Why are none of the effects I apply working? Every effect I've tried causes the program to "Not Respond", and then shows the program applying the "Gaussian Blur" when I have not applied it. The program applied "Gaussian Blur" also does not take effect, even though it shows the program applying it.
View 3 RepliesUpdated Illustrator to CC and now my apply gradient to stroke is acting funny (also does it with apply along stroke). First i can't get it to show up unless I find a number it likes (start out with 1 pt, don't see a stoke so increase size 1 pt at a time up to 11 to see it) now the corners have gotten strange, They seem to be missing small patches. You can see in the image I am not doing anything fancy, it's type and then just to make sure it wasn't a font problem I tried just a rectangle. It seems to be worst with corner set to round joint.

A long time ago I played with photoshop, and i remeber that at the click of a button I was able to transform the image completely with colorfull effects. Im working on my sisters PC while shes a way on vacation , and would like to transform this image.The present image is black and white , but i would like to recall how to do this to any image.
Any help appreciated. Basically I plan to use images as references for painting, but Id like to change the colors on the image completely using presets. Im not sure if they are filters or what not.I tried the filters , but thats not what im looking for. I need to completely transform the colors.
I would like to add an effect to just a person in front of a green screen. I've created an adjustment layer that produces the effect and placed it above the footage layer. How can I have the effect just apply to the actor and not carry over and fill the rest of the screen?

View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there an easy way to apply multiple effects on a set of images or individual images, similiar to something like a preset in LightRoom.
For example, if I run the following effects I have to apply it to each image one effect at a time and repeat for each image that I want the exact same effects applied but would prefer to do it all in one go
Blur/(GPU) Gaussian Blur
Noise/Reduce Noise
Photo/Sharpen+
I use these to clean up the moire from scans and reduce dust/dirt then apply a mild sharpen effect to bring back the now softenend image back up slightly. Being able to have presets would be a real bonus for quick clean ups, of digital camera images or camera phone images
I found it by spending a bit more time looking through the menus, under the Effect menu and the Advanced tab and creating a custom effects script ......
But now would like to see if I can have a list of presets instead of having to load them through the script engine one at a time, maybe an option under the 'Effects/Presets' menu option listing all the scripts that are currently saved.
When I am editing text, GIMP will no longer apply italic nor bold effects. (Underline works though.)
I just upgraded from 2.8(.2?) to 2.8.6, and now I have this problem. I also just upgraded from Win XP to WIn 7 and upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit, so I don't know if that is a factor.
I have files I created with the last version of GIMP that I can open and see the text properly formatted, but if I adjust the text the formatting disappears and WILL NOT come back.
GIMP won't print anymore either. My printer is set up correctly and I can print from other programs, but when I print from GIMP, it LOOKS like it went through, but the printer fails to do anything. I wind up having to tell GIMP to print to the microsoft xps writer (which DOES work) and then open the xps file I just made and have windows print it.
When I try to open after effects it says it is not compatible with this version of OS X.

I can't apply an angle constraint when using it as a flexible assembly either - and the flexible assembly keeps throwing an error to do with the translational constraints.

Could this be yet another incompatibility between CS6 and the 2011 Imac (ie. the 6970 card which Adobe refuse to support)?
I use iMac i7, 10.8.4, 16gb ram and CSCC 14.1.1.
When I invoke the lighting effects filter, EVEN WITH 8bit image, I am unable to use. The elipses and spots that allow the lights to be moved cannot be seen in spite of my best efforts. Searched web to no effect.
Filter - Render - Lighting Effects seems to be somewhat less than perfectly functional for me.Unlike another recent poster, I'm seeing the controls okay, but they don't actually seem to work properly. The chromakey function works passably well when I'm using it without any effects (I still have issues with transparency) but seems to work not at all when I apply an effect. I've tried applying sketch, rotosketch, colored ink, emboss, etc to the overlay after I've chroma keyed out the green and it basically eliminates the green screen effect.
There are SOOO many issues with this program that are really beginning to make it unusable for me.
-- Transitions applied to overlays (even a simple cross fade) usually affect all clips playing at that time (not just the specified overlay effect) which makes them unusable for overlays.
-- Even with smart proxy turned on, the preview video gets garbled and choppy after a few playings.
It's just a shame because the interface really is more intuitive than any other program I've used (after effects, Premiere, Vegas).
I am having trouble creating 3D text when it comes to adding the light layer effect. I write the text, create a camera, make sure the 3d button is checked, and extrude the text. Then I move the text to see the new 3d angles of the text. As I create a light layer, nothing shows up on the text. I have made sure that I am in Ray-Traced 3D mode, but nothing happens.

With slider you can set the pie chart slices size.
(It's based on a circular wipe.)
The 2D pie chart should be 3D.
The new CS6 3D engine does not enable wiping for 3D objects.
So I reverted to the "Shatter method" to extrude the pie chart.EVERYTHING worked...
Until I gave the sliders some keyframes.The shatter effect does not animate it's data when the slice sliders get keyframes.
I use the shift+/ shortcut heavily to reset my view centrally and fit it into the screen. Recently though I've noticed it intermittently stops working. I'm running After Effects 12.2.1.5 on Mac OSX mavericks on a MBP Retina 2013.

Then there was a problem with windows 7 on the startup - and suddenly something was changed within the computer and the filter no longer works.

Putting it on as a Multiply doesn't do anything to the solid shadow catcher. I have seen in the forum that some have had luck by changing the solid color, but this does not work for me.

In the french Keyboard it is Alt+shift+( ( Left parenthesese is on the 5 key ). When I type Alt+shift+[ on After It happen nothing??
If I swith to american language Alt+[ it works fine.
Today I was just about finished editing a video on CS6.What happens is that while RAM previewing at some point during the loading of the preview it will stop loading, It will then proceed to play the ram preview on loop and when I press a button to stop it a small box pops up in the centre of my screen and the ram preview bar to show what has loaded (the one which shows green for parts that are loaded and blue for cached) turns black and sometimes other parts of after effects turn black. This has happened before and I fixed it by uninstalling and reinstalling After Effects about 6 times. I would do that this time though I would like to know the cause of it and any possible fixes as it is quite irritating. Another thing that may be happening is the RAM usage is slowly filling as I render. This has happened before on my laptop and I did not manage to fix it though it was not related to the first issue that time. The last time when it happened on my laptop the RAM usage eventually filled up to 100% and it would no longer render. I am not sure if it is happening this time as it is still currently rendering though I will update the thread if it does. Finally my render is going very slowly, I am not sure if this issue is realted to any of the above or if it is just the effects I am using though. My memory and multiprocessing settings are using 6 cores of 7 with 2 GB of ram allocated to each with multiprocessing on. My ram allocated for other programs is 6GB. To fix these Issues so far I have tried clearing the cache, purging the memory and image cache, restarting my computer and reinstalling after effects.

There is a command in ACAD to apply properties of one object to others (brush icon in toolbar). I tries to use this command but it seams that it doesn't work for hatch.
What is easiest way to apply a hatch pattern from an object to the other one?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm matching 3D layers in AE to footage shot with camera. When I try to work with this I seem to work with sizes that AE can't cope with. In real life a layer should be 20 meters away from the camera. When I try to set these settings it jumps back to about 12 meters. ALso the camera can't be offset more than about -12000 mm (12 meters). That's no good. After Effects seems to work with tiny sizes. (you can't use meters or even cm as units, just mm). When I look in top view in my windows everything is out of reach. can't find the camera, can't find the layers. So...of course it's me doing something wrong and AE should be set differently, but how?
