I am having trouble creating 3D text when it comes to adding the light layer effect. I write the text, create a camera, make sure the 3d button is checked, and extrude the text. Then I move the text to see the new 3d angles of the text. As I create a light layer, nothing shows up on the text. I have made sure that I am in Ray-Traced 3D mode, but nothing happens.
I have a 3D Camera Tracker and 3D Text that I would like to have a shadow for in AE CC (CS6)
I created a light and a white solid. I oriented the white solid to the plane of the footage and positioned the light such that I see the shadow cast on the white solid layer. However, I can still see the white solid (obviously, I only want to see the shadow) If I change the white solid layer settings to "Accept Shadows" from "On" to "Only" the shadow disappears along with the opacity of the solid.

I appear to be missing Light Effects plugin. It wold be in Filter-Render-Light Effects. I have Photoshop CS5 ver.12.0.0 64 bit. where can I get this plugin?
I saw a very neat tutorial for spotlighting a photo in PS [URL]. I tried my darnedest to translate to PSP X4. I naturally went to the the menu bar in PSP, EFFECTS> ILLUMINATION >LIGHTS...
Basically, I can get the light everywhere but the actual area I want spotlighted.
I am starting my Photography project for my Art A-Level and am in need of some assistance. The theme for the project is ''Light''. I need to find/take photos connected to proverbs or sayings, involving light (ie: ''There is light at the end of the tunnel" and "Every cloud has a silver lining").
The photgraph can also include a form of light, or an effect added in Photoshop
If anyone could post some ideas, whether they be connected to or involving light, or some effects that I could apply after the photo has been taken.
In After effects CS2 I cannot simply open fotocamera layer as well as Light layer, a pop-up message appears and says: “After Effects canot parse ò.9#. JL L5ò” ? Also I can't open the preferences, a similar pop-up message appears
PHOTOSHOP CS5.1 IN iMAC OS10.6 . I cannot use the filter Render - Light effects because it does not appear in the Render tag. On the other hand clicking the mouse right I can go to GET INFORMATION, but in the GENERAL SECTION , the option start with 32 bit DOES NOT APPEAR.
I owned this 5.1 version since some 18 months ago, and I am quite sure I succeeded in using the light effects in the past: What is happened and what can I do to fix the problem.
I have been messign with CC Lightrays in After Effects 5.5 and im using it by adding keyframes to lower and up the intensity back and fourth to make it look like the light is moving. My question is though, How can i get it so that the source of the rays is off screen yet fills the screen with its rays? Because the more you drag the source light off screen, the more it makes a cone chape of light. Also, i wanted to know how i can make the rays coming at me when im facing the camera. I have a shot where im looking at the camera and i want it to look like i'm looking into the light rays and i'm also surrounded by it.
How the heck can I remove banding from light gradient? I watched over 100 tutorials about this and yet not a single one works for my case! I have a light set in dark red color over a solid layer. That creates a color gradient. But it's so blocky that messes up the whole video.
My color depth is 32 bpc. I tried adding noise 5-10% (result:nothing) I added some boxing blur (result:nothing)
In preview color seems (not sure about that) to be ok but when saving it into mp4 then Ι get everything messed up.
My output options: H.264 24 frames profile: high level:4 bitrate settings:vbr,1pass
I don't know what to do!! I want a smooth gradient light on the solid layer without all this blocky look! why is it so difficult to have?!
how I would achieve this exact effect in Photoshop? The 2 light blue type of effects, one at the top of the image, the one at the bottom of the image. It isn't just regular lighting, as it uses a totally different light blue color. I don't know how to achieve this effect
I'm trying to assign a motion path to the light rays effect on one of my layers but i can't seem to find a way to do it and google has turned up nothing. the problem is the effect needs to be on a certain layer in order to make the effect look right but i don't want the layer to move i only want to affect the centre point of the effect. i can assign key frames and animate it to move in straight lines but i need it to move in a curve and there seems to be no way to alter the motion path or assign it to one on a null layer.
I'm using DP7, and working on a logo with 3 different shapes. They all have bevels applied to them (applied at different times and angles). I like having the light angle direction arrow to drag around to see the different effects from different angles but the arrow isn't always visible. What do I need to do to keep it visible, or make it visible? If I hit Ctl+B or Ctl+F the arrow will appear but the selected object will also move to the front or back at the same time. I've tried selecting the object first, then the bevel icon, and sometimes that works and sometimes not, although the outer bevel arrows will be visible. Even when the rotation arrow isn't visible I can change the light angle with the slider but I would prefer the rotational arrow instead.
The Issue as the title suggests is light source flickering off the asteroids... the asteroids were created using VCP plug in "Element 3D"
I havent had much experience using element as this is the first time I have tried it.. The light source is just standard AE light set to spot. It doesnt seem to make any difference changing it to "point" light or anything else.
I tried a few renders with different settings.. quicktime with sorenson 3 codec and animation codec didnt seem to do anything but I dont know alot about codecs to be honest
I've also posted a 4 sec vid for you to see my issue.. the flickering only seems to exist directly on the edge of some of the asteroids.
UPDATE --- Now that I have uploaded it to youtube for this forum post alot of the flickering seems to have dissapeared.. theres still a little I hope you can see it.. The anomoly is still very strong tho before uploaded....strange !
I'm trying to find a way of adding "film burn" or "light leak" effects (which give a faded, colour distorted, 70s look) to clips while editing in VSProX4. I'm working with SD avi clips, in a 4.3 aspect ratio (made with Mpeg Streamclip). find something like a "grunge" effects plug-in, compatible with VS ProX4, that is not too expensive.
My OS is windows vista, 32 bit with a 98G hard drive and 4G of ram (on Toshiba Satellite Intel duo laptop).
i do not know much about color spaces. But I do know that different forms of media require using different colors (RGB, CMYK, all that stuff).
wrong color space or exporting formats.
What do I need to do to get the final video that I exported to look exactly the same (in terms of color) when it's uploaded on YouTube? Strictly just the color, because I understand quality goes down when uploaded to YouTube.
I am having problems with one of FX effects in corel video studio x3. When I select 'stationary' on the tick box and play back the video, the light still pans around the screen regardless of 'stationary' being selected or not.
I want to make flyers for my band. I used to put text onto jpeg images using the Microsoft PAINT program but I want to get better at GIMP.
I really like some of the text(s) I make using the word art function in Micrsoft Excel 2010 but it seems I can't cut and paste them onto the image when using GIMP.
Is there a tutorial on putting text onto an image and making the text glow like a light saber?
I've made a fabulous Smoke Text effect that I then insert the .mov file into Final Cut Pro. The smoke effect I downloaded from the tutorial has a black background and therefore when rendered out, it's a basic white text against a black background. Once in FCP, I have to turn the file's opacity down in order for it to layer over a video file and not black out what I layer over it.
How can I make the file transparent? A simple toggle of the transparency grid isn't going to do it. I need to make or find a video of smoke that is transparent?
We've recently upgraded to a new Multi-Copier and we've been having problems printing to it. When we print a full size drawing and scale it to fit to a Ledger Sheet, the text became very hard to read. Changing layers, linetype scale, and even fonts don't work. It still prints at the same.
I am trying to animate a casino-like light board made of tens of light bulbs/leds. I thought the easiest way to do it would be creating a matrix of bulbs arranged by material ID and then design a pattern in multi sub-object materiel so I could somehow scrub through it and achieve animation effect. The material modifier allows to change ID for the whole object only and MaterialByElement shuffle ID`s in a random manner.
I’m trying to add some text effects over my video, but I’m really stuck right now getting After Effects and Adobe Premier to work together.
From the tutorials I’ve watched online, I’ve been trying to create a dynamic link between the two programs so I could easily create texts and other effects in AE that immediately show up on my timeline in Premier. I've been able to create texts, but whatever I create in AE is not showing up on the Premier timeline. Am I missing a step? Also, when I load up my sequence into AE, all of the color correcting that I’ve done with Looks inside Premier goes away, and the clips appear as they did right out of the camera.
I am attempting to build a facsimilie enigma machine, I would like to know how best to create an effect so that when a key is pressed a corresponding letter appears to light up. Btw I am not looking for an animated image, I can take care of the transitions between on and off, I just need to create the two image states.
How do you lock the pivot point of a light to the light itself? I thought just adding a Axis node would move the light and pivot point but the pivot does not move. Is there a way of parenting them together?
I've attached a DWG and a PDF of a 3D drawing where some of the annotation elements are plotting too light. Other elements, like the Title Block are dark enough but I can't figure out what the difference is.
I know this is based on layer properties, but when I compare the lines and text that print dark on FRAME 070 with the lines that print light on frame DIMS-tbl, I don't see any difference in linetype, lineweight, plotstyle, etc.
The PDF was created with the DWG to PDF.pc3 Printer/Plotter, but I have tried several others and they all produce the results.
