InDesign :: Pictures Are Distorted Although The Resolution Is Fine?
Feb 18, 2014
As mentioned above I am facing problems with the resolution of a picture. The quality of the original picture is very good, but when I insert it in InDesign it appears distorted. The ppi is still 360 and the picture is also linked.
This problem only occurs on 3 pages of a document with 74 pages in total

I'm working to apply master pages to a document for page numbers and such, and the pages panel looks distorted and won't load properly. I have tried starting and restarting the program and computer. The document works properly on another program in my office, but I really need it to work on mine. I am running InDesign CS6 8.0.2.
how do I move a master page number over a box, creating the background color? Do I have to apply it in another layer?

I have an EPS file that I am placing in Indesign doc. The image looks great in Illustrator, but in InDesign once placed there is a wave pattern to the colours (like an old tv) – not a smooth gradient. Is this a color profile problem? Or issues with how to maintain a vector image quality when importing into indesign? Upon export to PDF, again the EPS file exports fine, but InDesign export the colors aren't smooth (see sample images). The color is formatted for print (Fogra 39) for both.
changing the working space to setting for print in InDesign. Under “placed content” should keep existing assignments, enable all profiles, disable all profiles be selected?

When I open a high resolution image in Ai they look somewhat distorted and choppy. They are jpeg files that I am placing in order to envelope distort onto a mesh. For some reason any bitmap image I open with Ai looks like this. However, when I open the same image with Acrobat Pro or Ps the image looks perfect. Images are RGB in both apps.
Image in Ps or Acrobat Image in Illustrator
There most be something in Illustrator that is causing this. Images are being embedded and cannot be linked since they need to be distorted. I am runnung CS6 on Intel iMac Maveriks.

I recently broke my HP laptop 15" screen and have set the laptop up as a desktop, using a new Dell u2410 monitor. The images in lightroom are now distorted vertically, so that a vertical 8x10 looks like its 8x11.

A print job with complex shaded / patterned backgrounds is no longer printing correctly. It works fine when the job is sent to Acrobat where the backgrounds print correctly to the same printer. Is there a setting I should be changing?

Just finished up a little slide show type project for the mother-in-law's 75th birthday. When I rendered the project to an AVCHD or MPEG-4 HD file, playback quality is excellent. So I needed to make a DVD version of the project as the old girl doesn't do 'puters. But when I burned the project to DVD the resolution of the pictures/titles was reduced substantially.
I used the following settings for the project and burning:
Project Props:
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
DVD Props:
DVD Video 16:9
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
The resulting burn would only load on one of three (different brand) DVD players. Picture quality poor. Visible jags on edges of titles. Flicker on background Lens Flare effect.
Then I tried changing the DVD settings to:
*DVD Slideshow 16:9
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
*Frame-based
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo
This resulted in a quick load and play on all three DVD players. Flicker on Lens Flare effect gone.
Picture quality still poor. Jags still visible on titles.
This is my first crack at burning to DVD and I'm just wondering what I'm missing here. I would assume that the DVD quality should be equal to AVCHD or MPEG-4.

I have started offering the option to buy high resolution pictures to cd. File Settings, Image Size, Output Sharpening - so many boxes and not sure which to check or leave unchecked A couple of the pictures I cropped to 4x6 but the others are all the original as I shot them.

I'm trying to use some pictures to design a calendar online and the pictures have to be high resolution to look right. I had no problem changing the resolution on paint shop pro until it decided it crash and never reopen. Now I'm trying to figure out how on earth to do that with gimp. On PSP I just went to image/resize and all I had to do was change the 72 to 300. I'm at loss on how to do it with any other paint or photo program.

I've found a pattern that I think is acceptable, from a real image. Now the question is this: how can I colorize the large image to that it is as resemblant as possible to the original one? I've tryed a simple colorize, but the result is not so good...

I realize the nature of my question maybe asking the impossible, but I have a low res image I downloaded from the internet, placed in an InDesign page, blew it up and printed it out. I was going for the distressed look that it has, it looks ok when I print it out considering it's low res and I blew it up fairly large. However, it's a little too pixelated to look professional when printed. Are they any tricks or things I can do to make it look higher res for print. I've attached the image as well as a screenshot of the InDesign file so you can see it in context.

I am a Photoshop newbie and I have a series of graphics (all 72dpi from a website) that I would like to print in 300dpi. Is it possible to take a 72dpi .jpeg or .gif file and easily convert it to a higher resolution printable graphic? If Photoshop can't do it, is there any type of program that can?

I am trying to design wedding invitations for my sister, but the fonts look distorted. I use a template created by my printing company, and the resolution is automatically set at 250. I view the sample at 100%, but can see where the edges of the fonts look "pixilized" and not crisp. Even when I print them they look this way. I have tried over 20 fonts but they are all doing this. Is there a special setting that I need to use to have the edges of the fonts look crisp?

I have just spent several days putting a project together. Mainly still images with some digital video.
When I rendered the project (pal 16_9 frame based also tried lower first) the result is far from acceptable. It looks like a low res picture although I rendered with high quality settings (the same ones I have used many times before) Straight lines seem to have a slight saw tooth effect. If I utilize an overlay the problem is suddenly much more pronounced. Wether this is caused by the overlay itself or the fact that the images are enlarged slightly I don't know.
The video clips from my digital video camera seem to be ok, the problem being mainly with the still images.
By the way the same images created as a slide show in movie factory are perfect.
I have a fast computer with vista installed and had excellent results earlier in the year with another sinilar project.

I just edited my my top 15 pics of a shoot i just did. I saved them in the RAW format. I didnt save the origional NEF, because i didnt want to not have the origional .NEF i took. It also saved a .XMP of the file. Ok, so saving goes fine, but when I open it again... it asks me about size, and some other things... I have no idea why its asking these things... I put in some numbers close to the picture size... and it opens grayscale, and totally distorted....most of them are just many lines...

I have an image that I want to print, but the text therein is all rippled and chunky and horror B-movie style. (This isn't a wave filter I've put on and been unable to reverse or anything like that, it's just unfortunate.)
So, what the quickest way I could go about tightening up the text so that it looks undistorted? I'm there's a faster method than using paths for it..

Just started to explore gimp. Have an application for distortion effects, but need to know the following. If I create a square (jpeg) that is exactly 50% black and 50% white and then distort the image using, for example 'i warp' or 'whirl & pinch', will the colour proportions of the resultant image still be exactly 50/50?
