i have many simple vector files, created in CS6 that are over 15MB. i had deleted all swatches, brushes and symbols. I jusc cant figure out why those files are so big..heres an example: and the .ai file weight is 17,1 MB. URL....

how I go about taking this complex graphic full of various lines to one simplified and united line drawing? We want to take and cut a vinyl window application. The white in the logo is what we want the vinyl to be. The gray only indicates the window.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using Illustrator since the late 80's but this request just now came up for the first time, twice in one day: the clients each want me to send them layered files (OK-no problem) wherein all the layers, even the raster layers, register as vector layers. Or at least all the layers, regardless of file-type (vector or raster) are contained within an unflattened Illustrator file. One of the clients specifically asked that the Type layer (No problem-all the type is on one layer) be "vector mapped", whatever that means, while all the other layers can be Photoshop layers, if necessary. So how do I hand them an open, unflattened Illustrator file containing both vector art and raster art? Can it be done in Acrobat, as a PDF? I'm working in AI and PS CS5, but I can and will upgrade if I have to.

My system is about a 6month old macbook pro with 16gb ram, i7 and AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB. What could be causing this? View 9 Replies View RelatedI'd like to convert this drawing that I made in photoshop (with the pencil tool) into a vector image for use with flash but everytime I try to live trace the image I wind up with something that's got 1000 anchor points or rounded edges. Is there a simple way to convert this image without manually retracing it?
It's imperative that the image keeps hard edges and simple colors. I'm trying to go for an 8-bit look.

I've searched for a way to make a simple, one color image into a vector image. The best thing I've found is a .atn thing fromsPECtre. I've unzipped it but really don't understand photoshop well enough to use it.
I'd like to learn how to actually do it my self. I can easily make the image into a selection, all I need is to make that selection into a solid vector.

New to Corel Draw. We just purchased a laser cutter to cut our stencils (we airbrush), but having a VERY hard time figuring out how to prep the vector images. We follow instructions, but it seems to always have a problem. We usually separate layers on photoshop and then trace on Corel so it can be a vector, but it doesn't seem to be working. What is the easiest, most simple way to turn an image into a vector so we can send it to the laser software??? Only doing black and white, one layer at a time.
Just need simple instructions, and most seem to be WAY too complicated or always have some complication. I have watched videos and read instructions, got close, but no cigar. Can I make an image a vector without tracing it? Does it have to be a bitmap to be a vector? I can't turn images into curves because the option is gray (not available). If I select hairline it puts a hairline border around the image and I don't want it cut!
way to create an outline contour cut for decals? Iv'e been doing this for years and it's been a headache. I have the graphic/text, duplicate it with a thick outline. Say .25". Then Convert Outline To Object. The problem I have is that if it's a complexe graphic or line of text, a number (sometimes a large number) of the nodes are broken and I have to join them. And CD sometimes adds way too many nodes. So I have to spend a long time deleting unnessesary nodes to clean it up.
Iv'e had people suggest to use the Arrange, Shaping, Boundery function. But that doesn't allow me to make the boundery any further away from the art.

The file has layers, and I have tried to select just one of the layers to copy and paste into a new AI file, but it doesn't work. I was working in Illustrator CS6 I had made a a bunch of vectors for a background and grouped them. I applied a blur to the group and was still editing the vectors within the group since then. After I saved and closed my file at the end of the day and opened it the next day my vector group is now solid. It seems like it is just a raster image? I can't edit it at all. How can I get it back? If I can't change it back I am going to have to start again!

View 4 Replies View RelatedBelow is a .jpg copy of the Vitruvian Man that I bought on istockphoto.com. I would like to get rid of the gold background and keep the black line work. I would like what was the gold background to be transparent. I would like to convert this .jpg to a vector file using Adobe Illustrator CS5. To do this I assume I somehow use the Live Trace feature but I'm not exactly sure how.
I would then like to be able to select the black linework and change it to red. Does this mean I need to somehow convert the drawing into a collection of indivdual paths and anchor points? When I've used Live Trace before, I had the tolerance set to about 45 and Simple Trace. This indeed got rid of the gold background but gave me no individual paths or points I could select and change the color of. The only thing I could select was the image as a whole, not individual points or paths. It was the entire image within a box. This occurred whether I used the black arrow tool (Selection tool ) or the white arrow tool (Direct selection tool). If no, then how could I change the black linework to red?
I am relatively new to Illustrator.
I am trying to create a simple 3D map, but not with the default iso settings. It's actually a remake of a map made many years ago on a squar grid using a rise of 1 and a run of 2 (all done by hand on graph paper). This creates an angle that is 26.5651°.
For iso, [scale: H=100%, V=86.602%] [shear: hoizontal axis -30°] [rotate: -30°] and so on, varying for the left, right and top. I have this working fine for iso.
My problem arose when I went to the 26.5651 angle. What settings should I use for the three sides (left, right, top)?
Is there any way to get the extrude and bevel tool to do work with my settings?
