd like to be able to sort/shove specific images into specific folders before culling. It appears that the only way to see these folders is to have an image in them.
How do I get these folders to appear in Library?
I use a file structure in lightroom with subfolders within folders to organize photos; some of these top level folders contain many thousands of pictures; I have found that any top level folder with greater than 3000 photos will no open, and therefore all photos within that top level folder are not searchable. When I try opening such a large folder, the phrase "no photos in selected folder" is displayed. This has never been happened in LR3, but is happening in LR4. Folders less than abour 2500 photos can be opened and searched easily.

how do i get the left side of my menu bar in photoshop elements 6, to show the edit, file, view, find, window and help buttons. Only the camera and little house show up. The only thing that shows is a tiny arrow which is barely visible. All was okay the first time I installed to another computer (which has since crashed). The reinstalling of photoshop the second time is causing the above problem.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having a serious problem with the thumbnails in Library/Grid mode taking anywhere from 5-10 seconds to "pop in" the adjustments I've made in develop and/or via the quick develop tab. I need to quickly see if large batches of images are similar in color/exposure, and I've always used the Grid to compare them in bulk. Now it seems the previews refuse to update unless I hover over that image for an extended period of time. I've even tried jumping back and forth between Develop (in order to update the preview) and Library, but 8 times out of 10 it reverts to the old preview. I have tried:
1) Clearing my cache
2) Expanding the cache size from 3 GB to 10 GB to 40 GB with no avail
3) Optimizing the catalog
4) Updating Lightroom & Camera Raw
5) Removing Luminance/Sharpen adjustments from all the images
6) Reducing Preview size/quality
7) Using Smart Previews
Because of the sheer numbe of images I work with, I have to store them on an external drive, not my Mac (3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 and 16 GB DDR3 memory). Even when I edit images locally on the machine, I have this problem. All of my software and drives are up to date, and I've got around 90 GB free on my system. making my adjustments on faith and then "re-updating" the previews...but deleting the Smart Previews/Previews and recreating them doesn't seem to fix the problem.
How can this possibly happen? The section Apply During Import in the import dialog screen has a field for Develop Settings, but this field says None, so nothing should happen to the photos during import. So why do the display in B&W in Library?

The problem comes when printing, when the page is printed I get a 1cm margin down the left side of the paper every time even though the preview print does not show this 1cm margin.
