InDesign :: CS6 - Appearance Of Blues Are Desaturated
Feb 27, 2014
All bright, vibrant blues are appearing as muddy and desaturated. I've changed the transparency blend space, the color settings, and did everything else I could think of including restarting the program.I've looked everywhere for a solution to this, but the only thing I found suggested changing the transparency blend space...which I tried several times.
I am working on some files for print, I started off with the default CMYK profile (US web coated SWOP v2). Everything looked great, my colors were bold and exactly as I wanted them. But, when I export tiffs (as my printer requested) they look very washed out and desaturated when I preview them on my computer or open them with my default image viewer. This is also true of the .PSD preview. If the same tiff file is loaded back into Photoshop the colors look great again. I have the same problem if I try other file formats too. My printer is having the same issue with my tiffs and the prints are not looking as they should.
I'm guessing that only Photoshop on my system is able to interpret the color information properly but I know very little about color profiles and modes. Should I have chosen this CMYK profile? Is there anything I can change or check to make the exported files more reliable?
I been using photoshop since version 6. Now I have the latest CS. I'm doing a website proposal for a client. I spent countless hours working on the project with vibriant colors however when I save, and it can be any format from a PSD to JPG BMP TIF so on, when I view the photo in ACDsee or even just internet explorer (jpg of course) it seems as loss a little color. Like it was de-saturated a bit. Now theres not alot of difference but I like to get exactly what I see in photoshop to what I see in a browser, windows fax and picture viewer, or acdsee.
Now I been playing with the color settings and my save as option is ICC profile Adobe RGB (1998). even if I uncheck it theres no difference.
I do get an error when opening the photo "Embedded Profile Mismatch"
Embedded: Adobe RGB (1998) working sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and three options to choose from in which neither makes any difference (I do understand I can turn this message off but it seems to be linked to the problem I'm having)
I changed my working space under Color settings to Adobe RGB (1998) and the message doesn't appear again, HOWEVER it still makes no difference. Plus I get a Maximum Compatibiliy message. This version is giving me many headaches yet I love the new shadow and color filter additions
I'm having an annoying issue with my CMYK images. I work for a marketing co. that's primarily print, and after uploading my images to our online storage interface (we use Egnyte), the jpegs appear "milky" or lighter and desaturated than what they do on my screen and in Photoshop.
I've tested tiff, jpeg and pdf and they all look fine on my screen, but the jpeg and tiff appear "milky" only on my collegue's screen, but the pdf is fine. She is on a Mac, I'm on PC, and no matter how I open the images, whether I redownload them from the web, or open them straight from my hd, they appear just fine.
With LR5, when I play a slideshow, the colors of the pictures are weird, something like desaturate and darken. Do some of you have the same issue? On a french LR forum, at least one person does.
I can't fix and wondered if anyone out there could provide some pointers. I was recently married and one of the photographs of my wife and I is absolutely great (taken by a friend). The ONLY problem is that at the time of the shot it looks as though my wife has a large piece of confetti on her tongue. This is a real shame because she looks absolutely stunning. Does anyone know how I can remove the offending piece of confetti and restore her teeth, tongue and lips?
I have a photoshop file and the dominant color is blue, however then I am saving it as gif or jpg, the blue turns in to purple I am not sure why, I've checked all the settings and I am not sure what is causing it, see attachments for clarity, blue.jpg is what the photoshop file looks like purple.jpg is what it looks like then saved as jpg,
Recently I have had a problem with Lightroom over saturating the blues in the skys of my photos. I start with a RAW file from my Canon 1Ds Mark 3. I start processing it in Lightroom and then send it to Photoshop CS5 as a TIFF to do more editing. The file is saved as a TIFF and appears in the lightroom catalog. In lightroom the skys are now highly saturated, much more than in CS5. I can view the Tiff file in the Windows Preview window and it looks the same as in CS5. If I use lightroom to export to a JPG, the JPG is saturated just like the TIFF appears in Lightroom. Windows Preview shows the JPG highly saturated just like it looks in Lightroom. This problem started in Lightroom 3.6 and has continuted in Lightroom 4. I first noticed it in February 2012. I am using the ProRGB color space when opening it if CS5 and as the workspace in Photoshop CS5. It makes no difference if I save the files in 16 bit color or 8 bit color. Color Management Policies in CS5 are set to Preserve Embeded Profiles. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both LR4 and CS5, but that had no effect.
These 2 screen captures show how the blues became more saturated in Lightroom after being edited in Photoshop. Since I do not have Camera RAW 7, I tell Lightroom 4 to render in Lightroom and send a TIFF to CS5. What is causing the shiff in the blues?
System Lightroom version: 4.0 [814577] Adobe Photoshop Version: 12.0.4 (12.0.4x20110407 [20110407.r.1265 2011/04/07:02:00:00 cutoff; r branch]) x64 Operating system: Windows 7 Business Edition[code].....
Recently PS CS5 is displaying blues and greens like black...
First I thought it was somekind of GAMUT warning - but i dont think thats it.
When i change the bits from the standard 8bit (and 16bit) it displays the colors wrong - HOWEVER when i make the file 32bit - it displays correctly!? Why?
I just opened Photoshop cs5.1 and now when i use specific colors they turn black -->[URL] however this ONLY happens in Photoshop when im using 8 or 16 bit colors, 32 bit works perfectlyfine -->[URL] and even stranger yet the colors in the layers tab work fine -->[URL] my GPU is a AMD HD 7970 with the latest catilyst.
I'm so tired of wasting time cleaning up holes in surfaces using the surface edit tools.
For some reason when i'm using the add line tool, i need to click the same two points 6-10 times before it actually closes or even more frustrating; it just doesn't close. When I review the event viewer error, it says cannot add / crossing break line... This isn't true, there are no breaklines being crossed.
I am trying to install the trial version of Photoshop Extended cs3 and every time I try, it will tell me that "Component Install Failed" and have a red x next to Photoshop and/or Shared Components. This is the first Photoshop product that I have tried to put on my computer, and the only other Adobe program we have is Flash MX. I did not install any beta`s and we recently formatted the hard drive, so I`m pretty sure that running the CS3 Script cleaner thing won`t help. I have also tried to install it on my laptop, (Recently formatted as well) and it does the same thing.
I have problems with colors. There is black overlapping blues/greens as shown on the image. This spiral is done with the same color airbrush style so the more saturated the area is the more black color percent appears.
I have installed it 2 weeks ago and it was working well for kinda half that time. Suddenly I have tried reinstalling both graphic drivers and photoshop but doesn't work.
Is there any filter, or technique that would take a PS picture and give it a glossy look? Something like as if the picture were printed on high gloss paper.
How can I change the appearance of Lightroom3. It is black and white lettering. I would like almost anything else. This is one of the great failings of Adobe. My old eyes need better contrasts.
The panels windows take up so much space on screen. It's mainly the width of the panel. I'm constantly having to move the panels over and back in forth in order to see what I'm doing.
Here's what it looks like.... Nearly 1/3 of the workspace is taken up. Is there any way to make the panel thinner?
i would like to powder coat a majority of the chrome plated items on my vehicle, however prior to doing so, i'd like to get an idea of what it will look like. i've seen it done before, but i don't know exactly how to do it in photoshop. if anyone has advice, tutorial, and etc. that will remove the chrome from a photo,
I'm working on a 3-D rendering of an interior view for a client presentation. I need to create a custom material appearance for the carpet and paint to show exactly what the room is going to look like with the clients finish selections. I know there was a way to create custome materials and assign them custom appearance jpg and/or png images in Revit Architecture 2010. Is there a way to do the same thing in 2012?
Appreance of the ToolBox and Form file , so the problem is that they are in tabs and not side by side with each other as shown in the following image .
So how to adjust the apperance of them to become side by side and avoid pressing each tab to move from form to Toolbox ?
usually when I use the 'divide' command I can leave the nodes on the drawing as they are only dots which appear hidden within the line by the time I'm printing, but this system is set up to plonk huge great crosses on the drawing
I've tried the help menu and had a quick search on here but cannot find where to alter the settings for node appearance
I want to create different gradients and effects on a shape and somehow copy them in the appearance panel and then reapply those gradients and effects on other shapes.
For some reason to time I need Illustrator to be perfect and it fails on me ON EXAM WEEK.
I used it yesterday perfect for a good 3-4 hour session. I get on today and I notice that clicking on my groups and paths freezes it for around 5 seconds then works again. Isolation mode also takes a while to go in and then come out and when I minimize it it takes longer to open back up again (10 seconds).
That is also not the only problem
I'm trying to copy the appearance from one group to another by dragging the swatch in the appearance panel. When I apply it to an object that object turns invisble but I can still see the path it just has no fill or stroke
I have a question about expanding appearance and multiply. I work in print-on-demand, and one of the limitations is that we can not use multiply on artwork. In order to achieve a similar appearance, when I receive these kinds of files, I flatten transparency, and that will sear in the way the multiply effect is interacting with the other elements of the same art file. (in the example below there are no interacting elements) However, if it is intended to interact with the background, I have to fiddle with the cmyk values (adding k) and opacity level until it is as close as possible. It is time-consuming.
we use 'expand appearnce' instead, and I tried it once and it worked! It did all the legwork for me; it spit out a different cmyk value and opacity level that mimics the effect of multiply, so I don't have to calculate it manually. However, I can't get it to work again. Illustrator thinks it is already its simplest form of appearance and will not expand it further. I've tried adding another effect and expanding but it will only expand the effect and keep the multiply.
Maybe she and I were both tripping when we thought it worked once? how to expand the appearance of multiply? Here's a picture of the 3 methods I'm speaking to: on the left is multiply, the center is flattened transparency, and the right is achieving a similar effect of multiply with opacity & color build.
I used CS6 standard. Why have some images have soft edges under retina (iPad 3) but sharp on a screen (non-retina)? Does this mean I will have to rework all my images to work with retina display? As most of my images are 72dpi, not sure if this relevant or not?
Is it possible to add a Appearance tab to a Ipart table? I am cataloging a set of parts and one part is made with steel but in Gloss - Black and Matte - Black and i'd like to differentiate the 2 without haveing to make 2 seperate Ipart files.
