I have a created a spiral path and added type to it. This spiral circles a planet-like object. This object is not completely circular, therefore overlaps some of the spiral. I would like the type on the spiral to wrap these protrusions. And I have tried the usual way of applying a text wrap (object > text wrap > make). The type on path doesn't seem to recognize the text wrap.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have some black and white photos from my wedding and I want to add some colour to them. It looks like it will be too much effort to recolour the whole photo so I might settle for just colouring the waistcoats for a splash effect.
I have read lots of tutorials for Paint.NET and for GIMP [URL] Essentially I do the following:
Add a new layer
Use lasso to select the waistcoat
Use bucket fill with the purple colour
Select multiply for the layer.
This gives me the result I am looking for, but only in the region that I have selected.
Not surprising really, but something that I can't get right and that seems to be skipped over in all the tutorials is: how do I select the area correctly?
Unless I go down to a really high zoom and spend ages with the selection, I end up either not selecting everything or I end up with leakage into other parts of the clothes.
This tutorial [URL] for a paid for product seems to let you just roughly choose your selection then it uses some algorithm for edge detection to make the correct selection.
Is there anything in Paint.Net to choose the selection like this? I have tried the magic wand, but the since the picture is greyscale, it chooses random selections all over the image instead of just the waistcoat.
Drew a path in Illustrator - made it a compound path. Made a clipping mask with another object inside it. When saved as a pdf, there are these strange white gaps in the stroke of the path.....

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor quite some time I've been trying to find the best way to remove a white background from images. I've checked out the sticky thread on this forum and as my image isn't of great quality and because it features quite a lot of white that won't apply.
Recently I found this tutorial which is supposed to work great (as seen in the comments). However, I think that because of a GIMP update that won't apply anymore somehow. I was hoping you guys might know what was causing it.
Everything works well until I get to step 7, where I have to select to Alpha. There it selects just the outlines, but my selection includes inner parts of the image, not just the background. And then after I invert and delete, the white that remains still has transparent parts that show up on the upper layer. So, am I doing something wrong with the Alpha to Selection, is that tutorial updated or is there a better way to remove the background from ie. a logo with just one background colour which isn't of great quality.
I'm trying to create a compound path in order to mask off some bits and create letters, but there seems to be some kind of overlap and its leaving a white line where there shouldn't be one. Its all set up to snap-to and both shapes are perfectly in line, but its still leaving this white border.
The top of each letter is basically just 2 semi circles, the diameter being where the white line is. the lines are still visible on low-res monitors...
how to get rid of this line or if it will even print?
I have to animate a long tentacle like object eminating from something , wrapping around another object and pulling it backwards. I have been looking at splineIK,pflow and some other approaches but they only cover part of the animation I need.
I am playing with PFlow and I can get something to spawn along a spline path to wrap around the object but not sure how to simulate the thing retracting and pulling the object with it.
I know there must be a better way to do this.
I have a banner that I got from a vector eps file.
Now what I would like to do is fill the white background of the outline path...

Why do transparent objects look different on white background vs no background like the image below?
If I flatten the transparency both sides of the gradient object looks like it's on a white background.
If I print it there's no difference.
A logo file was sent over to me with a white background. I am very new to Illustrator so I do not know how to change this. I checked the layers and it only shows 1 layer and an image file. I tried saving for the web, but there is no transparency area there either.

However, regardless of which way I attempt to export - jpg, tif or png, I'm still getting the (white artboard) background, which I do not want. I attempted to create another box & blend the background to the background of the other application that I am using, but it's still apparent.
Also, with some conversion, my image became distorted or changed the image colors a little bit.

The color and black are fine since they already stand out on the default white/transparent background. But i want to put the white design on a background that will make it visible. Is there a way to set up the document so that the background is a color so that you can see the white design, but when it's place into another document it's just the design and dosen't include the backgound?

Now i'm doing it by pasting the main line in the background and giving it white so that it shows a white backgound. Is there a way to do just by drawing like normal lines. If we can, is it possible to control the white backgound only to show less than the original line in both ends. Since illustrator uses unc path for links, the links that were created are slow to open for users at other locations and we would like to batch relink these files to a dfs namespace or unc path that better serves more users. I have already tested replacing the path in the files via find and replace using notepad but the link does not change when actually opened.
